Our Pre-Kindergarten program helps your child learn more about themselves, others and the world around them. Teachers engage in play with students, helping them to develop their social skills and learn more about effective communication. Our Wonder of Learning® curriculum emphasizes a child-led, teacher-guided approach, encouraging interactive, purposeful learning experiences that allows students to grow their math and literacy skills, preparing them for Kindergarten and beyond.

Skills children learn in the Pre-K classroom:
All the teachers at Goddard are enthusiastic, kind and nurturing of each individual child's growth. They are a team that is invested in each child.
Our Pre-K classroom gets children ready for Kindergarten in exciting and engaging ways. Children build uppercase and lowercase letter recognition, early counting by 10s, complex pattern recognition and early reading comprehension skills. Just as importantly, they deepen friendships, develop communication skills and grow the confidence they'll need as they step into elementary school.
Common milestones for kids this age include recognizing all uppercase and lowercase letters, writing their name, counting to 30 and beyond, retelling stories in order, sorting and describing objects by multiple attributes and building meaningful friendships. Our Pre-K classroom supports all of these milestones through a rich, hands-on curriculum guided by experienced teachers.
The Goddard School's Pre-K program goes beyond traditional academics to embrace the whole child. Our Wonder of Learning curriculum takes a child-led, teacher-guided approach that goes deeper than a standard lesson plan. Instead of countless worksheets, children get hands-on experiences, curiosity-driven exploration and intentional social-emotional development that public programs don't prioritize. The result is a well-rounded child who’s confident and ready for what’s next.
Most children are ready for Pre-K between ages four and five. Signs of readiness include the following multi-step directions, communicating their needs and managing basic self-care independently. We’re always happy to discuss where your child is developmentally and which classroom will be the best fit for them.
In Pre-K, every day brings something new! Kids will explore Learning Centers like Creative Arts, Dramatic Play, Science, Math, Writing and Technology. Teachers design hands-on, inquiry-based lessons that connect to children's unique interests so learning feels like an adventure.
Teachers share regular updates through the Goddard Family Hub app. Families can see what their children are learning, how it’s connected to assessment data, progress they’re making and areas for improvement.
When it comes to learning, one size rarely fits all. Our proprietary education program gives your child the freedom to learn beyond a traditional lesson plan, as teachers incorporate hands-on experiences, following curiosity to discover new knowledge and help children transition into students ready for the next stage of their academic journey.
