Ready. Set. Teach! Scholarship

Calling all educators! How do you inspire children to learn? Your answer could be worth $10,000! We encourage current and aspiring teachers to apply for the Ready. Set. Teach! scholarship.

The application window for this scholarship is now closed.

The READY. SET. TEACH! scholarship will provide one $10,000 merit-based scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year. The DEADLINE for applications is August 1, 2019. The winner will be announced on or after September 9, 2019.

HOW TO APPLY

• Complete the application;
• Submit a 500- to 1,000-word essay about your experience working with preschool-age children and your leadership ability as an education advocate for children, at work or in the community;
• Record a 30- to 120-second video about what has inspired you to become a teacher and how you will use your passion to inspire children;
• Submit all college transcripts.

Please send one email with all of the required items to scholarships@goddardsystems.com. If you’re mailing in hard copies of your transcripts or if your school will be sending them, let us know in your email. Full submission guidelines are outlined below.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:

• Be U.S. citizens, permanent residents or non-U.S. citizens living legally in the United States;
• Be current Goddard School employees or aspiring teachers not currently employed by The Goddard School;
• Be pursuing a minimum of a four-year college degree in early childhood education, elementary education, child development or a related field;
• Have finished the second year of college;
• Be able to demonstrate ability working with preschool-age children and child advocacy on their college campus or in the community.

ESSAY SUBMISSION

In your personal essay, describe your experience working with preschool-age children, your leadership skills and any experience you have advocating for children on campus, at work or in the community. Being a good advocate for children means acting as a positive role model and taking a personal interest in students. You motivate students by setting a good example and demonstrating a positive attitude. The word advocacy may suggest writing to Congress to influence government programs and policies. While that would be incredible and important (and if you’ve done it, please tell us!), it’s not the only way to advocate for young children. For example, did you create or modify a school program based on the interests of your students? For additional examples of advocacy, read about some of the Teacher of the Year Award winners. Entries should be between 500 and 1,000 words.

VIDEO SUBMISSION

Use the 30- to 120-second video to convince us that you’re a highly qualified and committed educator by addressing both of the following:

          • What has inspired you to become a teacher?
          • How will you use your passion to inspire children?

Video size should be 1280 x 720 pixels; we strongly recommend against compressing your videos. Videos longer than 120 seconds will not be considered, and the corresponding application will be considered incomplete. The video must be your original work and may not contain the work of others, which includes intellectual property, such as non-original music.

Upload your completed video to YouTube or Vimeo and send the link to us in your submission email.

TRANSCRIPT SUBMISSION

You must submit a transcript from all colleges and universities that you’ve attended. The transcripts must each indicate a cumulative GPA. Be sure to black out or hide any personal identifying information like a social security number. Goddard Systems, Inc. may verify the information you provide.

You can either scan and email the transcript or mail it in. If the transcript will be sent separately from the rest of your application, let us know in your email. Send any paper transcripts or applications to the following address:

ATTN: Ready. Set. Teach! Scholarship, Goddard Systems, Inc., 1016 West Ninth Ave., Suite 140, King of Prussia, PA 19406.

Everything sent through the United States Postal Service (USPS) must be postmarked no later than August 1, 2019.
