Jane & Genia, Owners
Jane Faynshetyn and Genia Kovelman are the proud owners of The Goddard School® located in Deerfield, Illinois.

Jane received her bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Psychology from Bradley University and her master's degree in Education from DePaul University. Prior to Goddard, Jane was an elementary school teacher, owned an Esthetic’s school and worked with a large social welfare non-for-profit organization (where Jane and Genia met!) Jane lives in Highland Park with her husband and two children.

Genia holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in History as well as a teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education. Prior to Goddard, Genia spent over 10 years in the non-for-profit industry. She launched and secured funds for a new department on cultural integration, worked with immigrant families on community involvement and organized fundraising events. Genia lives in Northbrook with her husband and three children.

Being working mothers and recognizing the need and demand for a high-quality alternative to daycare, they decided to open the Goddard School to offer families the absolute best experience in early childhood education. They are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for your children, healthy and nutritious meals cooked on site, and a wide variety of enrichment classes!

Ms Aretina, Director
Ms. Aretina graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Family Nutrition Sciences with an emphasis on Child Development. She comes to us with over 10 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. During her tenure, Ms. Aretina held many positions including Support Teacher, Preschool Teacher, Educational Coordinator, Quality Assurance Liaison and Administrative Assistant. Ms. Aretina enjoys working with children because she loves seeing the smiles on their faces when they learn something new!

Ms Candice, Director
Ms. Candice earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She has spent over 18 years in the Childcare industry in a variety of roles, and most recently as a Director. As she advanced in the field, she learned that supporting staff, families, and the community were all passions of hers.

Ms Arsala , Lead Teacher
Ms. Arsala is originally from Pakistan, where she earned her master’s degree in Business. She also spent 8 years working in the classroom as a teacher with children of all ages. Ms. Arsala is passionate about working with children and is excited to bring her ideas to Goddard. She currently resides in Northbrook with her family.

Ms Ellen, Lead Teacher
Ms. Ellen earned her Early Childhood Certificates from Oakton Community College and has taught infants and toddlers in addition to children with special needs for over thirty-five years. She has been married to her wonderful husband of 35 plus years and together they have two grown daughters and a dog names Romeo. Ms. Ellen and her family volunteer every year for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which is very near and dear to their hearts. In her spare time, Ms. Ellen likes to shop, (especially for shoes!), go to the movies, bake, cook, craft and anything that involves her family.

Ms Kelly, Lead Teacher
Ms. Kelly earned her Child Development Associate Credential in 2006 and has 19 years of experience caring for and teaching infants, toddlers and two year olds. She especially enjoys watching our youngest children explore the world and learn to form relationships. Originally from Illinois, Ms. Kelly and her family also lived in Southeastern Wisconsin and are avid outdoor enthusiasts! She has two grown sons who are her greatest joy. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Kelly enjoys cooking, yoga and being a “grandma” to her son’s dog.

Ms Dariia, Lead Teacher
Ms. Dariia became a teacher to help children maintain and grow their curiosity. She hopes to introduce them to new opportunities through her work as a teacher. Ms. Dariia holds a degree in Psychology and Social Pedagogy. She believes that the preschool setting is a creative world where each child is unique and hopes to lead by example.

Ms Olivia, Lead Teacher
Ms. Olivia was born and raised in Lake Forest, IL and is currently taking Early Childhood classes at the College of Lake County. She is working to obtain a degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development. In the past, Ms. Olivia has worked with children with autism doing Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). She has had several years of experience with children as a camp counselor and taught sailing over the summers on Lake Michigan and in Cape Cod, MA. Ms. Olivia has a love for plants, animals, and spending time in nature. She sees potential in anyone she meets and is excited to help children grow as individuals.

Ms. Olivia is currently working on her Associates degree in Early Childhood. She enjoys working with children of all ages and helping them realize their full potential. Ms. Olivia is a strong believer in teamwork and communication when it comes to childcare. In her spare time, Ms. Olivia enjoys baking and dancing!

Ms. Carmen earned her Associates Degree and is studying to be an attorney. She comes from a large family and grew up helping with younger siblings. In her free time, Ms. Carmen enjoys dancing and learning about cars!

Ms Mallery, Lead Teacher
Ms. Mallery has worked with children since she was a child herself! In the past, she has nannied, worked in home daycare's, and in preschools. Born and raised in Highland Park, Ms. Mallery loves that she can work with children in a familiar area. She studied Early Childhood Education and loves working with children to teach them life skills. In her spare time, Ms. Mallery enjoys cooking, hiking, yoga and just being outside!

Ms. Angela graduated from Saint Joseph's College with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a minor in Early Childhood Education. She has over 10 years of experience working with children with special needs. Ms. Angela is married to her college sweetheart and has the most amazing dog named Belle, a boxer mix. As a resident of Wheeling, Ms. Angela enjoys photography, music and binge watching T.V. shows! She also loves spending time with her family. Ms. Angela believes that every child has the right to learn in a way that is best for them.

Ms. Atra received her associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Canada. She has spent many years in the education field and has worked with children of all ages. Atra is happily married and enjoys cooking, shopping, traveling and spending time with her friends and family.

Ms Stephanie, Lead Teacher
Ms. Stephanie received her bachelor’s degree in Child Development from Northern Illinois University. She believes in building personal connections with each child to not only create a fun, loving environment, but to also formulate a sense of trust. She emphasizes communication with family members so they can also provide an active role in their child’s growth and learning. A resident of Arlington Heights, Ms. Stephanie spent many years as a Lead Teacher and always carries a big, bright smile on her face! Her favorite children’s book is Goodnight Moon. When she’s not working, she can be found at the gym or cooking new recipes with her family.

Ms. Nita studied musical theater at Columbia Performing Arts College in Chicago. She has worked with children for over 15 years and absolutely loves teaching. She lives in Lake County with her Husband and three children.

Ms. Jessica holds a degree in Criminal Justice Administration but has always had a passion for working with children and helping them grow and appreciate the world around them. She joins the Goddard School with over 10 years of experience in childcare. When Ms. Jessica is not at work she can be found spending time with her Morkie Max, cooking dinner for her family or enjoying a nice shopping trip!

Ms Kimberly, Lead Teacher
Ms. Kimmi grew up in Highland Park and graduated from Deerfield High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Go Illini!!) Ms. Kimmi has a passion for learning which she hopes to pass on to all children. When she is not in the classroom, Ms. Kimmi loves running, reading, watching Disney movies, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ms Kaitlin, Assistant Teacher
Ms. Kaitlin is from Northbrook, IL and has her associates’ degree in Arts and is currently working on an additional degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to joining the Goddard School of Deerfield, she spent several years as a preschool teacher and program instructor for summer camps. Ms. Kaitlin believes that each child is unique and should be able to learn at their own pace to become successful. Her goal is to make every child feel good about themselves and build positive relationships with each family that comes through her classroom door. In her spare time, Ms. Kaitlin loves spending time with her family and friends, and her English Springer Spaniels, Becky and Brooke.

Ms Kiana, Assistant Teacher
Ms. Kiana is from Chicago, Illinois and has been working in early childhood for over a decade with many different ages. She hopes to continue her degree in Early Childhood Education in the near future. Ms. Kiana has a strong love for art and hopes to introduce her passion to all of the children she teaches! Outside of Goddard, Ms. Kiana loves to go to the beach, cuddle up with a good book, and spend time with her friends!

Ms. Ryleigh grew up in Morton Grove and has been taking care of children since a young age. She believes that all children learn differently and should be treated with care. Ms. Ryleigh will continue to pursue her career in Early Childhood Education and hopes to grow into a lead teacher with The Goddard School. She is excited to make connections with children and watch them thrive. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 dogs and cat.

Ms. Sonali was born and raised in Mumbai, India. She received her degree in Science and has been a preschool teacher ever since coming to the United States. In her free time, Ms. Sonali loves painting landscapes and using acrylics on canvas. She also enjoys reading and cooking for family and friends.

Kitchen Assistant - Mr. Carlos has spent over 10 years working in Deerfield. He has experience in restaurants, hotels and schools. In his spare time, Mr. Carlos enjoys being with his family!

Fine Arts Teacher - Ms. Nadia holds her bachelor’s degree in Performance and Music Education from The Ufa State Institute of Arts in Russia. She has worked with children throughout her entire career and enjoys teaching music to the youngest learners! Children's excitement while they learn and perform is what ignites her passion for teaching. Ms. Nadia is a strong believer that music plays an integral part in children’s development. Her top priority is to ensure that children are having fun while learning new songs, dances, or dramatic plays.

Ms Tamara, Resource Cook Tamara has a degree in Culinary Arts and has spent much of her time before joining Goddard as a baker! She is passionate about working with children and making sure the food they eat is healthy and nutritious.
