A lifelong love of learning starts early, and we believe in providing brand-new learners with the tools they need to be successful. In the Toddler classroom, our proprietary education program, Wonder of Learning®, comes to life as expert teachers harness children’s natural curiosity, guiding them to explore the world around them through hands-on learning, play and asking questions. Teachers support your child's social-emotional growth while helping them develop important physical skills. Your little one will build social awareness, form meaningful connections with others and have plenty of opportunities to strengthen essential skills like persistence and independence.
*The ages of children in our classrooms may vary by local and state regulations as well as the unique needs of each student. For more information, please visit your local School's website.
Skills children learn in the Toddler classroom:
“We’ve been so happy with our decision to send our daughter to Goddard. Everyone is so kind, and we can already see the positive changes this has brought out in her!”
The Toddler classroom is where curiosity truly takes off! Toddlers will develop academic, social, emotional and physical skills as they build early language and communication, begin interacting with friends and discover their unique interests. Our Wonder of Learning program supports well-rounded development through hands-on, play-based experiences.
Language development is one of the most exciting milestones at this age. From narrating daily routines and reading books together to singing songs and responding enthusiastically to “toddler speak,” teachers create a language-rich environment that helps toddlers move from first words to simple sentences.
Some common toddler milestones include: walking independently, saying their first words and sentences, imitating actions and sounds and showing preferences as well as a budding sense of self. We meet each child right where they are, celebrating their pace and progress every step of the way.
First, it’s important to know that separation anxiety is completely normal at this age! Second, Goddard teachers are experts at helping little ones feel secure. They build trusting relationships with each child by maintaining consistent daily routines and using gentle transition strategies. When kids know what to expect they feel safe and will adjust quickly, especially when they see that their classroom is fun and full of possibilities.
You know your toddler best, but yes, toddlers are ready for daycare at 12 months. Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed for children at this stage of development. The Goddard School introduces your child to social experiences and early learning opportunities that support healthy development. Our experienced teachers ensure every child feels seen, safe and supported in a safe, consistent and controlled environment.
We work with each family to try to match routines that work for your child. We keep to schedules so that your little ones know what to expect because that’s how they feel safe and confident. We welcome ongoing communication so we can adjust schedules as your toddler grows and changes.
From learning how to relate to peers to developing their language skills, toddlers are busy! We love supporting their curiosity, helping them learn how to communicate with one another and develop their independence and encouraging their independence, one wobbly step at a time.
