Mrs Gina & Mr Clay, Owners Gina and Clay both grew up in South Kingstown and attended the local schools. After Clay graduated from URI, he spent 15 years in various locations fulfilling project management roles. In 1998, they returned to Rhode Island to start a family. They are the proud parents of two children (Peyton and Hailey). They began working on The Goddard School in 2004 and opened in August 2006 - providing a new option in early childhood development. Jill has been teaching in early childhood settings since 2010, but has babysitting experience going back to 2001. After graduating with her Bachelor's degree, Jill taught in a preschool classroom and spent a short time as an infant teacher. She joined the Goddard team in 2013 when she moved from MA back to RI where she taught primarily in Room 3. In 2016, after three years as young toddler teacher, Jill decided to take a break from the classroom to pursue her Master’s in Developmental Science at URI, graduating in July 2018. Within her graduate program, Jill spent a great deal of time analyzing data that looked at teacher - child classroom interactions and their benefits. After graduation, Jill returned to Goddard as the Early Childhood Director. In her free time, Jill often spends time in a small town in Maine where she can be found playing with her nieces and nephews, reading, swimming, or skiing.

After earning her Bachelor's degree from URI in Human Development and Family Studies, Miss Mary taught a 5th grade class in Philadelphia. She then returned to Rhode Island to work one-on-one with adults with disabilities. In January 2018 she joined our team as the lead teacher in the Get Set room, is currently teaching in our youngest Infant room but it well versed in a variety of our classrooms.

Miss Mary enjoys photography and reading, working on crochet projects, and raising her son! We are so happy to have her quiet demeanor as a comforting presence in our classroom!

Miss Taylor joined our teaching family in September 2019 while simultaneously starting a master’s program at Salve Regina University in the Holistic Counseling program. She has experience as a Behavior Specialist with children ranging from age 6 years to 12 years who have behavioral and developmental needs and is excited to join our older infant program! Miss Taylor enjoys traveling and listening music (including going to concerts!) when she isn’t working or studying. Cats are her favorite animals and she has a cat named Bella!

Miss Sam graduated from high school with a license in cosmetology. She has since decided to refocus her career path to her true passion – Early Childhood Education. Miss Sam is a recent graduate from the Community College of Rhode Island. She is continuing her education at Rhode Island College studying psychology with a minor in Behavioral Neuroscience. She started with us as an assistant in the older infant classroom and is now the lead teacher in the Sea Turtle room! Miss Sam likes to get creative with the kiddos in her classroom, both in play activities and artwork!

Miss Allie became a part of our family in the summer of 2017 and we love having her here! She comes with many years' experience in customer service from The Mews Tavern, as well as lots of time spent working as a camp counselor and a Preschool Teacher's Aide! Her young daughter, Emma, is her inspiration to further her career in childcare and we are thrilled to have her as a part of our team.

Miss Ely officially joined our team in June 2019. Prior to that, she spend a semester completing school practicum hours in our Get Set classroom as part of her degree program. Going back farther than that, Miss Ely has spent time as a Junior Counselor at Casey Farm as well as working at her church nursery and Vacation Bible School. Miss Ely started playing softball at age 8 and still enjoys playing in her free time. A fun fact about Miss Ely is that she is a second degree black belt!

Miss Mina joined our teaching team at the end of her junior year at Dean College where her coursework is teaching her about young children and their development. During her college career, Miss Mina has spent time in a local preschool completing practicum hours and continuing to put into practice what she is learning. After completing her Bachelor's degree in May 2020, Miss Mina joined us as a full time co-teacher in our preschool room!

Miss Rhonda joined our preschool teaching team in the summer of 2019 bringing over 10 years of preschool teaching experience with her! Teaching in multiple schools prior to Goddard, Miss Rhonda has many activities that she is ready to share. She is looking forward to learning the Goddard way of teaching and being an active part of the development of the younger preschool classroom.

Miss Michaela has been in the early childhood field since 2017. Prior to teaching she was a dining services supervisor at a local retirement community for five years. She has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember and often reflects on the days when she lined up her stuffed animals and dolls to teach them simple addition and spelling on an old chalkboard. She recalls her preschool and pre-k years and wants to make sure that every child feels like an individual in their world. Miss Michaela believes that all children are valued, unique and special. A quote that she lives by is, "Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid" (Albert Einstein) and bases her own teaching philosophy around this quote. A fun fact about Miss Michaela is that she started an after school art club during her senior year in high school which is still actively running.

Miss Hannah joined our infant teaching team bringing two years of experience from a different early childhood setting with her. Miss Hannah grew up in the South County area and completed two years of college studying Human Services. She is continuing to work towards an Early Childhood Education degree. In addition to her time spent with our older infants here at the Goddard School, Miss Hannah loves to spend time with her two dogs!

Miss Courtney joined our teaching team looking to share her kind, calm personality with the children in our school. She grew up in South Kingstown and after graduating from high school she attended the University of Rhode Island where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English. After graduating from URI, she spent some time working at a local library. Since joining us at The Goddard School, Miss Courtney can often be found teaching the children in the Sea Turtle classroom, but you may also find her helping out in the infant classrooms.

Miss Bella is a Chariho High School graduate and during her high school career she was involved in the Early Childhood program which set her up for success in early childhood settings. In addition to coursework, Bella also completed internships in a 6th grade classroom, a 3rd grade classroom, and a pre-k classroom. Her experiences and coursework opened her eyes to what it’s like to teach children. She is also familiar with the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) which guide curriculum in the classroom. Miss Bella enjoys spending time at the beach and surfing and she is also a food and music enthusiast!

Miss Caron brings a background in Elementary Education with her to Goddard. She has experience working with infants through preschool and raised three children of her own! Miss Caron is most often found with our youngest toddlers, but you may find her in the infant room at times. In addition to her love for teaching young children, Miss Caron enjoys decorating and design, and DIY projects!

Miss Heather joined our faculty in the summer of 2018. She graduated from Chariho High School in 2018 with a Teacher Assistant Certificate in Early Childhood Education, and during which time she worked as an intern in the preschool located within the school.

Miss Heather enjoys reading and writing in her spare time, as well as dabbling in music! She also likes to be creative and make jewelry.

Miss Jess joined our summer teaching team after graduating from the Prout School in June 2019. She brings experience from working as a camp counselor (both a summer camp and a theater camp!), a Children's Liturgy teacher, and a babysitter. Miss Jess is excited to expand her knowledge of early childhood development as she engages in play in a variety of our classrooms here at The Goddard School. In addition to her commitment to education, Miss Jess enjoys playing softball, tennis and basketball! She also enjoys the arts (theater specifically) and spending time hanging out with her friends.

Miss Lindsey joined us while she was studying Early Childhood Education at the University of Rhode Island. Prior to her college career, Lindsey completed many Early Childhood courses in high school, resulting in a Teacher Assistant Certification, and RIELDS Certification. She has extensive experience working with young children in school settings, home settings, and camp settings.

When she isn't at school or work, Miss Lindsey enjoys spending time outside at the beach or going on hikes with her dog. She also likes to shop!

Miss Makenna joined us here at The Goddard School while she takes a temporary break from working on her Bachelor’s Degree. She is mid-way through her degree at East Carolina University where she is studying Special Education. Along with her college courses, she has experience working with young children as a camp counselor here in Rhode Island. In addition for her love for learning about development, she enjoys her pets, going to the beach, and spending time at her grandparent’s cabin on a lake in Maine!

Miss Trinity is the second oldest of eight children! Needless to say, being around children is something that comes with ease in her world. Miss Trinity’s experience with early childhood education began at Chariho’s Career and Tech Center where she took classes related to childhood development and spent time completing practicums/internships in the field. In addition to teaching at The Goddard School and attending URI, Miss Trinity tutors students in math and science and runs her mother’s business website. When she is not working or studying, Miss Trinity enjoys reading, drawing/artwork, and spending time with her friends and family.
