JACKSON - Alison Domangue of The Goddard School located in Jackson has been selected to receive the 2013 Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children’s TYLENOL® National Child Care Teacher Awards at a special ceremony in Philadelphia. Domangue is one of 50 child care teachers recognized nationwide who designed and submitted an enhancement project that illustrated the educational, social and emotional benefits for the children in their care. Domangue will receive $500 from the Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation to design a print-rich classroom as part of her award- winning project “I Love Literacy.” The goal of Local Teacher Wins Award the project is to improve children’s language skills, particularly for children who present speech delays. Features of the project include new classroom bins with plastic label holders to help children improve vocabulary; an expansion of the classroom’s library including new furniture for a comfortable reading environment; personal size boards for drawing and practicing early writing skills; alphabet cards that feature Braille, sign language and other tactile features to accommodate different learning styles; and new games to help children identify their letters, develop vocabulary and improve pronunciation.
