The Infant Classroom

6 weeks - 12 months old*

In the Infant program, our teachers provide your baby with all the cuddles and care they need, as well as opportunities to begin learning about the world around them.

Nurturing Care for All Their Firsts

Our proprietary education program, Wonder of Learning®, celebrates your baby’s natural curiosity within the classroom environment and models how to explore safely. Nurturing teachers narrate your baby’s experiences to build a strong foundation in 21st century skills for problem solving and building relationships.

*The ages of children in our classrooms may vary by local and state regulations as well as the unique needs of each student. For more information, please visit your local School's website.

Infant classroom milestones

Skills children learn in the Infant classroom:

  • Form and maintain a secure attachment to parents and caregivers, helping your child to create an internal sense of security and safety
  • Use their senses to experience and investigate the world around them
  • Make sounds and movements that allow them to communicate with caregivers and express their wants and needs
  • Develop physical skills like crawling, rolling, and pulling themselves up so they can explore their world
  • Develop fine motor skills—like holding a crayon or small toy—to help them begin to develop motor control that will set them up for success in preschool and beyond
  • ...and so much more!

“I feel so confident dropping my baby off to a place that loves them, protects them, and ensures that they are learning to the best of their abilities. It’s a balance of nurturing their young souls and challenging their growing minds. No place like it!”

Infant Classroom FAQs

Every day in our Infant classroom is thoughtfully designed around your baby's individual schedule. Teachers are attuned to each child’s unique needs for feeding, sleeping and play, supporting your little one’s routine so the classroom feels familiar. Throughout the day, babies enjoy sensory exploration, tummy time, music and movement and one-on-one interactions with their nurturing teachers.

During their time in our Infant classroom, babies will build foundational skills they need for life like forming secure attachments to trusted caregivers, using their senses to explore the world and developing early communication through sounds and movements. Physical milestones like discovering their hands, rolling and sitting independently happen naturally through our Wonder of Learning® education program.

Keeping families connected to their children is a top priority for us! Teachers use the Goddard Family Hub app to share real-time updates like feeding times, diaper changes, naps and special moments, so you always know how your baby is doing even when you're apart.

The Goddard School maintains low child-to-teacher ratios in our Infant classroom to ensure every baby receives the individual attention and responsive care they need. Ratios may vary slightly by location in accordance with state licensing requirements. We encourage you to ask about the specific ratio at your local School when you schedule a tour.

Babies are born to learn! Our Wonder of Learning curriculum celebrates infants’ natural curiosity by turning everyday moments of wonder into lifelong learning. We create nurturing environments where babies feel safe to explore the world around them. Teachers narrate experiences to build early language skills, introduce age-appropriate textures and sounds for sensory development and tailor every lesson to each baby’s unique interests and needs.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Our Infant classroom is designed specifically for babies 6 weeks to 12 months, with low child-to-teacher ratios, age-appropriate materials, safe sleep practices and staff trained in pediatric first aid and CPR. Frequent quality assurance and safety checks happen to ensure our School exceeds meets and exceeds compliance standards. Every aspect of our classroom environment is carefully evaluated so your baby is safe, comfortable and happy.

We know the first days and weeks of preschool can be emotional for babies and families alike. School leadership will connect with each family before their first day to understand your baby's preferences, comforts and routine. Teachers get to know each baby right away and gently ease them into the classroom, so they feel safe and loved. They will also check in with you during drop off and pick up and send notes in the Goddard Family Hub app.

Learning Through Play

We follow research-driven principles on how children learn best — through play and curiosity. Your baby is primed for learning this way because their brain is developing rapidly every day. Whether they’re just discovering their hands or learning how to stand independently, your little one will learn and grow in so many ways!
