Our Goddard School Teachers

Poonam is so happy to be part of The Goddard School! Like many parents, Poonam found it challenging to find the right school for her daughter, Romy—one where she would thrive. A strong advocate for early childhood education, Poonam believes the early years shape who a child becomes. When they couldn’t find a school that fully met their standards, Poonam and her husband Anand decided to create the kind of school they had been searching for. They were drawn to Goddard’s high standards in education, health, and safety, and loved the Wonder of Learning curriculum, which encourages curiosity through play and exploration. They chose Greenpoint for its strong sense of community and family-centered feel. Inspired by their daughter, they built a warm, nurturing school rooted in trust, inclusivity, and connection—where families feel supported and children grow into confident, curious learners. This is the kind of school they envisioned for their own child—and for every child in this community.

Ms. Cassandra is a mother of two daughters and became a girl grandmother in October 2024. Cassandra holds a dual Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Touro University in New York City and plans to obtain her doctorate in education. Cassandra has been working in the Early Childhood Education field for over twenty-eight years and has her certification from birth through second grade. She began her career as a classroom UPK teacher for seventeen years. Most recently, Cassandra served as an Education Director for the last 10 years at Early Childhood centers before joining us at The Goddard School of Greenpoint. Cassandra has a strong understanding of child development and believes each child has a unique learning journey. Her newest favorite children's book is All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold.
