Salted Snowflake Craft

Help your little ones discover art and science with these painted salt snowflakes!*

Materials

Thick, white cardstock
Table salt (a lot)
White glue
Paint brush
Liquid watercolor paint or food coloring
Water

Directions

Help your child create snowflake shapes with glue on the cardstock. You can either freehand them or draw a snowflake on the cardstock that your child can then trace with glue.
Pour lots of salt over the glue snowflake.
Let the salt sit for a minute and then dump the excess salt off of the cardstock.
Dip your paintbrush into the watercolor or food coloring and then dab it onto the salted snowflake. Watch as the salt absorbs the color!
Continue this process until your snowflake is colored in and enjoy your unique art!

Making Memories Together

Winter Sensory Bag

Bring a little bit of the season inside with this fun sensory activity!*

Materials

Clear hair gel at least 16 oz
Gallon size freezer bag
Cotton balls
Mini marshmallows
Cellophane glitter (optional)
Glitter
Duct tape or packing tape

Directions

Fill up the freezer bag with at least half of the bottle of hair gel.
Add in the cotton balls, glitter, mini marshmallows and any other small winter-themed items you want to include.
Seal the bag closed and then use packing tape or duct tape to seal it again.
For an added sensory bonus, put this bag into the freezer for a few minutes before you let your kids play with it.

*All activities should be supervised by an adult.
