    Bill and Melanie

    Owners
    Bill and Melanie Hyatt, owners of the The Goddard School Simpsonville, SC which opened in June 2006 and The Goddard School Greenville, SC which opened in January 2023. Bill is originally from Greenville, SC but he moved around the east coast before opening a Goddard School. He received his bachelor's degree in Retail Management at the University of South Carolina. He has over 30 years of experience in retail and business operations. Melanie grew up in Hilton Head, SC. She met Bill at University of South Carolina where she received her bachelor's degree in Retail Management and Master of Arts in Marketing Education. She earned an Education certificate in Learning Disabilities at The College of Charleston. Melanie has over 30 years of experience in education where she worked with students of different levels. They combine their love of giving back to others with their experiences of high standards in education. They have three, grown children and two grandchildren who attend Goddard.

    Ms Kim

    Regional Director
    Ms. Kim is originally from North Carolina and moved to Greenville with her family in 2003. Ms. Kim attended Western Carolina University and received a Bachelor's in Sociology and Psychology, with a focus in Child Psychology. Ms. Kim's previous experience includes teaching at a local preschool, Director of a preschool program and Director of the Extended Day Program at Bell's Crossing Elementary. Ms. Kim joined The Goddard School of Simpsonville's management team in 2007. She is now the Regional Director of The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC and Greenville, SC. She splits her time between these two schools. Ms. Kim mentors other Goddard School Directors around the country and has become an amazing resource for many schools within the franchise. Ms. Kim was recognized for her amazing talents, dedication, and hard work by being awarded the 2017 National Goddard School Director of the Year award.

    Ms Anna

    Director of Operations
    Ms. Anna is from Woodruff, South Carolina. Ms. Anna attended Greenville Technical College where she received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She also received numerous credentials from the State of South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development including; The Early Childhood Credential, Director Credential (Level 2 and 3), Special Needs Credential (Level 2), and Preschool Credential (Level 2 and 3). Ms. Anna started working at The Goddard School in 2013. Ms. Anna has over many years of experience working with children of all ages. She was a teacher in our Pre Kindergarten program and later joined the office staff. Ms. Anna was then promoted to Director of Operations of The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC.

    Ms. Gena, originally from Simpsonville, South Carolina, is a seasoned educator with a rich background in child development. She graduated from Hillcrest High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Liberty University, followed by early childhood development coursework at Greenville Tech. With 25 years of experience working with children from infancy through afterschool programs, Ms. Gena is deeply committed to fostering growth and ensuring that her students can apply what they learn in meaningful ways. She is particularly inspired by Dr. Seuss, whose books she values for their blend of engaging storytelling and accessible life lessons.

    Director of Education
    Ms. Shawn was born in California but spent most of her younger life in St. Louis, Missouri. She holds a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education from Missouri Baptist University. Previously, Ms. Shawn worked at The Goddard School in Chesterfield, Missouri. She joined The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC in 2008 and brought many new ideas and positive experiences from her previous school. Ms. Shawn enjoyed working in our Infant and First Steps classrooms before joining the office team in 2015. She was later promoted to Director of Education at The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC. Ms. Shawn has been working with children for over 20 years. She loves working with the teachers, students, and parents to make sure all of their needs are being met.

    Assistant Director
    Ms. CJ, originally from Southwest Michigan, relocated to Greenville after falling in love with the Carolinas during a visit. She holds a degree in Elementary English Language Arts from Hope College in Michigan. With over 10 years of experience working with children aged 6 months to 15 years, Ms. CJ has taught 1st, 2nd, and 7th grades. She is dedicated to fostering the joy and creativity each child brings to the classroom while supporting their growth and development. A passionate poetry enthusiast, Ms. CJ has a special appreciation for Shel Silverstein, whose work introduced her to the world of poetry in 4th grade.

    Administrative Assistant
    Ms. Michalea is originally from New Jersey but moved to Greenville in 2007 with her family. Ms. Michalea graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Psychology. She has over 3 years experience working with children and is passionate about supporting different learning styles to ensure that every student can engage with the material that best suits them. She is a fan of Shel Silverstein, particularly The Giving Tree, which exemplifies the value of selfless giving and unconditional love.

    School Age Coordinator
    Mr. Austin hails from Providence, Rhode Island, he relocated to the Greenville area in 2019 with his wife to be closer to family. He's currently studying accounting at Greenville Technical College and is set to graduate in December 2024. With five years of experience working with children, Mr. Austin has become a cornerstone of our afterschool program and summer camps. He’s passionate about fostering communication and collaboration in the classroom, believing it’s key to student success. When he's not teaching, you’ll find him whipping up something delicious in the kitchen, often sharing his culinary creations with the kids during our summer camps.

    Chef Lisa, originally from Chicago, relocated to the Greenville area to be nearer to her family. With over 20 years of experience in the culinary industry, she is enthusiastic about sharing her passion for food with the students at our school. Chef Lisa’s Italian heritage has greatly influenced her cooking, and she has dedicated many years to perfecting recipes passed down from her grandmother. She looks forward to introducing the children to recipes they will love while also encouraging them to explore and appreciate a variety of new and diverse foods.

    Ms. Alicea, originally from Massachusetts, moved to Greenville, SC to be closer to her family. She is a graduate of Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Center and dedicated three years to studying American Sign Language. With six years of experience in early childhood education, Ms. Alicea has worked with children from ages six weeks through middle school, Ms. Alicea is deeply committed to the philosophy of learning through play. She believes that this method is crucial for helping children understand and engage with their surroundings. Ms. Alicea is particularly passionate about incorporating diverse educational elements into her teaching. She actively integrates music, art, and sign language into her curriculum. Her approach is designed to create a dynamic and enriching learning environment. Additionally, Ms. Alicea values open and effective communication with parents, ensuring they are well-informed about their child's daily experiences and developmental progress.

    Ms. Hope, originally from Cheraw, SC, has been dedicated to working with young children since 2003. She is deeply passionate about supporting infants as they achieve their developmental milestones. Ms. Hope finds great joy in observing and facilitating their growth. Among her favorite children’s book series is "Pete the Cat," and she has a particular fondness for reciting nursery rhymes. Her enthusiasm for these activities enhances her ability to create a nurturing and engaging environment for the children in her care.

    Ms. Mindy, originally from Indiana, relocated to South Carolina due to her husband's career. She earned her undergraduate degree from Murray State University and has dedicated 15 years to working with school-aged children. Ms. Mindy is passionate about observing children's developmental progress and finds great joy in their growth and learning. Additionally, her favorite children's song is "Wheels on the Bus."

    Ms. Jennifer, originally from Gaffney, South Carolina, moved to Greenville with her husband in 1996. She brings over six years of experience in working with infants and is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment for their growth. Ms. Jennifer enjoys incorporating the song "Bingo" into classroom activities, finding it an effective and engaging way to connect with the children.

She is currently enrolled at Greenville Technical College, where she is pursuing Early Childhood Education classes alongside a degree in Occupational/Speech Therapy. With over six years of experience working with young children, ranging from infants to two years of age, Ms. Kayla is dedicated to supporting each child's development and takes great joy in observing their progress. She has a particular fondness for literature and songs that impart positive values and bring smiles to children's faces. Additionally, Ms. Kayla values creativity and delights in seeing children express themselves through their own art.

    Ms. Ashlynn, originally from Pickens, relocated to the Simpsonville area with her fiancé. She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Care and Education/Early Childhood Development from Greenville Technical College, following her education at Pickens High School. With over two years of experience working with infants and young children aged 5 months to 6 years, Ms. Ashlynn is dedicated to advancing early childhood development and cherishes the opportunity to witness children mastering new skills. Her enthusiasm for teaching is complemented by her love for the Froggy books by Jonathan London, which she admires for their humor and educational value. Additionally, Ms. Ashlynn, who has a background in choral music from elementary school through high school, enjoys singing and has a basic knowledge of French.

Ms. Belle’s favorite children’s author is Dr. Seuss, whose books she admires for their creativity, imagination, and ability to captivate young readers. In addition to her work with children, Ms. Belle is fluent in French and plays the piano.

    Ms. Hannah, originally from Hilton Head Island, SC, earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL. Since 2020, she has been dedicated to working with young children. Ms. Hannah is deeply committed to building individualized relationships with each child, recognizing the uniqueness of every learner. She finds great joy in observing their daily developmental progress. Her favorite children’s book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar, appreciating its incorporation of counting and the importance of food choices. While she does not speak another language, Ms. Hannah is adept at communicating exclusively through quotes from Friends if asked.

    Ms. Carrie, originally from Beaufort, SC, relocated to Simpsonville, SC for a change of pace and to enjoy a different climate. She holds a Child Development Associate credential and has over 27 years of experience working with children from birth to school age. Ms. Carrie is passionate about teaching and takes great pleasure in witnessing the growth and development of her students. Her favorite children's song is "The Goldfish Song," as it encourages the kids to get up and move, which they thoroughly enjoy. In her spare time, Ms. Carrie enjoys creating custom shirts, cups, tumblers, and other crafty items.

    Ms. Tamill is originally from sunny Florida, she moved to Greenville to be closer to family and provide the best environment for her son. Ms. Tamill earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida Atlantic University, and has spent the past 5 years working with kids from infants to middle schoolers. She’s passionate about fostering growth and development in her classroom. When it comes to favorite kids' songs, “Five Little Speckled Frogs” tops her list for its catchy tune!

    Ms. Shannon, originally from New York, relocated to Greenville with her family. She graduated from Woodmont High School and subsequently served in the Army. She continued her education at Strayer University. With extensive experience working with children ranging from newborns to five years old, Ms. Shannon is deeply passionate about observing and supporting their unique growth and learning processes. Her favorite children’s author is Eric Carle, whose books she values for their ability to teach children about the world around them.

With over three years of experience working with toddlers, Ms. Bella is dedicated to supporting children’s development and helping them achieve their milestones. She enjoys integrating children's songs into the classroom daily, enhancing the learning environment with music.

    Ms. Sheri is a dedicated educator with a rich background and a deep passion for teaching. Originally from Indiana, she moved to this area in the early 1980s. She began her career with a Dental Assisting degree from Greenville Tech and spent 13 years in oral surgery before earning a Bachelor’s in Elementary and Special Education from Converse College. With 15 years of experience, Ms. Sheri has taught children from infancy to elementary school, including special education students. Her approach to teaching emphasizes engaging and enjoyable learning, with a special love for reading and the arts. Inspired by Eric Carle's stories and illustrations, Ms. Sheri’s playful and creative style is reflected in her favorite song, “Herman the Worm.” She is grateful for the opportunity to support her students’ growth and make learning a joyful experience.

    Ms. Simone, originally from Louisiana, relocated to South Carolina after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She earned her degree through Odyssey Online Learning. With two years of experience working with children ages five to eight, Ms. Simone discovered her true passion in the Pre-Toddler classroom. She is dedicated to helping children reach their full potential and delights in observing their unique personalities develop. Ms. Simone enjoys reading The Three Little Pigs and incorporating different voices to engage and entertain the children.

She attended Virginia College, where she earned certificates in Medical Administration and Pharmacy Technology. Since 2006, Ms. Tammy has worked with children aged one to four, and she is particularly passionate about fostering their learning and teaching them new skills. She admires children’s authors Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary for their creativity and ability to captivate young minds. Ms. Tammy also enjoys art and music, which she frequently incorporates into her classroom activities.

When it comes to music, her go-to favorite is “Little Bumble Bee.”

She relocated to South Carolina to be closer to her family and began working at The Goddard School in 2001. Ms. Carmen has experience working with children of all ages and is passionate about reading and singing with them. She enjoys integrating science and mathematics lessons throughout the day, striving to create an interactive and engaging classroom environment. Ms. Carmen is committed to ensuring that both children and parents feel comfortable and welcomed in her classroom.

With over 10 years of experience working with elementary-aged students, including eight years teaching Kindergarten through 5th grade at Simpsonville Elementary, Ms. Olivia is dedicated to helping her students reach their full potential and discover their passions. She particularly enjoys the works of Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein for their rhyming, playful nature, and positive messages. Additionally, Ms. Olivia is renowned for her engaging and stimulating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) lessons.

She particularly enjoys The Laurie Berkner Band for its engaging and lively lyrics, which resonate well with children.

    Ms. Nene is from Travelers Rest, SC, she recently moved closer to Simpsonville for better opportunities. She’s just starting her journey at Greenville Technical College, working towards a degree in Human Services and Early Childhood Education. With 5 years of experience working with kids ranging from newborns to 13-year-olds, Ms. Nene is deeply committed to supporting children’s well-being both inside and outside the classroom. She’s passionate about helping kids thrive because she knows they are our future. As a child, she loved performing "Grandma’s Killer Fruitcake" at school—one of her favorite childhood songs. In addition to her English skills, Ms. Nene learned Spanish in elementary school and studied French for three years. And here’s a fun fact: she can play any song by ear on the piano!

    Ms. Lynn is originally from Scotland in the UK. She went to school in Scotland and Abu Dhabi. Ms. Lynn has an SVQ2 in childhood education, an HNC in early childhood, and a level 5 in management. She has been a teacher for over 18 years. Ms. Lynn is passionate that learning should be fun, not forced. She loves all of the Julia Donaldson books. In her free time, Ms. Lynn enjoys making candles.

    Ms. Kelly is originally from North Carolina. She moved to the Greenville area with her family several years ago. Ms. Kelly has obtained her Certificate in Creating Healthy Lifestyles for Young Children. Ms. Kelly has been working with young children for over 14 years and is passionate about caring for young children. She loves to watch them learn and grow in the classroom and treasures her role in their development. Ms. Kelly loves the children's author Dr. Seuss because of the deeper meaning that he conveys through his silly stories.

Ms. Kristina particularly enjoys the colorful illustrations in Eric Carle's books, which bring his stories to life. Additionally, she takes pleasure in engaging children with her STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) lessons.

    Ms. Patricia is originally from Long Island, New York but moved to Greenville, South Carolina in 2018 to be closer to her children and for lower cost of living. Ms. Patricia has been working with children for over 19 years and has experience working with children with special needs. Ms. Patricia's favorite children's book is "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" by Dr. Seuss. She loves this book because it teaches children to never give up on what they want to be when they become older.

    Ms. Maria, originally from Newberry, South Carolina, moved to Greenville in 2016 with her husband. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Erskine College. With over 11 years of experience working with young children, Ms. Maria has been teaching at The Goddard School since 2017. She is dedicated to discovering each child’s individual learning style and believes in encouraging and challenging them in a fun and exciting manner to help them reach the next level of their learning journey.

With over twenty years of experience teaching Kindergarten and First Grade, Ms. Kendel has been a valued member of The Goddard School team since 2018. She is passionate about guiding children and helping them uncover their interests and passions.

    Ms. Maleta, originally from Greenville, has lived in Simpsonville, South Carolina for the past 10 years. She graduated from James F. Byrnes High School and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Carolina University. Additionally, she holds a Master’s in Administration and Health Services from Strayer University. With a lifetime of experience working with children, including being one of eight siblings, Ms. Maleta is passionate about creating a vibrant and welcoming classroom environment. She enjoys incorporating fun activities to engage her students and finds that the song "If You're Happy and You Know It" adds joy to both the day and the classroom. In her free time, Ms. Maleta also loves singing and playing the drums.

With over seven years of experience working with children aged 6 months to 18 years, Ms. Olivia is dedicated to building healthy relationships with her students and creating a safe, supportive environment for their success. Her favorite children's book is If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, which holds a special place in her heart as it reminds her of her own childhood.

    Ms. Kellie, originally from Scranton, PA, is currently pursuing a degree in Secondary Education and History at Liberty University. Having previously worked as a nanny during high school, she is thrilled to embark on her first experience teaching preschool-aged children. Ms. Kellie is passionate about supporting each child’s growth and development, helping them to become their unique selves. Her favorite children's authors are Dr. Seuss and Stan & Jan Berenstain, whose books were cherished during her own childhood and continue to inspire her teaching approach.

    Ms. Emily was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, she’s a proud local with a BA from the University of South Carolina Upstate and is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at Converse University. With a year of experience working with children ages 2-6, Ms. Emily is dedicated to making each day fun and enjoyable for her students. Her goal is to spark a love for learning early on, so kids can carry that enthusiasm with them as they grow. A big fan of Victoria Kann’s Pinkalicious books, Ms. Emily loves sharing her favorite stories with her students. On top of her teaching skills, Ms. Emily speaks Spanish and plays the saxophone, bringing even more energy and creativity to her teaching!

    Ms. Tanya is originally from North Dakota. She has been working with young children for almost 2 years now. Ms. Tanya is passionate about singing and dancing with the children in the classroom. She believes that learning through play and creativity is essential at this developmental stage, and there's nothing more rewarding than seeing children express themselves through song and dance. Ms. Tanya's favorite children's song is "I'm a Little Teapot," because it's her daughter's favorite.

    Ms. Maria is originally from Rhode Island, and made the move to South Carolina seven years ago for a fresh start and a change of scenery. She's attended Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island, and has also studied at USC Upstate and Greenville Tech, where she’s earning her Associates of Art. With years of experience in childcare, Ms. Maria has worked with children from newborns to five-year-olds. She’s passionate about creating special bonds with each child and providing a safe, nurturing environment. As a kid, she adored Angelina Ballerina and Chrysanthemum for their imaginative stories, and she brings that same spark to her teaching. Fun fact: she speaks a bit of Spanish and can understand Italian!

She believes that the early childhood years are pivotal for learning to interact with others and is committed to supporting children through these key formative moments.

    Ms. Amy, a Greenville native with a credential in Early Childhood Development from Greenville Technical College, has dedicated 25 years to working with children of all ages. After a brief move to Myrtle Beach in 2019, she returned to Greenville, where she continues to inspire young learners. Passionate about early childhood education, Ms. Amy finds great joy in witnessing students' milestones and cherishes when they return to visit and recall her impact on their early lives. She enjoys animating readings of her favorite children's book series, Pete the Cat, making storytelling a highlight of her teaching.
