Water Safety
Splash your way through summer, safely, of course!
Never leave children unattended near water, even if it’s only a few inches deep.
Dispose of any standing water.
When swimming, make sure your child wears a U.S. Coastguard approved life jacket.
Get children into swim lessons—the younger the better.
Be vigilant with children around water. There should always be always at least one adult supervising children in or near the water.
Swim where lifeguards are present.
For year-round water safety, don’t forget to purchase a toilet seat safety lock to keep curious little ones out.
Sun Safety
Have fun in the sun all summer long with these simple safety tips.
Keep infants younger than 6 months in the shade as much as possible.
Dress infants younger than 6 months in lightweight long sleeve shirts, pants and a brimmed hat.
For children older than 6 months, always apply sunscreen that has an SPF of at least 30. And remember to reapply!
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun when it’s strongest—between 10 am and 4 pm—when possible.
Outdoor Safety
Safely explore the great outdoors all season.
Clear away any clutter from outdoor play spaces, such as sharp sticks, tools or trash.
Teach children not to play in the street.
Complete a thorough tick check after outside playtime.
