Gina and Clay both grew up in South Kingstown and attended the local schools. After Clay graduated from URI, he spent 15 years in various locations fulfilling project management roles. In 1998, they returned to Rhode Island to start a family. They are the proud parents of two children (Peyton and Hailey). They began working on The Goddard School in 2004 and opened in August 2006 - providing a new option in early childhood development. Learning for fun! Learning for Life! Mrs Michelle grew up in the Bronx, NY and after graduating from SUNY Purchase worked as Director in Westchester New York for 19 years. Michelle relocated to South Kingstown with her husband and twins Peter and Sara in 2011 and has worked as an online ESL teacher, substitute for the South Kingstown School District and ran a successful 1st grade pod during Covid. Michelle believes that children have a natural curiosity about their world and when given the right environment they will thrive.

Part of our Family since April 2021 Education: studying Early Childhood Education at CCRI Classroom: Pufferfish (Rm 7; approx. 2.5 - 3.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly' by Lucille Colandro Miss Alex started working in early childhood settings when she was 14 years old. Through her high school program she both worked and interned in a variety of early childhood care settings. After high school, she continued down the early childhood path and began studying Early Childhood Education at CCRI. Miss Alex takes this new knowledge and puts it into practice in our younger preschool classroom! Outside of work, Miss Alex enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys baking, the beach, going swimming, and listening to records on her record player!
Miss Brittany

Part of our Family since October 2020 Education: BA in Stage Management Classroom: Starfish (Rm 1; approx. 6 weeks - 12 months) Favorite Children's Book: "Bark, George" by Jules Feiffer Miss Brittany obtained her BA in Stage Management from the University of Utah. She has extensive experience in stage management, including 7 years of experience volunteering with children's theater. She also has experience teaching kindergarten in a private child care setting as well as 2 years of experience teaching English in South Korea. In addition to all of that experience, Miss Brittany was a counselor at Wasatch kids camps for 8 years! Miss Brittany is a positive and motivating presence in our Infant classroom! In her free time, Miss Brittany enjoys spending her time with her two cats and her family. She also enjoys studying and learning language and going boating!

Part of our Family since November 2019 Education: 2 years at CCRI studying Human Services + CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Seahorse (Rm 2; approx. 10 - 16 months old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' by Crockett Johnson Miss Hannah joined our infant teaching team bringing two years of experience from a different early childhood setting with her. Miss Hannah grew up in the South County area and completed two years of college studying Human Services. She is continuing to work towards an Early Childhood Education degree. In addition to her time spent with our older infants here at the Goddard School, Miss Hannah loves to spend time with her two dogs!

Part of our Family since September 2020 Education: Studying Special Education at the Community College of Rhode Island Classroom: Sea Otter (Rm 4; approx. 2 - 2.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'The Thing About Yeti's' by Vin Vogel Miss Jenny joined our teaching team in September 2020. She started by gaining some experience with out Infant classroom and then quickly became a lead teacher in our Toddler program! Miss Jenny has a love for art projects, gross motor activities, and really enjoys expanding children's cognitive abilities through the introduction of letter and number associations. Miss Jenny has past experience with working with young children and brought her bright personality with her to our school. She grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Rhode Island as an adult. In her personal time, she enjoys making time to spend with her big family!

Part of our Family since April 2021 Education: BS in Communicative Disorders, minor is Psychology Classroom: Jellyfish (Rm 5; approx. 2.5 - 3.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Chrysanthemum' by Kevin Henkes Miss Julia joined the Goddard teaching team after graduating from URI where she studied Communicative Disorders. Miss Julia brings a variety of child centered experiences with her to the classroom including her time as a camp counselor for the town of Narragansett, nannying, and time as a behavioral specialist where she worked with children with varying developmental abilities accompanying communication impairment. Outside of teaching, Miss Julia loves the arts- singing, painting, and drawing. She also spends as much time as she can outdoors enjoying everything that Rhode Island has to offer!
Mrs Mary

Part of our Family since January 2018 Education: BS in Human Development & Family Studies + CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Starfish (Rm 1; approx. 6 weeks - 12 months) Favorite Children's Book: 'Llama Llama Red Pajama' by Anna Dewdney After earning her Bachelor's degree from URI in Human Development and Family Studies, Miss Mary taught a 5th grade class in Philadelphia. She then returned to Rhode Island to work one-on-one with adults with disabilities. In January 2018 she joined our team as the lead teacher in the Get Set room, is currently teaching in our youngest Infant room but it well versed in a variety of our classrooms. Miss Mary loves helping her Infant students explore sensory experiences such as art projects as well as supporting them in their gross motor development. Miss Mary enjoys photography and reading, working on crochet projects, and raising her son! We are so happy to have her as a comforting presence in our classroom!

Part of our Family since August 2019 Education: Associate's Degree in General Studies with a focus in Early Childhood Education; Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Development +CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Dolphins (Rm 9; approx. 4-5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle Miss Michaela has been in the early childhood field since 2017. Prior to teaching she was a dining services supervisor at a local retirement community for five years. She has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember and often reflects on the days when she lined up her stuffed animals and dolls to teach them simple addition and spelling on an old chalkboard. She recalls her preschool and pre-k years and wants to make sure that every child feels like an individual in their world. Miss Michaela believes that all children are valued, unique and special. A quote that she lives by is, "Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid" (Albert Einstein) and bases her own teaching philosophy around this quote. A fun fact about Miss Michaela is that she started an after school art club during her senior year in high school which is still actively running.

Teacher Mentor Part of the Goddard Family since 2007 Part of our Rhode Island Family since January 2019 Education: Early Childhood Education Certification +CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Pufferfish (Rm 7; approx. 2.5 - 3.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: "Dragons Love Tacos" by Adam Rubin Miss Missy joined our school in January 2019 after moving to Rhode Island from Pennsylvania where she was working in a Goddard School in a two year old classroom for the past three years. Previous to that, Missy worked in a Goddard School in Maryland for five years! With that experience combined with a few nannying positions, Missy has over twelve years of experience doing what she loves most! Working with children brings her so much joy! She is a firm believer in The Goddard School Program and truly feels that children learn best by playing in a safe and nurturing environment. Outside of work, Missy loves to travel and explore new places with her husband and son. At home she loves watching food network and spending time with her growing family and super cute guinea pigs, Penelope and Petunia.

Fore Miss Rhonda joined our preschool teaching team in the summer of 2019 bringing over 10 years of preschool teaching experience with her! Teaching in multiple schools prior to Goddard, Miss Rhonda has many activities that she is ready to share. She can often be found engaged in reading stories to her class or teaching them songs at circle. She enjoys supporting the Preschool students growth through social and academic skills!

Part of our Family since April 2015 Education: Associate's Degree in General Studies with a focus in Psychology + CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Sea Turtle (Rm 3; approx. 16 - 22 months old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' by Shel Silverstein Miss Sam graduated from high school with a license in cosmetology. She has since decided to refocus her career path to her true passion – Early Childhood Education. Miss Sam is a recent graduate from the Community College of Rhode Island. She is continuing her education at Rhode Island College studying psychology with a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. She started with us as an assistant in the older infant classroom and is now the lead teacher in the Sea Turtle room! Miss Sam likes to get creative with the kiddos in her classroom, both in play activities and artwork!

Part of our Family since September 2019 Education: Associates Degree in General Studies with a concentration in Arts & Humanities; Studying Elementary Education at the University of Rhode Island + CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Jellyfish (Rm 7; approx. 2.5 - 3 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Caps for Sale' by Esphyr Slobodkina Miss Trinity is the second oldest of eight children! Needless to say, being around children is something that comes with ease in her world. Miss Trinity’s experience with early childhood education began at Chariho’s Career and Tech Center where she took classes related to childhood development and spent time completing practicums/internships in the field. In addition to teaching at The Goddard School and attending URI, Miss Trinity tutors students in math and science and runs her mother’s business website. When she is not working or studying, Miss Trinity enjoys reading, drawing/artwork, and spending time with her friends and family.

Part of our Family since January 2021 Education: Studying Business Administration (working on a Bachelor's degree) + CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Seahorse (Rm 2; approx. 10 - 16 months old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Charlotte's Web' by E.B. White Miss Alley joined out Infant teaching team in January 2021. She brings with her experience as a nanny to a family with young children and as a waitress in a fast pace environment. Miss Alley enjoys teaching our older Infants how to positively interact with each other, explore activities, and develop confidence with their self help skills. Outside of her work life, Miss Alley enjoys baking, playing video games, and spending time with her family and friends!

Part of our Family since May 2021 Education: High School Diploma Classroom: Sea Turtle (Rm 3; approx. 16 months - 22 months) Favorite Children's Book: 'The Grouchy Ladybug' by Eric Carle Miss Alyssa joins our teaching team with some experience working with young children in small group settings. Her passion for early childhood began in high school where she took a class centered around growth and development in the Early Childhood years. Prior to working at Goddard, she spent time babysitting and teaching young children at a bible camp. Miss Alyssa quickly bonded with the toddlers in Room 3 and brings a cheerful presence to the class. She can often be found sitting on the floor engaged in play and engaging in conversations with the children in the class. Outside of work, Miss Alyssa enjoys photography!
Miss Bella C

Part of our Family since August 2019 Education: RIELDS Certified +CPR/First Aid Certified Classroom: Dolphins (Rm 9; approx. 4-5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: "If You Give a Moose a Muffin" by Laura Numeroff Miss Bella is a Chariho High School graduate and during her high school career she was involved in the Early Childhood program which set her up for success in early childhood settings. In addition to coursework, Bella also completed internships in a 6th grade classroom, a 3rd grade classroom, and a pre-k classroom. Her experiences and coursework opened her eyes to what it’s like to teach children. She is also familiar with the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) which guide curriculum in the classroom. Miss Bella enjoys spending time at the beach and surfing and she is also a food and music enthusiast!

She continued to develop a passion for the field as she worked towards her Bachelor's degree. After joining us here at The Goddard School, Miss Emma spent time training in our preschool and pre-k rooms. She enjoys playing with the children as she supports their learning. Outside of the work environment, Miss Emma loves dogs and enjoys traveling, gardening, and cooking!

Part of our Family since June 2018 Education: Teacher Assistant Certificate; RIELDS Certified Classroom: Sea Otter (Rm 4; approx. 2-2.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'Are You My Mother?' by P.D. Eastman Miss Heather joined our faculty in the summer of 2018. She graduated from Chariho High School in 2018 with a Teacher Assistant Certificate in Early Childhood Education, and during which time she worked as an intern in the preschool located within the school. She is currently working on her Bachelor's Degree. Miss Heather spent time at a Resource teacher, helping in classrooms throughout the building. She then joined the Toddler teaching team as the Assistant Teacher in Room 4! Miss Heather enjoys reading and writing in her spare time, as well as dabbling in music! She also likes to be creative and make jewelry.

Part of our Family since August 2018 Education: Teacher Assistant Certificate Classroom: Pufferfish (Rm 7; approx. 2.5 - 3.5 years old) Favorite Children's Book: 'The Seven Silly Eaters' by Mary Ann Hoberman Miss Karina joined our school in the summer of 2018 with many years of childcare experience! In addition to her own wonderful children, Karina was a nanny for another family’s young boys (and Goddard grads!). She earned her Teacher Assistant certificate which gave her the education to put her passion into practice while caring for and educating the youth of our community. After a couple years as a Teacher Assistant in the local public schools, Miss Karina decided to jump into Early Childhood and is a wonderful addition to our teaching team. When she’s not at school you’ll likely find Miss Karina on the soccer field or practicing music or art. She’s a busy mom of two who loves to stay active!

Part of our Family since June 2021 Education: currently a CCRI student studying Psychology Favorite Children's Book: 'If You Give a Mouse a Cookie' by Laura Numeroff Miss Brooke made a cross country trip to move closer to her family in Rhode Island which prompted her to join our teaching team! She comes with 4 years of soccer coaching experience along with summer camp counseling experience. Miss Brooke is getting to know children throughout the building as she floats room to room. Outside of work, Miss Brooke love to draw, play soccer, listen to music, and go surfing!

She has experience working with infants through preschool and raised three children of her own! Miss Caron is most often found with our youngest toddlers, but you may find her in the infant room at times. In addition to her love for teaching young children, Miss Caron enjoys decorating and design, and DIY projects!

Supported by her Bachelor of Arts degree, Miss Janelle has always seen herself as a person enjoying working in a helping field. She enjoys being around people and she enjoys teaching and interacting with young children. Miss Janelle can be found supporting the Preschool and Pre-K teachers each week. She has a strong passion for music and reading fiction. She also enjoys walking and utilizing photography skills while out in nature!

She brings experience from working as a camp counselor (both a summer camp and a theater camp!), a Children's Literacy teacher, and a babysitter. Miss Jess is excited to expand her knowledge of early childhood development as she engages in play in a variety of our classrooms here at The Goddard School. In addition to her commitment to education, Miss Jess enjoys playing softball, tennis and basketball! She also enjoys the arts (theater specifically) and spending time hanging out with her friends.

Part of our Family since May 2021 Education: studying Nursing at URI + CPR/First Aid Certified Favorite Children's Book: 'Go Dog Go' by Dr. Seuss We welcomed Miss Madisyn to the Goddard teaching team as she wrapped up her Spring 2021 semester at the University of Rhode Island. Miss Madisyn grew up in Connecticut but decided to remain in Rhode Island for the summer while taking summer classes. She brings a few years of early childhood experience with her to the school as she has worked in child care settings in CT since she was 15 years old. Miss Madisyn can often be found helping in the infant classrooms and truly enjoys supporting the growth and development of our youngest classrooms. After graduation, Miss Madisyn hopes to become a NICU nurse where she can blend her early childhood development and nursing passions together. Outside of work and school, Miss Madisyn enjoys days at the beach, working out at CycleBar, spending time with friends and family, and traveling!

Part of our family since January 2020 Education: studying Special Education at East Carolina University +CPR/First Aid Certified Favorite Children's Book: 'The Monster at the end of this Book' by Jon Stone Miss Makenna joined us here at The Goddard School while she takes a temporary break from working on her Bachelor’s Degree. She is mid-way through her degree at East Carolina University where she is studying Special Education. Along with her college courses, she has experience working with young children as a camp counselor here in Rhode Island. In addition for her love for learning about development, she enjoys her pets, going to the beach, and spending time at her grandparent’s cabin on a lake in Maine!
