As Co-Owner of The Goddard School in Farmington, I am thrilled to be surrounded by the laughter and enthusiastic personalities of young children everyday!

My education is in Human Development and Family Studies, however, my experiences in corporate sales and operations management, took me in another direction, which ultimately has helped to prepare me to lead The Goddard School.

It is important to me to create an environment where the needs of our children come first and where every parent and child who walks through our doors feels welcomed and valued.

In my free time I enjoy being with my family, spending time outside, fall fairs and festivals and traveling!

The preschool years are a whirlwind of boundless energy filled with enthusiasm and endless curiosity! At The Goddard School, our teachers nurture, inspire, and encourage our children to grow intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. We strive to meet the needs of each student and help them to explore and grow beyond. It is our mission to foster a love for learning in each of our students.

As an educator and Co-Owner of The Goddard School, this is an exciting opportunity for me as I join our families and faculty in providing the best possible early childhood environment filled with experiences that will help shape our young children for a bright, successful future in school and in life!

On a personal note, my husband, Michael, and I are parents to Wyatt, Quinn and Stetson. Stetson currently attends The Goddard School, Wyatt and Quinn recently graduated from The Goddard School (PreK class of 2015 and 2018). I am committed to providing strong leadership and support for all of our teachers as well as a fun, loving, and safe “home away from home” for your children!

Miss Marissa

Miss Courtney, Director
My name is Courtney Schiavone and I am the Educational Director here at The Goddard School. I have worked in the Early Childhood field for just about 25 years in many positions from teaching in Infant and toddler programs to enrollment counselors. The last 5 years I have held Director positions. I hold a bachelor’s in business management from Albertus Magnus, however, have taken many courses in the ECE field to support my passion.

I am so excited to join the Goddard Family. I love to support the faculty and families any way I can so we can continue together to maintain a high-quality program that ensures individual child support while offering challenging and engaging curriculum.

In my free time, I spend time with my husband, four children and two dogs in Rocky Hill. They keep me busy and entertained! When I’m not supporting one of my children’s extracurricular activities, you can find me taking walks, going to the movies or hanging out by our pool.

I love children’s literature, but one of my favorite stories is 'Today I feel Happy' by Jamie Lee-Curtis. It is a great story about self-identifying emotions and allowing ourselves to be in the moment.

My name is Miss Valerie and I am so grateful to be a part of the Goddard family!

I have always enjoyed working with children and love the creative aspect that is a part of the early childhood environment. I have had the pleasure of teaching in both the Toddler and Preschool age groups providing children with a nurturing environment where they can learn and explore. I have been part of the Administrative Team here at The Goddard School since 2014. As a Director I enjoy working alongside the teaching staff as well as the administrative team to help ensure all needs are met within the school!

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family hiking, fishing or just relaxing!

My name is Miss Mandy and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Lovable Lambs (infant) Classroom. I have over 21 years of experience in the Preschool Setting ranging from the Infant Classroom up to School Age.

I have an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. I chose to work at The Goddard School because it is a caring and well run school and program. The faculty and directors are knowledgeable and kind. I specifically chose to work in the infant classroom because I love being a part of their milestones and find beauty in the trust and bonds that are built during this time. In my free time I enjoy going for walks with my dog, spending time with family and friends, reading, and watching movies.

My favorite children’s book is ‘Guess How Much I Love you’ by Sam McBratney, ‘The Little Critter’ books by Mercy Mayer and all Dr. Seuss books.

My name is Miss Nicole and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Delightful Ducks (Young Toddler) Classroom. I am so excited to be a part of The Goddard School family!

I enjoy working with children as I find the career to be an extremely rewarding one! Putting in hard work to create relationships with my students and their families is so fulfilling to me.

In my free time I like reading, enjoying the outdoors during the nice weather, and spending time with my son.

My name is Miss Denise and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Playful Piggies (Toddler) Classroom. I have been working at The Goddard School since 2014 and during that time have enjoyed encouraging children to explore their world, while watching how they each discover their own way and love of learning! I choose to work at The Goddard School because I believe in helping each child maximize their learning through play. Young children are wonderful to work with because of the energy and excitement they bring into the classroom each day!

I have my Child Development Associates Degree as well as my Head Teacher Certificate for the State of Connecticut. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, running, mountain biking and singing at my local church.

My favorite children’s book is 'Where the Wild Things Are' by Maurice Sendak.

My name is Miss Molly and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Gleeful Goats (Young Toddler) Classroom. I chose to work with children because I love to watch them learn. There is no greater feeling than knowing you’ve helped shape a student’s life for the better!

I have over 10 years of experience in the Preschool setting ranging from the infant classroom up to the Preschool Classroom. I chose to work at The Goddard School because I love that they share in my love for a playful learning environment for students! In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being outside, going on hikes and other adventures with my dogs and Fiance.

My favorite children’s book is ‘Oh the places you will go’ by Dr. Suess and ‘The little Engine that could’ by Watty Piper’.

My name is Miss Tanya and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Gleeful Goats (Toddler) classroom. I chose to work at The Goddard School because I enjoy being surrounded by the professional, intelligent, respectful and fun co-workers here! I enjoy working with toddlers because I love seeing their growth over the school year, watching my students learn and achieve is the ultimate prize for a teacher!

I have completed two years of classes in Early Childhood Education and am currently working on my Child Development Associates Degree. I have been working with children of this age for 33 years in a Preschool setting and am extremely passionate about early childhood education!

In my free time I love to be with my 3 grandchildren! I love to go to the beach in the summer with my family, traveling and sometimes even fishing with my husband.

My name is Miss Alyssa and I am a Co-Lead Teacher in the Remarkable Rabbits (Older Toddler) Classroom at The Goddard School.

I have been working at The Goddard School since 2017 and have been lucky enough to work with children of all ages. I am so excited to be working with our older toddler students in the Rabbits Classroom! They are so inquisitive at this age and are learning so much!

In my free time I enjoy shopping.

I have my degree in Primary Education from Honduras. I chose to work at The Goddard School because of the way they care for and educate children. It is very apparent in the days here. In my free time I love to read books and listen to music

I have my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Development and Education from the University of Connecticut. I have enjoyed working with children ages 1-3. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking and playing scrabble!

My name is Miss Tena and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Respectful Roosters (Pre-K) Classroom. I have been working in the childhood and education field for 19 years. I especially enjoy the Preschool/Pre-K age because they challenge me to look at their world through their eyes as they discover new skills.

I have a Child Development Associates degree and my Head Teacher Certificate. I chose to work at The Goddard School because the school provides a stimulating environment where children have the freedom to grow and learn at their own pace. In my free time I enjoy reading, watching old movies from the 1930s-1940s, hiking and going to concerts.

My name is Miss Nikki and I am the Lead Teacher in the Cheerful Chicks (Preschool 3s) Classroom. I have always enjoyed being around children and am so excited to be an integral part of their learning experience here at The Goddard School!

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Sociology and Political Science. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, walking, hiking, swimming and spending time with my dog.

My name is Miss Jessie and I am the co-lead teacher in the Helpful Horses (Pre-K) Classroom! I have had the pleasure of working with children of all different ages for the past 5 years! I also have a 5 year-old step daughter who has taught me so much!

I have my bachelor’s degree in Child Psychology/Disability Services. I chose to work at The Goddard School because there is a strong emphasis on early childhood education. Children are learning something new every singe day to prepare them for their roles in society. I enjoy the preschool age because the children can engage in conversation about what they are learning, as well as I enjoy being involved in their preparation for Kindergarten and beyond. In my free time I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, playing with my puppy, painting, cooking and spending as much time as possible outside!

My name is Miss Megan and I am the Co-Lead Teacher in the Helpful Horses (Pre-K) classroom. I chose to work at The Goddard School because I truly believe in their philosophy. Children are naturally very curious and I enjoy facilitating ways for their curiosity to bloom in the classroom!

I have my Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Studies. With my mom also being a Preschool Teacher, I have grown up familiar with the Preschool setting. While in college I taught Pre-K Summer school as well as worked on campus at their Preschool.

In my free time I love going on adventures with my dog Rhett, being with friends, and watching my alma mater, Auburn, sporting events. War Eagle!

My favorite children’s book is 'Madeline' by Ludwig Bemelmans. It is the first book I ever knew that had a little redheaded girl as the main character which made me feel very special!

Miss Celine, Assistant Teacher
My name is Miss Celine and I am an Assistant Teacher in the Lovable Lambs (Infant) and Precious Peacocks (mobile Infant) classrooms. Working with infants is truly an amazing and fascinating experience! I am so honored to be sharing in your baby’s life. I am fluent in French and I believe in surrounding young children with language, whether it be in the form of song or speech and I love to read and play with my students. I know how important cuddling is to your child’s development and you can be assured that there are plenty of hugs to go around at The Goddard School!

I have a Child Development Associates Degree in addition to Head Teacher Certification from the State of Connecticut and have worked in the childcare field for the past 17 years, 7 years working with infants, and at The Goddard School since 2013! I am a mother to two wonderful daughters and grandmother to a beautiful four-year-old granddaughter. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to getting to know your family, and becoming a part of your child’s early childhood development.

I have been working with children from infants to Kindergartners since 2010. I chose to work at The Goddard School because I loved the learning environment that is provided for the children, the families that we work with, as well as the faculty here! Specifically I love working with the infant age because each moment is a new adventure, reaching new developmental achievements each and every day!

My name is Miss Kim and I am a Substitute Teacher and our 'Quality Assurance Queen' at The Goddard School! Children at this age are growing and learning so quickly, it is so exciting to witness and be a part of this huge transition in their lives. My teaching philosophy recognizes that children learn best through play, that being said, I couldn't have chosen a better fit than The Goddard School! I have been with The Goddard School since 2015. Having been a Toddler Teacher for many years at The Goddard School, I am looking forward to my new position as a Substitute Teacher and our 'Quality Assurance Queen' which allows me to ensure all our classrooms are up to Goddard's Health and Safety Standards.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and have worked with Toddlers and Preschoolers for more than 6 years! In my free time, you can find me spending time with my daughter, son, and husband!

My name is Miss Melinda and I am the Co-Lead teacher in the Creative Cows Preschool Classroom. I believe in The Goddard School’s philosophy that children learn best through play and exploration in a nurturing environment.

I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Education as well as my Master’s Degree in Reading and Language Arts. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family. We love the outdoors, traveling and participating in athletics.

My favorite children’s author is Dr. Seuss. Not only is he one of the world’s most loved writers, but he is also my Great Grandfather’s cousin!

My name is Miss Tasia and I am a Resource Teacher at The Goddard School! I have been working with children in a Preschool setting for a few years, most recently at a before and after school program. I chose to work at The Goddard School because I firmly believe that playing best enhances a child’s learning. Seeing children grow and learn so quickly is an amazing experience!

I have my Associate’s Degree from Middlesex Community College. In my free time I enjoy hiking with my dog Luckie and keeping active by participating in fitness competitions.
