Our Goddard School Teachers

I am so excited to be the onsite Owner of The Goddard School. Before this new chapter in our lives, I spent the majority of my career in the Broadcast Television field. I believe this uniquely prepared me for the Early Childhood Education industry with experience in the creative arts as well as business management. My husband, Billy and I are the proud parents of three beautiful children, Joshua, Jessica and Jackson. Our family enjoys music, travel, spending time volunteering at our Church. Our youngest son is a Goddard Graduate and couldn’t be more proud of the education he received. Our vision can be summed up in the words of the scholar and teacher Forest Witcraft: “One hundred years from now it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like. But the world may be a better place because I was important in the life of a child.”

Mrs. Gayle Nicholas-Dortch comes to us with over 17 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education field. Ms. Gayle was born and raised in Mobile, AL. She has 6 adult children and 8 grandchildren. She has been married for 15 years to “the greatest husband in the world”, Manuel. She holds an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Management, a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development, an Advanced Director’s Credential as well as certified in CPR/First Aid and Safe Food Handling. She was the recipient of “Director of the Year” in 2018-19 and 2019-20. Ms. Gayle believes, “. Once you know a child (student) by developing a true relationship with them you can find a way to teach that student.” Everyone can and will learn in their own way and at their own pace. No need to compare one person to another as each is unique.”

Jenni Cole, a Jacksonville native, has worked in childcare since 2011. She began in her church nursery, where she still serves as the Nursery and Early Childhood Coordinator. Jenni joined The Goddard School in November 2020, starting as a resource teacher before becoming a co-lead in several classrooms. Today, she is proud to serve as the Director of Education, bringing her experience, warmth, and leadership to the entire Goddard community. Jenni is the proud mother of two daughters: Charlie, a Goddard alumna, and Eleanor. She has a deep love for both children and animals, and she believes every classroom should be a safe, caring space where children feel free to express themselves, learn, and grow. Outside of school, Jenni loves spending quality time with her daughters, family, and friends. You’ll often find them enjoying sunny days by the family pool and making memories together.

Katherine, Ms. Kat, originates from Birmingham, AL, and relocated to Jacksonville in September 2021. She has been happily married since 2012 and is the proud mother of Olivia, a Goddard alumna. With five years of experience in early childhood education, Ms. Kat's journey began as a Resource teacher, where she worked across various classrooms. She then served as a teacher in the Starfish classroom and later became the co-lead teacher in our VPK classroom, the Manatees. Ms. Kat is thrilled to now serve as the Assistant Director of Operations at Goddard. Driven by a deep love and passion for children, Ms. Kat believes that every child deserves access to quality education in a nurturing and safe environment. She is committed to fostering a space where children feel valued, connected, and free to explore and express themselves. Outside of her professional role, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, gardening, watching movies, and engaging in creative DIY projects.

Ms. Kelli brings over 30 years of experience in childcare and holds her CDA credential. She chose to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education because of her deep love for children and her passion for watching them learn, grow, and express themselves in unique ways. Originally from West Virginia, Ms. Kelli has lived in Jacksonville for the past 35 years and is a proud mother to her son, Trey. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spending quality time with family and friends, especially at the beach. Ms. Kelli’s extensive experience and dedication to fostering children’s development make her a valued member of our team.

Ms. Ava is currently pursuing her degree in Early Childhood Education at Florida State College at Jacksonville. With over five years of babysitting experience and two years working in childcare settings, she brings both enthusiasm and a strong foundation in child development to her role. Ms. Ava has always had a passion for working with children. She finds joy in watching them learn, grow, and reach important milestones. She also enjoys bringing creativity into the classroom and collaborating with fellow educators to develop engaging and enriching activities. Her favorite children's book is "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch, a heartfelt story she enjoys sharing with young learners. Outside of school and work, Ms. Ava loves spending time outdoors, doing photography, coloring, going to the gym, and exploring new experiences.

Kasey is a Resource Teacher who spends her mornings supporting children across all age groups and her afternoons as an Infant Teacher. She is currently pursuing her A.A. in Health Sciences and is a naturally curious soul who loves to learn, ask questions, and try new experiences. Kasey chose to work in early childhood education because she loves children's curiosity, playful personalities, and excitement for learning. She finds great joy in helping children learn, grow, and discover new things each day. Outside of the classroom, Kasey enjoys spending time with her family, drawing, reading, fashion, interior decorating, and playing The Sims. Her favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which reflects her love of curiosity, growth, and discovery!

Jessica brings over 10 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Passionate about fostering the growth and development of young learners, she is dedicated to providing a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive environment for both children and their families. Jessica is known for her caring and empathetic nature, always striving to exceed expectations in her role. She is deeply motivated by her love for children and the joy of witnessing their progress. Outside of her professional life, Jessica enjoys maintaining a tidy home, engaging in creative activities like coloring and drawing, and taking serene walks to relax.

Allyson is currently pursuing a degree in Marine Biology at Florida State College at Jacksonville. She is passionate about working with young children and values the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a positive difference in their lives. Allyson’s favorite children’s book, In a Dark, Dark Room, reflects her love for stories that spark imagination and curiosity. In her free time, she enjoys creating art, playing video games, and collecting unique toys, interests that often inspire creative ways to connect with children. With a warm personality and a genuine enthusiasm for early learning, Allyson is committed to supporting each child’s growth, development, and love of learning.

LaQuanna, affectionately known as Ms. Q, is a dedicated early childhood educator with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in Infants and Toddlers. A passionate advocate for children's learning, Ms. Q enjoys a wide range of children's books, particularly works by Eric Carle, Dr. Seuss, and Pete the Cat. Known for her nurturing and caring nature, Ms. Q is always eager to learn and grow both personally and professionally. As a mother of three, she deeply values family and strives to create a positive, supportive environment for the children in her care. She chose to pursue a career in childcare because of her strong desire to be a positive influence in children's lives, helping them learn and thrive. In her spare time, Ms. Q enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and caring for children.

Zuri is beginning her career in early childhood education. She is enthusiastic about supporting young learners and is committed to creating a safe, positive, and nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and feel happy. Her favorite children’s book is Charlotte’s Web, which she enjoys for its meaningful themes and storytelling. Zuri is especially passionate about working with young children and will serve as a resource teacher, primarily supporting the one-year-old classrooms. She is dedicated to helping children build foundational skills while feeling secure and cared for throughout their day. In her free time, Zuri enjoys going to the gym, shopping, and spending time relaxing. Her favorite color is blue, and she enjoys Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

Chelsey holds an Infant/Toddler CDA credential and has a passion for working with young children. She is cheerful, outgoing, and always eager to lend a helping hand. Chelsey chose a career in childcare because she believes it's a special gift to love, nurture, and help guide the next generation. Her favorite books are anything by Dr. Seuss, and she enjoys spending her free time with friends and family or getting lost in a good book.

Ketari, known as Ms. Kay, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and moved to Jacksonville at age 11, where she proudly considers herself a Floridian. She began her career as a caregiver in retirement communities, where she discovered her passion for caring for others and making a positive impact in people’s lives. After becoming a mother, she found joy in helping her daughter learn and grow, from teaching sign language to early learning skills. This experience inspired her to pursue a career in childcare, where she found her true passion working with children.

Rae'Ona, who everyone calls Rae, is a Resource Teacher in our Two-Year-Old classroom. A Jacksonville, FL native, Rae brings a fun, creative, and enthusiastic spirit to the classroom. Her passion for working with children comes from the special happiness she feels when teaching, encouraging, and watching them learn and grow. Rae loves creating engaging experiences for children and enjoys being part of their early learning journey. Outside of the classroom, Rae is always finding new ways to express her creativity. She enjoys painting, doing DIY nails and hair, and trying new creative projects. Her favorite color is mint green, and her favorite book is Green Eggs and Ham! We are excited to have Rae's creativity, passion, and positive energy as part of our school family!

Laura is a caring, patient, and positive teacher who loves being part of children's growth and development. She chose to work in early childhood education because she enjoys helping children learn, explore, and grow while creating meaningful connections along the way. Laura strives to create a safe, loving, and positive environment where every child feels supported, encouraged, and comfortable being themselves. She believes children learn best when they feel secure, valued, and free to explore through play. Outside of the classroom, Laura enjoys painting, crocheting, and spending quality time with her family while creating happy memories together. Her favorite book is Pete the Cat, which is a perfect reflection of her fun-loving and positive spirit!

Shyrah “Shy” is a proud graduate of Florida State College at Jacksonville, bringing both passion and creativity to her role in early childhood education. As a dedicated mother and active member of her community, Shy combines her nurturing spirit with a love for inspiring young minds. Her decision to pursue a career in childcare stems from a deep desire to make a meaningful impact, help shape the next generation, and, of course, share a few laughs along the way. Shy believes in creating a joyful, supportive environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to grow. Outside the classroom, Shy is a talented event decorator and a proud soccer mom. She enjoys painting, water sports, staying active, and practicing self-care. Her favorite book, Otter Oughtta Know, reflects her appreciation for fun, engaging stories that spark imagination and learning.

Maribeth holds a Staff Credential and Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and is committed to ongoing professional development through continuing education. Her favorite children's book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. and Eric Carle. As the mother of a 7-year-old, she enjoys supporting her child's sports activities and participating in PTA events. In her free time, Maribeth enjoys reading, taking long walks with her family, practicing her golf swing, and watching travel and food shows. She finds great joy in helping children learn, grow, and develop new skills, and considers watching their progress over the years to be the most rewarding part of her work.

Mrs. Keesha brings over 18 years of experience in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She has been a valued member of the Goddard family for over six years, where her passion for teaching shines through in her commitment to creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment. Mrs. Keesha believes in providing children with a space where they feel safe, respected, and loved, fostering both their academic and personal growth. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, further enriching her approach to teaching with the values of care and connection.

Ms. Ira, originally from Elizabeth, New Jersey, brings 21 years of experience to her teaching career. She holds her DCF training hours, Director’s Credential, and CDA, demonstrating her commitment to professional growth and excellence in education. Ms. Ira’s teaching philosophy centers around creating a safe and supportive environment where children feel secure and valued. Her favorite children's book is Corduroy, a timeless classic that reflects her appreciation for the importance of connection and belonging. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Ira enjoys dancing, living a healthy lifestyle, and designing homes, passions that inspire her creativity and dedication to nurturing young minds.

Izzy is beginning her journey in early childhood education with a strong passion for creativity and the arts. Her favorite book is Wonder, which inspires her appreciation for kindness, individuality, and self-expression, values she brings into the classroom each day. As an aspiring artist, Izzy hopes to share her love of art with children by introducing them to creative expression and helping them discover the beauty of art in their everyday experiences. She chose to work with children because of her prior experience tutoring and her naturally patient and supportive approach, which allows her to connect with young learners and guide them effectively. Izzy serves as a resource teacher, spending most of her time supporting the two-year-old classroom and closing in the one-year-old classroom. She is dedicated to a positive, engaging environment where children feel encouraged to explore, create, and grow. In her free time she enjoys art, gaming, crafting, and experimenting with make up.

Ms. Alexis, originally from Seattle, Washington, has been working in childcare for six years and holds an associate's degree in Early Childhood Management. She is passionate about engaging with children and making a positive impact on their lives as they learn and grow. One of her favorite books to read to the children is The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, which inspires lessons on friendship and sharing. In her free time, Alexis enjoys exploring, reading, and expressing her creativity through arts and crafts. Her dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching environment makes her an invaluable part of the team.

Ms. Heather is a proud graduate of Jean Ribault High School with a passion for early childhood education. Her favorite book, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, reflects her fun and creative approach to teaching. A God-fearing woman, Heather describes herself as both an introvert and an extrovert—quiet at times, yet also funny and always there for others. She strives to create a positive, enjoyable environment for children, believing in the power of fun, meaningful learning experiences. Heather is drawn to childcare because she loves the way young minds absorb new information and the many ways to inspire their growth. Outside of work, she enjoys listening to music, taking peaceful walks by the water, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Ms. Rebekah ("Bekah") is passionate about working with children and finds joy in watching them grow, learn, and discover that they are capable of anything. Her favorite children’s book, Horton Hears a Who, reflects her belief in the importance of every child’s voice and potential. Outside of the classroom, Bekah enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing guitar, cooking, going on walks, and even finds relaxation in cleaning. Her warm personality and love for music and learning help create a positive, encouraging environment for the children in her care.

Ms. AnaMaria has a deep-rooted passion for early childhood education, having been inspired by her family's legacy in the field. Growing up, she had the opportunity to assist her mother, a dedicated educator, and later expanded her experience by volunteering throughout her teenage years. This hands-on exposure fostered her commitment to pursuing a career in early childhood education and now holds a CDA credential. Ms. AnaMaria’s favorite children's book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, which she believes beautifully captures the wonder of growth and transformation. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending her free time fishing, embracing nature’s tranquility.

Mr. Amari is a dedicated childcare professional with a passion for making a positive impact on children's lives. After graduating high school, he moved back to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, following an eight-year stay in Mississippi. Mr. Amari chose a career in childcare because he is committed to helping children develop, build a strong foundation for their future, and foster their personal growth. His favorite book is The Cat in the Hat, which reflects his appreciation for creativity and fun in learning. Outside of work, Mr. Amari enjoys reading, playing sports, watching movies, and engaging in thoughtful conversations.

Laura has been a valued member of The Goddard School team since 2012, bringing more than a decade of experience working with young children. Her background includes teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in inclusive classrooms, where she fostered a supportive learning environment for diverse learners. As an educator, Ms. Laura is dedicated to making the learning process engaging and tailored to each child's unique development. Outside of her professional life, Ms. Laura is married and a proud mother of two wonderful children. Her commitment to nurturing young minds makes her an integral part of our community.

Ms. Lubi brings over 15 years of experience in childcare and has been a dedicated member of the Goddard team since July 2022. Originally from Guatemala, she is a proud mother of two adult children and a beloved Chihuahua named Lulu. Ms. Lubi enjoys watching comedies, reading, and expanding her language skills, currently learning American Sign Language (ASL) and Albanian. Her favorite quote, "Be the reason someone smiles today," reflects her positive and caring approach to teaching. Ms. Lubi is also an avid fan of Eric Carle, whose work continues to inspire her love for children’s literature.

Ms. Megan is a dedicated Infant teacher with a passion for early childhood development, she loves supporting young learners as they grow, explore, and reach new milestones each day. She holds a CDA credential. Her favorite children's books are The Rainbow Fish and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, both of which reflect her love for imaginative storytelling and creativity. Megan's favorite color is purple, and she brings that same brightness and warmth to the classroom. Megan chose a career in early childhood education because she values the opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on children’s lives. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys music, cooking, trips to the beach, and watching movies.
