Mr Eric, Owner Eric and Susan always talked about owning their own business together where they could help and support people along the way. The Goddard School of Ashland is the perfect fit with Susan’s educational background, Eric’s business background, and the love they have for children and their families.

Eric has over 30 years of business experience in various leadership roles within Fortune 50 companies, mid-size, and startup organizations. Eric is also an adjunct instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University where he teaches undergraduate business school students about entrepreneurial finance and business strategy.

Eric looks forward to putting his skills and love into the children, staff and their families at The Goddard School of Ashland.

Ms Susan, Owner Susan has a BS in Education from Indiana University. She has been a preschool teacher, student teacher and substitute teacher. When Eric and Susan had their own children, she focused on raising their 2 children. While raising their 2 kids, she focused on being a lead room parent, Brownie leader, Cub Scout mom, assistant soccer coach, and religion teacher. Susan also taught at her children’s elementary school, teaching 72 preschoolers a week. Pre-school is her favorite age to teach because they are eager to learn everything. The students want to feel safe, laugh and play, which is the best way for the kids to learn.

Susan’s love of kids shines through every day and she also understands what parents and teachers go through each day to provide the best educational experience for their children.

Ms Alexis, Director Ms. Alexis has been with The Goddard School since 2007 when she began as a lead teacher and fell in love with the early childhood education setting. In 2012 she became part of Goddard’s administrative team as Assistant Director and in 2013 promoted to the Education Director position. She graduated from Marshall University in West Virginia with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. Ms. Alexis has two sons who have both graduated from the Goddard program here in Ashland.

Ms Summer, Director Ms. Summer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Randolph Macon College and has experience working in both public school and child care settings. She joined the Goddard faculty in 2012 as a lead teacher in the toddler room and later moved to lead teacher in preschool. She joined the administrative team as Assistant Director in the Fall of 2015 and most recently promoted to Operations Director in 2021. Ms. Summer has three sons who have graduated ,or are currently attending The Goddard School of Ashland.

Ms Katelin, Lead Teacher Ms. Katelin joined the Goddard School in 2013. She helped where needed in various classrooms, working with all ages from infants to school age. In the Fall of 2017 she assumed the role of Lead teacher in our infant classroom. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them grow each day!

Ms Janice, Lead Teacher Ms. Janice graduated from Salisbury State University with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Visual Communications. She has worked with children for many years in both public and private settings, as well as 2 years at another Richmond Goddard school. Ms. Janice joined our Goddard faculty in 2006. Ms.Janice loves to see the children learn and grow, especially when they have an aha moment and are aware that they just did something memorable for the first time!

Ms Trish, Lead Teacher Ms. Trish joined the Goddard faculty in 2012. She has experience working in all age groups, from toddler to school age. She is in tune to the children's needs, very organized, very fun and does a great job keeping children engaged in an activity. Ms. Trish received her Child Development Associates Degree in 2019. She loves to sing and play, and loves watching the children experience new activities that excite them about learning!

Ms Jeannette, Lead Teacher Ms.Jeannette joined the Goddard faculty in 2005 and is experienced working with students of every age. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School and took several classes in Early Childhood Education at J. Sergeant Reynolds, receiving a child care certificate. In 2019 Ms. Jeannette earned her Child Development Associates Degree. Ms. Jeannette is conscientious and helpful, is always upbeat with the children.

Ms Thelma, Lead Teacher Ms. Thelma comes to the Goddard School of Ashland in 2014, with a long history of teaching in the preschool setting. Her extensive experience working with 2 year-old's means she is seasoned in helping this particular population grow and develop with great encouragement and support. Ms Thelma earned her Child Development Associates Degree in 2018. She loves teaching children and especially enjoys art and reading with them.

Ms Judy, Lead Teacher Ms. Judy graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. Ms. Judy joined The Goddard School of Ashland in 2016, she worked at the Goddard in Chester location for almost 8 years prior. She loves to see children laugh and learn everyday! She encourages them to get excited about learning with fun hands on activities and real life experiences!

Ms Julie, Lead Teacher Ms. Julie graduated from Radford University with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. She worked in several areas including social work, child care, and in the Caroline County school system, as well as an instructor for mentally challenged adults. She joined the Goddard faculty in 2006. Ms. Julie is a loving and devoted teacher to every child she comes into contact with. Her first priority is the children’s happiness and well-being. When it comes to planning activities for the children, she makes sure it is something of interest to the children, but also allows them to retain the information that is being taught.

Ms Jordan, Assistant Teacher Ms. Jordan came to our school in 2019. Her experience includes babysitting for local families. Her favorite aspect of working with children is making a positive impact on them and their families.

Ms Wendy, Assistant Teacher Ms. Wendy joined the Goddard school in February of 2020. Her experience includes working with infants and toddlers in the preschool setting as well as raising 3 children of her own. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them learn and grow and knowing that she helped facilitate that development.

Ms Cynthia, Assistant Teacher Ms. Cynthia joins the Goddard School of Ashland faculty with many years of experience in the childcare setting. She has a great love of caring for children, particularly infants and toddlers. Ms. Cynthia wants parents to know she is there to love and care for their children when they are at Goddard. She especially loves watching children grow and as a teacher, having the opportunity to teach children good manners and guide their behavior in positive ways.

Alexis, Assistant Teacher Ms. Alexis joined the Goddard Ashland team in the Summer of 2021. She has experience working with children ages 1-5 in the childcare setting. She is currently working towards a degree in psychology from Mary Baldwin University. Her favorite aspect of working with children is seeing them develop and grow into strong, smart individuals.

Ms Britt, Assistant Teacher Ms. Britt holds an Associate's Degree in International Business from Stratford University. She has worked in a variety of age groups of children including infants, toddlers and teenagers. She loves watching children learn and grow. Ms. Britt says being able to see children excited about learning something for the first time is joyful! We are lucky to have Ms. Britt at school, building relationships with families since 2014.

Ms Lakeisha, Assistant Teacher Ms. Lakeisha joined the Goddard School of Ashland in the Fall of 2020. Her experience working with children includes running her own home daycare program for 11 years. She also worked at a local afterschool program helping students with their homework and creating fun activities to carry out with them. Her favorite aspect of working with children is seeing the excitement on their faces when they learn something new.

Ms Katlyn, Assistant Teacher Ms. Katlyn joins the Goddard team with a background in Early Childhood Education. She has experience babysitting children of all ages. While caring for children she read books, played with them, cooked meals and made crafts. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them grow and explore the things around them.

Ms Brianna, Assistant Teacher Ms. Brianna joined the Goddard School in September of 2020. Her experience working in the childcare field includes being a nanny for multiple families. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them grow and how much fun they are to be around.

Ms Erin, Assistant Teacher Ms. Erin is currently working towards a degree in Criminal Justice. Her experience working with children spans across all ages in babysitting,being a nanny and teaching at other local schools. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them grow physically and intellectually.

Ms Kyleigh, Assistant Teacher Ms. Kyleigh joined the Goddard School of Ashland in September of 2020. Her experience working with children includes working as a nanny for multiple families and also babysitting. Her favorite aspect of working with children is witnessing the joy and happiness that surrounds them.

Ms Carolyn, Assistant Teacher Ms Carolyn joined the faculty of the Goddard School of Ashland in 2007. She worked as both a lead and assistant teacher. She has taken several classes at J. Sergeant Reynolds in the education field. She is a great listener, willing to go the extra mile for the children, and always puts their needs first. Ms. Carolyn is truly a Goddard gem! With plenty of patience and loads of love, she motivates students to reach their highest potential.

Ms Jessica, Assistant Teacher Ms. Jessica is currently working towards her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University. Her experience includes working as lead teacher at another local center with Toddlers and Preschool-aged children.

Mr Malik, Assistant Teacher Mr. Malik holds a Bachelors degree in Sociology from Virginia Commonwealth University and is currently working towards his Masters degree in Education. His experience working with children includes working at the boys and girls club and also the TB Smith Recreation center with various ages. His favorite aspect of working with children is helping the children learn and witnessing their creativity.

Ms Mackenzie, Assistant Teacher Ms. Mackenzie joined the Goddard school in January of 2021. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hollins University. Her experience working with children includes working as a teaching assistant at a community school with ages 3-5 and working in the nursery at her church. Her favorite aspect of working with children is their excitement to learn!

Ms Paige, Assistant Teacher Ms. Paige joined the Goddard School in August of 2019. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts with a Minor in Elementary Education from the University of Richmond. Her experience working with children includes working as a nanny, working in special education and K-3 English and Math intervention with Henrico County public schools. Her favorite aspect of working with children is being a part of their journey as they learn new things.

Ms Shelby, Assistant Teacher Ms. Shelby interned as a teaching assistant at Chickahominy middle school with 7th and 8th grade ESL instruction and 8th grade language arts. She also worked as a recreation aide at Kersey Creek Elementary with 7 and 8 year olds. Her favorite aspect of working with children is seeing them develop and learning their individual personalities.

Mr Alex, Assistant Teacher Mr. Alex joined The Goddard School of Ashland in the Fall of 2020. He is currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Liberty University. His experience working with children includes volunteering with youth group and helping at an at-home daycare with kids ages 2-7. His favorite aspect of working with children is having the ability to help the kids learn and grow. Having the opportunity to build their foundation for success is a rewarding experience.

Ms Brianna, Assistant Teacher Ms. Brianna joined The Goddard School of Ashland in the Fall of 2020. She is currently working towards her degree in business administration. Her experience working with children includes helping take care of her younger siblings, volunteering with elementary school kids and babysitting for local families. Her favorite aspect of working with children is seeing their excitement to learn new things!

Ms Rachel, Assistant Teacher Ms. Rachel is pursuing her Master's Degree in the art of education at James Madison University. Her experience includes working in the public, private and camp settings with children of all ages. Her favorite aspect of working with children is seeing their excitement for learning each and every day.

Ms Isabelle, Assistant Teacher Ms. Isabelle joined the Goddard School of Ashland in May of 2021 and is currently working towards her degree in Education. Her experience working with children includes working in the childcare setting with ages 6 months to 10 years, babysitting and being a camp counselor. Her favorite aspect of working with children is watching them learn and grow!

Mr Jerome, Resource Mr. Jerome holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Ashworth College. He joined our Goddard faculty in 2013 with experience as an Intern with the Police Athletic League. He mentored and taught children chess as an assistant teacher with Henrico County, and worked as a fitness instructor for adults and children. Mr. Jerome says that he enjoys making the learning process fun and exciting as well as educational and loves to create activities, games and songs that engage children to learn new things!

Ms Robin, Resource Ms. Robin earned a Bachelor's Degree at Randolph Macon Women’s College and has been teaching for many years, working primarily with kindergarteners for Hanover County public schools. She is patient and dependable teacher who has been nurturing children at The Goddard School since 2010, providing a fun, loving after school experience!
