Assistant Teacher - Full Time

The Goddard School®  of Florham Park, an early childhood education center, is currently seeking a qualified, caring, and energetic Assistant Teacher .

Our ideal candidate MUST be interested in working with children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. The candidate (experience preferred) must love children and possess great people skills as well as be a dependable, high-energy and enthusiastic teaching professional. The ability to produce well-written lesson plans using proper grammar and punctuation is required. A friendly and caring demeanor and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with school personnel, children and parents and to work under pressure is essential.

Assistant Teacher Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
Minimum of 18 years of age
Prior experience preferred
Must pass BCII and FBI Fingerprinting
Our Assistant Teacher work together with our Lead Teachers:

Developing and implementing lesson plans
Meeting the individual needs of the children including feeding and diapering/potty training
Participation in staff and training meetings
Designing an appropriate room arrangement to support the goals and developmental level of the children in the classroom
Interacting with the children to support play, exploration, and learning
Presenting expectations that are appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level
Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
Communicating appropriately and professionally with parents and fellow staff
Meeting Goddard Quality Assurance and NJ state requirements
Using and completing assessment tools

Teacher Qualifications:

All candidates, who wish to be considered for the position of Lead Teacher must meet one or more of the following criteria, in addition to any/all requirements that may be mandated by their state and/or local licensing authorities:

A Bachelor's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development.
A Bachelors degree or higher in a related field, including 18 semester hours of completed coursework related to young children birth to age 8.
An Associates degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development or a related field.
An Associates degree or higher in a related field, including 18 semester hours of completed coursework related to young children birth to age 8.
A current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential.
Proof of current and active enrollment in a CDA Credentialing Program.
Proof of current and active enrollment in an accredited Associate’s or Bachelors degree program in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
RN or LPN with emphasis on the young child including at least one class in Child Development or Human Growth Development (For Infant, Toddler, Get Set only)
