At The Goddard School®, we recognize that classrooms are made up of many unique children and teachers work to create engaging, innovative, play-based lessons with the interests and needs of every child in mind. Through the power of asking a question, your child will learn how to seek answers and advocate for themselves in the classroom. The Wonder of Learning® curriculum takes your child's natural curiosity and encourages them to ask even more questions because asking questions fuels learning. When children want to know something, they learn faster and learning becomes an understanding that lasts a lifetime.
*The ages of children in our classrooms may vary by local and state regulations as well as the unique needs of each student. For more information, please visit your local School's website.
Skills children learn in the Preschool classroom:
“We've loved everything about our child’s and our experience with Goddard. She moved recently from a different daycare and the teachers and staff helped her transition so smoothly. We continue to see her grow in so many beautiful ways and we credit everyone with Goddard helping her become who she is today.”
Children dive into inquiry-based learning, exploring topics through questions, investigation and creative expression. Your child will strengthen early literacy and math skills, build scientific thinking, expand their emotional vocabulary and figure out how to collaborate with peers all through play-based, teacher-guided experiences.
Milestones at this age usually include counting to 30, recognizing letters in their name and alphabet, expressing creativity through arts and dramatic play, understanding basic cause and effect and naming and managing their emotions.
Preschool gives your child a head start by helping them grow holistically. Children learn how to make friends, share, take turns and work as a team, which helps them feel confident and ready for a Pre-K classroom. Preschoolers develop their curiosity and thinking skills by asking questions and solving problems, setting them up for a smooth and successful transition into Pre-K.
Play is how preschoolers learn best, and we take that seriously! Our classrooms and Learning Centers are purposefully designed to spark curiosity and build skills through hands-on exploration. Every activity is intentional, blending fun and learning in ways that are completely natural to young children.
Social-emotional learning is woven into every part of the day in Preschool. Our teachers help children identify and name emotions, practice empathy, navigate disagreements and build meaningful friendships. These skills are just as important as academic ones, and research shows that strong social-emotional foundations are one of the greatest predictors of long-term success.
Great preschools prioritize whole-child development: social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth. Look for warm, qualified teachers, a play-based curriculum, a safe and stimulating environment and strong communication with families. At The Goddard School, all of these elements come together through our Wonder of Learning program and our commitment to empowering children to become the best version of themselves.
The inquiry-based approach to our Preschool classroom is limitless! Topics of learning start with what your child knows, and explores what they want to know about it, creating a child-led, teacher-guided experience.
