From the moment they enter the world, babies are curious explorers, hardwired to learn. Every coo, reach and gaze reflects an incredible capacity for growth and discovery. Toddlerhood brings an explosion of learning fueled by curiosity and mobility. Once children start moving independently, their ability to explore deepens. Crawling to a toy, experimenting with stacking blocks or pointing to an airplane in the sky are all forms of inquiry. Toddlers ask questions — sometimes with words, but often through actions — because they’re driven to understand how things work.
In this short video with Educational Advisory Board member, Dr. Jennifer Jipson, she expands on how babies are born to learn and ways caregivers can support their learning journey. Highlights include:
- What born to learn means
- How to practice serve and return interactions
- Playful parenting techniques
