Director - Full Time

The candidate must have strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, extensive experience in early education and childcare management and have a good understanding of age-appropriate activities for young children. Working closely with the owner, the Director is responsible for the daily operation of the program, facility, administration, personnel, and auxiliary activities of the school.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must meet state requirements for education and experience.
• Minimum of an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development and a minimum of 3 years of management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool
• Highly effective organizational, time management and multitasking skills
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Neat, clean and professional appearance
• Must have mobility to react to emergency situations for the safety of students and staff
• Experience with NAEYC accreditation.
• Proficient computer skills in Excel, Word, internet, social media sites
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following;
ADMINISTRATIVE:
• Fiscal duties include monthly reporting which includes class lists and enrollment updates and month-end reports.
• Maintain state and GSI (Goddard Systems) Quality Assurance required record-keeping (for both staff and children)
• Manage classroom and faculty scheduling
• Review and update handbooks as necessary (employee + parent)
• Conduct fire and disaster drills as required by licensing and GSI
• Addresses all parent complaints, concerns and inquiries in a timely, professional manner.
• Maintain compliance with GSI QA requirements
• Understands that all Center Directors are expected to expand their knowledge in the early childhood field by attending seminars, training, etc., being members of early education associations, and being mentors to their staff.
LICENSING:
• Ensures center follows all state quality programming educational and staffing regulations as required by NJSDCF licensing and accreditation. Responsible for ensuring accuracy of records kept for both staff and children (families).
• Initiate and maintain a positive relationship with licensing agent/agency
PERSONNEL:
• New hire Onboarding and existing staff paperwork completed on time, employee relations, hiring, terminations, scheduling of staff, performance evaluations, merit increases, and appropriate training.
• Recruit, interview, hire and manage faculty
• Manage faculty schedule
• Conduct faculty orientation
• Complete faculty reviews: 90-day and annual
• Conduct monthly faculty meetings
• Maintain accurate employee files
• Plan/implement bi-annual in-service meetings for faculty
• Plan first aid and CPR and any other required trainings
• Plan emergency preparedness training
• Support and inspire faculty to provide a high-quality early childhood experience
PROGRAM:
• Implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum with monthly themes
• Incorporate GSI curriculum resources
• Plan/implement a year-round calendar (summer camp July + August)
• Provide faculty assistance with lesson planning and theme development
• Maintains current knowledge of early childhood best practices and quality programming through the required thirty (30) hours of training and priorities met using the DCF standard compliance form.
• Review children’s portfolios
• Ensure each classroom has an effective and compliant management system
• Develop, plan and implement children transitions
• Plan and implement visitors/activities
• Review policies, programs, facility, day to day operations and provide recommendations for modifications
SALES AND MARKETING:
• Coordinates special and community events, including open houses.
• After tour follow up with prospective customers
• Develop and maintain customer relations
• Maintain a system of home-school communication conduct meeting with parents/guardians when necessary
• Achieves monthly average enrollment targets.
