Shelly, Director Shelly was born in Appleton, Wis., but has lived in Memphis since 1982. She has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education from the University of Memphis and has taught 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and kindergarten, as well as working in administration.

Shelly has also administered testing for admissions, including KSEALS, KABC, KTEA and CPAA.


Mrs Debbie, Assistant Director I moved from Tennessee from Columbus, Ohio in June of 2014. In Ohio, I graduated from a community college with my Associates degree. While in college I started working in early childhood. I have nearly 13 years experience with all ages (infant-school age).

I love my family! Making memories with my family (husband, son, parents, siblings, nieces and nephews), makes me very happy. We are a Buckeye family...Go Buckeyes!
Children amaze me, especially the young ones. I love to watch children grow and learn. Seeing a child light up from excitement and just being happy makes me happy. Teaching children at a young age keeps me young at heart!

Ms Pamela, Assistant Director Ms. Pam is from Oak Park/Forest Park Ill., and owned and operated a childcare facility for 21 years before relocating to the Memphis area. She has a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

Ms. Pam enjoys making a difference in children's lives and doing what it takes to help their development.

Mrs Haley, Lead Teacher My name is Haley Berryman. I graduated from Brighton High School in May 2015. I received my associates degree in Early Childhood Education in May 2018. I'm from Brighton, TN, but I currently live in Atoka, TN. I got married in October 2017 and we now have an infant daughter named Oaklynn. I have worked in child care since my Junior year of High school, in the school system, and at a local daycare. My favorite things are: My daughter, camping, shopping, food!
What I enjoy about teaching is the feeling you get when you accomplish teaching a child something they didn't know.

Mrs Meg, Lead Teacher Meg comes to The Goddard School with more than 14 years experience in early childcare education, including four years as a director. She is a great addition to our infant room.

Brooke, Lead Teacher Brooke is from Indiana, and moved to Ohio after high school. She has experience working for The Goddard School in Ohio. Also, she has fifteen years experience working with infant through school-age children.
Brooke has two children of her own. She enjoys working with children and watching them learn in their environment.
She is currently working on her CDA credentials.


Christa, Lead Teacher I am from Olive branch, MS. I attended the University of MS and received my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I worked for 7 years in Desoto County Schools as a special Education teacher. I worked in an Early Childhood Education facility for four years before coming to Goddard. While working in a preschool setting, my main age groups were infants and toddlers.

I love to read. I love learning new things. I am very passionate about teaching. I am very structured, but loving and very routined.

The bond that I form with my students and their parents can never be replaced. I firmly believe these babies' education starts as infants, and I do everything in my ability to get them ready for their next step. Most days, we are who these children see for the majority of their days. I want that time to be nurturing, fun, structured, a peace of mind; knowing their precious ones are safe and taken care of.


Ms Madison, Lead Teacher I am from Memphis, TN. I attended Lipscomb University where I spent a year in nursing school. While in school, I worked part time at Children First Montessori School, where I found my passion for teaching. I graduated with child and family studies in May 2018. I have endless childcare experience from daycare, to camp counselors,to volunteer, and babysitting.
I have an 18 month old daughter who is my entire life. We are attached at the hip. I love being outdoors and hiking or walking. I have a black cat named Boo Boo(Stella calls her Boo Boo Kitty) and a bunny. I love diet coke!
I love being able to see the light bulb go off in a child when they figure something out. I want to use positive reinforcement to help each child grow,so they look forward to winning each day.
I had a poor experience in school from Pre k through 12th
grade. I hope to be able to make a positive impact on each child and set them up for a better future, and instill confidence at a young age.

Nicole, Lead Teacher Ms. Nicole attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies in May 2015. She hopes to get her masters in Education.
She loves spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Nicole always has a smile on her face and loves to make people laugh. She loves music and has been involved in music programs since she was very young. Going to concerts is something she loves to do in her spare time.
She says “Teaching is such a rewarding job. I love knowing that I am teaching children the building blocks of their future.”


Ms Tori, Lead Teacher Ms. Tori was born and raised in Memphis and earned her Bachelor's Degree in child and family studies from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She loves hearing and seeing things from a child's point of view and is a wonderful addition to the Gentle Giraffes.

Ms Bralyn, Lead Teacher I am from Flowood, Mississippi. I have lived in Collierville, TN for 14 years. I graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, with a degree in Education, Health, and Human Sciences. Growing up, I was always the first to babysit until I landed an awesome co-teacher position for a preschool classroom in Knoxville. I've also completed 510 service hours at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
I love to exercise! I love to go to the park to workout.
I absolutely love to travel! My family and I vacation twice per year. I love to spend time with my family. I love to try new things, and enjoy meeting new people.
I love the relationship that I get to build with each individual child. I love to teach kids new things, and how to properly handle feelings and emotions. I enjoy getting to know parents and having a collaborative relationship in raising their children.

Ms Bralyn

Emily, Lead Teacher Emily was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She is married and has a young son. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Elementary Education. She has taught elementary children, K-8.
Emily's favorite thing to do is, going to the zoo with her son. She loves Harry Potter movies also. The one thing that keeps her grounded is, Yoga practice, and as always, Saturday football.
She enjoys teaching and watching children grasp concepts for the first time. A child's smile warms her heart.


Ms Kayla, Lead Teacher I am originally from TN. I moved to Oklahoma once I graduated high school at Houston High School. I went to Southwestern Oklahoma State University for 5 years, and I graduated with my Early Childhood Education degree.

I love food. I love to find new places to eat and try new foods. I love to shop for grown-up clothes these days at New York and Company. I love to read new books whenever I find time. I collect candles for my future dream home.

I enjoy the flexibility and unpredictability of every day. There are always new surprises every day when teaching children. I love getting to know every student so that we can have a family unit relationship.

Ms Angel, Lead Teacher I have lived in TN most of my life. I graduated from the University of Memphis. I have been working in child care since I was 16 years old.

I love to draw and work on creative projects. I enjoy music and I am in the process of learning how to play the bass guitar, I also love makeup and fashion.

I love being able to help children understand their world. I am a third generation teacher in my family, so it's in my blood. I love when I am able to teach a child something, they retain that information, and want to learn more. My goal in life is to make sure children get the most out of learning in these crucial first years of life.

Patcharin, Lead Teacher Patcharin is from Thailand, where she received a Bachelor's degree and taught 2nd grade. In 2010, she moved to Maryland for a work study program as an au pair, then relocated to the Memphis area in 2014.
While working in a licensed daycare, she studied Early Childhood Education and received her degree in 2016.
Patcharin has over 9 years of experience working with children.
Patcharin loves to cook and she enjoys food from a variety of cultures. She loves to travel and enjoys learning about history.
Also, she was a tour guide at the ancient ruins in the former capital of Thailand.
The most rewarding aspect of teaching is seeing children accomplish something independently that we have been working towards in the classroom.


Courtney, Lead Teacher Courtney Jordan is from Memphis, Tennessee. She attended Southwind High of Memphis and has her CDA in Preschool. Courtney is working on her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education Administration. She has been working with young children for 2 years. Courtney has a bright and energetic personality. She enjoys making an impact in a child's life.


Ms Hannah, Lead Teacher I am from Memphis, TN. I attended middle Tennessee state University in Murfreesboro, TN. During my college career, I gained experience by working at a childcare center on campus. I graduated in May with a Bachelor's in Child Development and family studies.
I love to sing. I also love to do hair and makeup. I love flowers especially sunflowers. I love animals, and I hope to own a dog soon!
I enjoy making an impact on the lives of many children. It is an honor for me to be able to teach them and watch them learn and grow during the early years of their development. The relationships built between my students and their families are very important to me.

Jothilakshmi, Lead Teacher I am from India(Tamil Nadu). I completed my M.SC, M.Phil,and B.ED, in India. I worked as a teacher for 2 years in India. In US, I worked as a Math teacher for 1 1/2 years and substitute teacher for 6 months.
I like to do shopping time with my kids, then long trips. I love to have fun and play teaching. I like to be with kids.


Meyyammai, Lead Teacher Meyyammai has worked as an Early Childhood professional for eight years. Her experience ranges from toddlers to school-age children. She holds a bachelor and master degree from India. In her free time, Mey loves working with arts and crafts. She has used art as a grasping tool for teaching young children.

Mey learns new things from the children when working with them. She enjoys bringing out the unique qualities of each child.


Amanda, Lead Teacher Amanda is from Memphis, Tennessee, but she has been living in Southaven Mississippi for 10 years. Amanda went to the University of Mississippi and has a Bachelor's in Education. She has 10 years of experience working with young children.
Amanda loves to read, play games, crafting, spending time with her family and helping out at the church.
Amanda enjoys being with children and seeing their faces light up because they have learned something new. She feels it is an honor to work with children.


Mary, Lead Teacher Ms. Mary, a lead teacher in one of our preschool rooms, is from Tupelo, Miss., and moved to Germantown, about 4 1/2 years ago! She attended The University of Mississippi and studied Psychology. For over 8 years, Ms. Mary worked at the North Mississippi Medical Child Care Center teaching children from 3 to 13 years old.


Ms Brittany, Lead Teacher I am originally from Jacksonville, FL. I moved to Memphis in 2013. I have a bachelor of science in Music and minored in professional Education. I have student taught elementary music and have done volunteer work involving children, including a home school music program.
I love movies and parks. I Love to have fun and laugh. I also enjoy traveling and discovering new things.
Seeing the excitement children get when they learn something new.

Courtney, Lead Teacher I attended the University of Memphis for both undergrad & grad school. I just graduated with my Master of Arts in Teaching in May.

I love to dance. My new hobby is aerial Fitness Yoga. I teach kindergarten throughout the school year.

I enjoy watching the kids learn and seeing how far they have come and can go.


Ms Danielle, Lead Teacher I have a degree in Early Childhood Development, from Columbus State. I have been working with children in many different roles for over 20 years. I moved to Memphis from Michigan in 2015.

I have three daughters either working in, or pursuing a degree in the Medical field. In my spare time I enjoy trail running, mountain biking, and traveling.

I love to see the look on a child's face, and hear the excitement in their voice, when they have done something for the first time.

Ms Jennifer, Lead Teacher I was born and raised in and around North Mississippi. I graduated from the University of Memphis in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. I have worked with children for seven years in various child care facilities.

I'm newly married and live in Olive Branch with my husband and our three beloved pups! I love playing with my dogs, going out to eat with my husband, and relaxing with a movie. I also like to work out at my local gym, and running at the park.

Teaching, to me, is so rewarding! I love to see the smiles on children's faces when they learn something new. It is truly rewarding to make such an impact on their lives.

Ms Yolanda, Lead Teacher I was born and raised in Hardeman, County. During my last year of high school. My family relocated to Jackson, TN, therefore, I graduated from Jackson Central Merry High, in Madison County. Graduate of Lane College with a B.A. in Interdiciplinary studies, Lead preschool teacher at C.C.USA in Nashville, TN, provided support and assistance in Davidson, County and Madison County schools, and phonics intervention/coordinator within J.M.C.S.S.

I love helping people. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends. I'm a fan of candles, jewelry, music, food, and DIY projects.

Language and Science are my favorite subjects to teach, and Social/Emotional Developmental content as well.

Andrea, Lead Teacher I was born and raised in Bavaria, Germany. I moved to the U.S. in 2006. I am a State Certified Educator, and received my BS in Education from the Professional Academy of Social Pedagogy in Bamberg, Germany. I also hold a Montessori. I have 25+ years teaching experience, and have taught infants and mixed age classes of 3-6 years old children.
I am happily married to my husband, Lanier, since 2001. We have no children but own 9 pets. In my free time I like to be outside in nature or spend time sitting under one of our pecan trees and read a book.
Since I was a young girl growing up, I wanted to be a teacher. I love the interaction and seeing kids grow as future adults. Also, the impact I have on a child's early life always amazes me.


Lisa, Lead Teacher Ms. Lisa, a co-lead teacher in one of our pre-kindergarten rooms, was born and raised in Ohio and received a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University. She has more than 23 years experience in child care, working mostly with pre-kindergarten-aged children.


Gloria, Lead Teacher I am originally from St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. I Went to University of Memphis where I graduated with a Bachelors of Education. I recently worked in other preschool environments as well as worked at all inclusive Summer Camps.
I love to spend my weekends outdoors & being a foodie. I enjoy swimming, Bike riding, & kayaking.
I enjoy watching a child's educational growth, seeing how excited a kid gets once they have accomplished something they thought they couldn't, or wanted to give up on.


Tracie, Assistant Teacher I spent the first 40 years of my life in Memphis and hope to spend the next 40+ years on our farm in Northeast, Mississippi. I went to CBU (the first year it was co-ed), and U of M (when it was still Memphis State). I have worked with children since I was in Jr. High-but have been teaching preschool for 14 years. I began as a preschool/kindergarten music teacher for 5 ½ years, then worked as a floater/resource coordinator for 7 ½ years, and now I substitute.
Music has been my life since I was 17-teaching private piano for 20 years, choreographing musical routines, and playing piano for my church. I enjoy interior design, sewing, refinishing furniture, and gardening. I also enjoy going on walks through the woods in the winter…it’s so peaceful! I have 3 grandchildren (8, 5, 3), and treasure every moment spent with them. I have also been married for 36 years. ?
I think I need the children as much as they need me. They are so amusing with their various personalities, and so inquisitive as they explore new things. I love having a part in their development, and also being a part of their lives. I miss them when I’m not here, and I feel so loved when they are glad to see me. I enjoy the challenges of trying to understand each child, and knowing how to relate to each one individually! It’s in my DNA. My goal since childhood was to get married, have children, and teach.


Allison, Resource Allison is currently attending Collierville High School. She has always loved working with children. She plans to attend the University of Memphis at the Jackson campus. Her major is in Accounting.
Allison's hobbies are fashion and make-up.


Ms Anitha, Resource I am from India, I completed school and college in India, I started my career in 2000 as a teacher, 2005 as a lecturer and again 2010-2012, as a Preschool teacher. Together I have 9 years of experience.

I love dancing, Art, like painting, craft work, doodle art. I love to cook for my family.

Teaching is an art, since each and every child is unique in character, lot to learn from them. I personally feel through teaching I can mold a child to a good citizen.

Anna, Resource I am from Louisville, Kentucky. I went to Western Kentucky University. Even when I was a child, I always enjoyed taking care of, and interacting with younger children. I probably had 30 baby dolls as a young child. In High School, we held cheer camps for kids, I had a lot of fun during those while being a leader. In college, I spent a lot of time in Middle School classrooms.
I love exercise and the outdoors. Being in Nature, caring for my health, my family, friends, and my cat, are important to me. I love to laugh, and I try to always focus on the positive, happy, & funny moments in life.
I love the perspective of a child/student. The mentality of a young person is very unique compared to older people. Children have this unreplicable joy & and curiosity toward the world, and it is inspiring to me. I love to make an impact in people's lives, so I really value being a part of these favorite years.

Ms Chelbe , Resource Born in Cleveland, MS, I attended Cleveland High School and attended Mississippi State University. I received my Masters degree at Mississippi College. Throughout the years, I have grown a deep passion to work with my education in Psychology and mental health counseling. I have experienced working with children from infant to 17 years old, as a previous teacher's assistant, substitute teacher and crisis counselor(current), my passion continues to grow for children.
I enjoy collecting candles and reading books. My favorite places to eat are Red Lobster and Wing Stop. I love coffee, hot and cold! My favorite drink from Starbucks is a Caramel Brulee. I have a 2 year old Yorkie, named Ryleigh. I am a Grey's Anatomy fan. I love the Winter, enjoy wearing boots and scarves. I love fruit! I am learning to make smoothies which is enjoyable.
I enjoy building a bond with children and figuring out words they are trying to pronounce. Helping families learn ways to help their children grow and learn, are enjoyable.

Chong, Resource Chong is a Korean American. She has been married for thirty-two years and has two children. Chong has traveled many places during her husband's service time in the US Navy. She attended college in California where she studied Early Childhood Education.

Chong has worked with young children at her local church.
She is a Christian and enjoys time with family and friends. She believes that children are our future leaders and she wants to be a part of educating our future leaders.


Ms Cindy, Resource I am from Memphis, TN (born and raised). I graduated from Bishop Byrne High School and Memphis State University. My degree is in Engineering Technology with a focus in computer Systems. I have been married to my husband Greg for over 25 years. I have 2 sons Matthew, and Jonathan. For the last 20 years I have been substitute teaching in Shelby County and 2 Diocese of Memphis Catholic Schools at all grade levels.
I am looking forward to the experience the Goddard School will bring me.

My ultimate favorite things are my family. I have enjoyed being a mom and wife. When I have free time, I am in my backyard gardening, researching genealogy, or shopping. I like to see children learn new things-that "light bulb" going off, also seeing children explore their world through learning.

Elise, Resource I am from Collierville, TN. I graduated from Union University, in Jackson, TN. I have worked part time at a preschool, a couple of nurseries, and tutored homeschoolers, as well as having various babysitting responsibilities.

Hannah, Resource I am from a small town of Atlanta, Georgia. I moved to Memphis when I was 10. I graduated from University of Memphis with a degree in Psychology.

I love to dance and read. I did ballet for 20 years. Any chance I get, I'll read. I love being outside, especially at the zoo or the beach. I also love baking and trying new recipes.

Marina, Resource I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I was home schooled, but studied to attain my CDA through Ashworth College based in Atlanta, Georgia. My mother owned her own in home childcare "Magnificent Me" which maintained a 3 star status the entire 8 years she was opened. I worked alongside my mother for 3 years before working at The Goddard School.

I enjoyed visiting local eateries, Museums and flower shops. I also enjoy reading and broadening my vocabulary.

As a substitute teacher, I pride myself on knowing each and every child at The Goddard School. No matter what class i'm in, the parents and students always feel comfortable with me around, and ultimately that's what I enjoy.


Ms Prathima, Resource I am from India. I lived in U.S. for 14 years. I am a mom of two girls. I went to school in Canada for 3 years. My oldest daughter goes to U T H SC, she is doing her second year of dental school. My youngest daughter goes to Houston High, she is a freshman. I love kids, I am deeply motivated with them.

I love to sing, play with kids, when everything is done, I just like to listen to music.

I just like to play games with children. The cuteness is so wonderful with each child.

Ms Shardaye, Resource I'm from Memphis, TN. I graduated from the University of Memphis, with a degree in Psychology and Minor in Child Development, and Sociology. I also have plans to receive my Masters.
I've worked at a child development center, a counseling center for children and families, and as an intern for a summer camp! I also have experience as a child watch worker.
I love to travel, try new things, eat seafood, and spend time with my family & friends!

Shuang, Resource I am from China. I graduated from The Open University of China, with a Bachelor Degree. I have 7 years experience in middle school, 3 years experience in elementary school, and 4 years experience in preschool.

I love playing piano, it helps me learn self discipline and the goal-setting process. I also love gardening and photography.

I love getting to know the kids, to see their smiling faces everyday, and to watch them grow in knowledge and confidence.
