The Twos Classroom

2 - 3 years old*

In the Twos classroom, patient, caring teachers guide children through playful exploration. They help your little one navigate big emotions while providing hands-on learning experiences that nurture their innate curiosity.

Turning Why into Wow

Your toddler is constantly learning new things about the world around them. At The Goddard School®, our team is here to work with your little one every day as they play, learn and gain the skills they need to prepare for preschool. Our Wonder of Learning® education program will immerse your child in literacy, science, arts and math brought together in one activity for a more wholistic—and fun—approach to learning.

*The ages of children in our classrooms may vary by local and state regulations as well as the unique needs of each student. For more information, please visit your local School's website.

Twos Classroom FAQs

The Twos classroom is where big personalities and big curiosity meet! Our teachers guide two-year-olds through playful exploration, helping them navigate emotions, build vocabulary and begin making sense of the world through questions and discovery. Our Wonder of Learning program weaves literacy, math, science and creative arts into everyday play so learning feels natural and fun.

Two-year-olds have more opinions and an “I-do-it-myself” attitude that doesn’t always align with their budding vocabulary. The misalignment of words and feelings is how tantrums happen, but Goddard teachers are well-versed in emotions big and small! They’re trained in positive discipline, which focuses on teaching, not punishment, connection over correction and understanding that behavior is communication. They help little ones name their emotions, understand boundaries and develop self-regulation skills.

Common milestones for two- to three-year-olds include speaking in short phrases and sentences, beginning to count, playing alongside friends and demonstrating early pre-literacy skills. Teachers observe and nurture each child's individual pace, sharing progress and milestones with families regularly.

Twos teachers are potty training pros! They know all the best tips and tricks for this big milestone and will work closely with your family to make sure what happens at home happens at School. Patience and positive reinforcement are key!

Meaningful connections are important for children to succeed at School. Our Twos classrooms maintain low child-to-teacher ratios so every child receives the individual care and encouragement they need. Teachers spend dedicated time getting to know every child’s interests, strengths and the unique way they experience the world.

In the Twos classroom, your child will explore through active play, sensory and dramatic play; music and movement; creative arts; construction; and early math and science activities. It’s all thoughtfully designed to build important skills that spark curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Learning Through Exploration

In our Twos classroom, the Wonder of Learning education program encourages Goddard students to question how the world works and then seek answers to those questions. Little learners identify sources of information, how to ask for help and how to work with others to gain knowledge and skills preparing them for a lifetime of learning. Experienced and nurturing teachers are there to guide your child through these important child-led classroom experiences.
