Julie has a BA from CU Boulder in Communication Disorders, Speech Science and Elementary Education. She also has a MA in Education of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing from Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. She taught in Adams 12 Five Star School District for 27 years. After deciding to open The Goddard School with Rick, she began taking Early Childhood classes and has completed most of the course work for director certification as background knowledge to help build the best school possible! She is very excited to put her knowledge and experience into providing high quality educational childcare at the Goddard School in Louisville.
Julie was born in Denver and is a third generation Colorado native. Her grandfather was born in a dug-out cabin near Palmer Lake, Colorado. Her extended family lives here in the Denver area, so family dinners are a very large group!
Rick has a BS in accounting from the University of Colorado, Denver. He worked in corporate accounting for 25 years. He is thrilled to make the transition from the business world to the world of children, families, and education. After raising two children, he is delighted to be surrounded by smiling eager learners.
Rick grew up in Dunedin, FL. His family’s house in Florida was across the street from commercial orange groves and instead of throwing snowballs as a boy, he and his friends lobbed fallen oranges at each other! Rick’s parents and brother still live in Florida
Julie and Rick have a daughter and a son, as well as one grandchild. They both enjoy gardening (thus the gardening theme in the school), going to the mountains, reading, and traveling. They have driven with their children to almost all the states in the continental United States!
