Mrs Shermeen
Onsite Owner OperatorMs. Shermeen and Mr. Akbar, as the children call them, are the on-site owners of The Goddard School of Potranco, a private preschool serving families in Northwest San Antonio, including Alamo Ranch, Arcadia Ridge, Riverstone, Weston Oaks, and Lackland. Parents to two young boys, they know firsthand how much the earliest years shape everything, and how much it matters that a child's school feel like a second home. Ms. Shermeen leads the day-to-day. A Houston native and Emory grad, she came to early education after a startup career. Her rule: every child should feel loved, safe, and learning, every day. Mornings open with a chorus of "Ms. Shermeen!" and tight hugs. A San Antonio native, Akbar studied education policy at Harvard and built Goddard on early childhood research: a screen-free environment, a daily Spanish program, and classrooms grounded in how young children learn. Outside school, they volunteer with Boy Scouts and are raising their boys to bleed Spurs' silver and black.
