A food handler at The Goddard School is responsible for any food management the franchisee delegates. The food handler must have strong organizational and time management skills, as well as good attention to detail. This is typically a part-time position, with hours dependent on the scope of responsibilities. Can very well be a full-time position if desired.


A food handler must meet the following qualifications:

the ability to prepare food and serve food, in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations;
the ability to understand and comply with the franchisee’s policies relating to food service and employment policies;
the ability to communicate effectively with school personnel, children and parents;
the ability to handle crisis situations, including assisting in evacuating the building during emergencies;
the ability to manage time and multi-task while preparing several different food items;
An offer of employment may be made contingent on the following:

A current physical examination by a physician, including a current tuberculin test or chest x-ray;
A current Serv-Safe certificate, Food Manager Certificate, or Food Safety Certificate (within 90 days of employment)
An approved criminal record check as required by state regulations.

The food handler is responsible for the duties outlined by the hiring manager, which include the following:

Managing the food budget;
Ensuring the safe handling in preparation and distribution of all foods;
Preparing menus that include healthy lunches and snacks;
Ensuring that the menus are always in compliance with state and federal regulations;
Complying with all applicable laws and regulations relating to food handling;
Maintaining appropriate portion sizes; enabling teacher to maintain appropriate portions sizes;
Ordering food and paper products;
Maintaining and organizing inventory; label items with delivery date
Prepare and distribute bleach and soap bottles and bleach bins timely and accurately according to Goddard and State regulations
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dishes and kitchen as a whole

The brand new state of the art Goddard School in Granger Indiana is looking for full-time and Part time teachers to add to our team!
