Ms Gloria, Owner Gloria Fatato - Owner - Gloria was born and raised in Westchester County. At the age of fifteen, she was a recording star and made a few Rock and Roll records that made a little noise. Gloria enjoyed the entertainment business, but decided it wasn't for her. She has three wonderful children, and Gloria and her husband had a successful business for twenty five years. Gloria was excited for a new venture and fell in love with The Goddard School. With Gloria’s business expertise, and her daughter April’s proven experience and success in the field of Education, Gloria is enthusiastic and confident in your family’s experience at The Goddard School located in Yorktown Heights, and strives to provide a warm, loving environment while making a positive difference in your child’s life.
Ms April, Director April Fatato - On-Site Owner - As long as she can remember, children have been an inspiration to April. She is inspired by their curiosity towards learning and the discovery of life around them. April's background includes a Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Education and dual Master's degrees in Literacy and Special Education (Birth to Grade Six). She has been a NYC teacher for seven years and a Supervisor for college interns at Westchester Institute for Human Development, which is a tutoring program for foster care children. She is currently the Co-President of the Manhattanville College Early Childhood Alumni and board of directors for their annual conference on early childhood topics.
Despite her experience, April wanted to learn more about early childhood education and its importance in early intervention. She is now pursuing a PhD in Early Childhood Development preparing her phenomenological study on the factors that may affect a mother's decision to chose an early learning center.
Early in her career, April was a teacher at The Goddard School located in Suffern. She believes in Goddard's philosophy of learning. Goddard's curriculum and developmental milestones provide the well rounded environment that is needed to nurture a happy-confident learner. As an Owner and experienced educator, April believes The Goddard School located in Yorktown Heights provides the perfect fit!
Ms Madelene, Director Madelene- Educational Director Madelene is thrilled to join The Goddard School family. She received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Management. Madelene has experience as an early childhood teacher and elementary school teacher. Madelene fostered her love for teaching young children by pioneering writing programs that impacted their learning. Her professional career has given Madelene the drive and motivation to continue to make a difference in children's education. Her love for her three young children and her passion for teaching are evident in her role as Educational Director at The Goddard School.
Ms Marci, Lead Teacher Ms.Marcie is the lead teacher in the Infant Room. Marcie's professional career began in nursing as a licensed practical nurse for over 15 years. She has spent most of her career working with infants in child care. Marcie returned to school after a successful professional career to earn a Bachelors Degree in Human Service Management. Marcie feels so very blessed to have the opportunity to work with Infants over the years, watching them grow and learn all about their environments.
Ms Stephanie, Lead Teacher Ms. Stephanie is the lead teacher in our Firs Steps classroom. Ms. Stephanie has been working in childcare for almost 4 years. Before becoming a member of the Goddard family she was a teacher in a private preschool and a nanny for a family. Ms. Stephanie is pursuing her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education at Mercy College. For as long as she can remember, she has always wanted to make a difference in a child's life and make learning fun and interesting at the same time. Teaching is her passion and she really hopes to make an impact on all of her students.
Ms Karen Ann, Lead Teacher Ms.Karen is the lead teacher in the Toddler Room. She began as an Assistant Teacher in the Jumpin' Jellyfish and worked her way up to a Lead Teacher position. Karen is a mother of four children of her own, allowing her to be the caring and nurturing role model that toddlers need. Her career with preschoolers began 14 years ago where she worked with infants and toddlers at a preschool in the area, one for which she was employed by for 13 years before joining the Goddard Family. She is in the process of completing her CDA certification. Her extensive work with children from the infant to toddler stages makes her the perfect provider for all their needs.
Ms Ashley, Lead Teacher Ms. Ashley is the lead teacher in our Preschool Classroom. She began working with preschool aged children 5 years ago. Ashley worked as an instructor at My Gym where she managed classes and parties for children between the ages of 1-6. In 2011 Ashley took advantage of an opportunity to teach Universal Pre-K in the Bronx. While she enjoyed being the lead teacher of the 3's and 4's she chose a position closer to home so that she could complete her Master's Degree and continue to work full time. Ashley is working on completing a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and her dual certification in Childhood and Special Education at Mercy College.
Ms Kaitlin, Lead Teacher Ms. Kaitlin is the lead teacher in our Get Set Classroom. She recently graduated from York College of Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Elementary Education (K-6). She has worked with children of all ages prior to her start at the Goddard School and was a lead camp counselor for two years during college with the children ages 3-5. Kaitlin taught herself how to play guitar and does it wonderfully! She shares her love for music and dance with the children. We are pleased to have Kaitlin as part of our Goddard Family.
Ms Carina, Lead Teacher Ms.Carina is the lead teacher in our Preschool Classroom. Carina earned Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science from Mercy College as well as completed a dual Master’s Degree in Childhood Education and Students with Disabilities. She has over 6 years of experience working with both preschool aged children, as well as school aged children. Carina was the lead teacher in a preschool classroom for 3 years and became assistant director to the facility she worked for. Carina is excited to a be part of our Growing Goddard Family!
Ms Lindsey, Lead Teacher Ms. Lindsay is the lead teacher in our Pre-K classroom. Ms. Lindsey graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education and is working towards a Master’s Degree in Literacy and her certification in Early Childhood. Having worked with young children for nearly 10 years, Lindsey is nurturing and attentive to the needs of each child in her classroom. She is thrilled to be a part of the Goddard Family and the children have grown to love her.
Ms Arlene, Lead Teacher Ms. Arlene is our Kindergarten Assistant. Arlene attended Queens College where she majored in Psychology and Music. For as long as she can recall Arlene was drawn to early childhood development, both as a nanny and working in church with the youth group and directing the children’s Music Makers Choir. A Yorktown Heights resident for 14 years, Arlene has been married for 27 years, and has a son and daughter. Her career began at Con Edison where she worked for 17 years in their Customer Service and Law Departments. Asked to sub as a teacher’s aide at her daughter’s Preschool in 1999, she was enamored by the preschool group she was working with and became affectionately known as “Mrs. P”. Arlene is looking forward to being a part of the growing family here at Goddard.
Ms Jacalyn, Lead Teacher Ms. Jacalyn is our Kindergarten Teacher. Jacalyn graduated from the State University of New York at Cobleskill with her Associates of Science degree in Child Care and Development. Following graduation in January 2005, she moved to San Francisco, California, where she became the head teacher in a toddler room for two years. She then moved to New York to continue her education and graduated in December 2010 from SUNY Cobleskill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Childcare and Development. After graduation Jacalyn and her fiancé moved to Costa Rica for 11 months where they managed a farm and Jacalyn volunteered at the local school teaching English as a second language to children between the ages of 7-13. Jacalyn is eager and excited to work and learn from the wonderful community of children, parents and faculty at The Goddard School.
Ms Kristin, Lead Teacher Ms. Kristin is our Afterschool Director and will be working with the School Aged children providing homework assistance and managing a variety of after- school programs/clubs. Kristin earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Westfield State University in Massachusetts and is certified to teach in both New York and Massachusetts. Kristin was also a Camp Coordinator managing activities and events for school aged children. Kristin is passionate about combining all elements of education and recreation in her role at the Goddard School. Welcome Ms. Kristin!
Ms Christina, Assistant Teacher Ms. Christina is the Assistant in our Infant classroom. A Yorktown High School graduate, Christina is excited to be working at the Goddard School in the infant room. Christina graduated from Berkeley College and furthered her education at Westchester Community College where she studied Information Processing, Human Services and Early Childhood Development. Christina is a devoted mom who loves to sing, read, and volunteers her time with the Yorktown Grange. Christina is nurturing and patient, and is a wonderful additional to the infant room here at the Goddard School.
Ms Melissa, Assistant Teacher Ms. Melissa is the assistant in the First Steps room. Melissa earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from Manhattanville College. Prior to joining the Goddard School, Melissa worked at Kids U, doing party planning and assisting in classes for children ages 1-9. Melissa also worked as an assistant in the Reading Buddies program in White Plains for two years, mentoring students and assisting with homework and extra help. Melissa completed her student teaching in the Port Chester school district as a substitute. She has worked as a child care provider for families in the area for the last 10 years. We welcome Ms. Melissa to the Goddard School!
Ms Erica, Assistant Teacher Ms. Erica is the head teacher in the Young Toddler room. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Childhood Education and a concentration in Spanish and earned her New York State Initial Certification in Childhood Education (1-6) in September. Erica has begun her coursework for her Master’s Degree at Queens College to earn a Master’s of Science in TESOL. Erica spent her senior year of college working at a Day Care center in Queens with the Toddler classrooms. Erica is also a private tutor and has loved working with children for as long as she can remember, making this field her passion. Welcome Ms. Erica!
Ms Jenny, Assistant Teacher Ms.Jenny is an assistant teacher in the Teeterin' Turtles Classroom. She currently resides in Yorktown Heights and is the mother to three young girls. She demonstrates patience and commitment to the well being of the children when she is with them. Jenny studied Business at Mercy College.
Ms Megan, Assistant Teacher Ms.Megan is the assistant to the Get Set classrooms. Megan is a wonderful new addition to our Goddard Family. She recently graduated with a Bachelors Degree in English from the University at Albany. Megan is currently working towards completing a Masters Degree and earning her Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Special Education at Hunter College. Megan also worked with school aged children in the afterschool room at a child care center in Albany while attending school. She worked for a private daycare for 18 months where she spent time as an assistant in the toddler and infant rooms as well. Welcome Ms. Megan!
Ms Maria, Assistant Teacher Ms. Maria is the assistant in our Preschool classroom. Ms. Maria earned her High School Diploma in Science in Venezuela in 1987. She studied special education for kids with special needs for two years in Venezuela. Maria studied at the Stratford Career Institute (English as a second language) in 2006.
Maria received hands-on training as a teacher's assistant at Tom Thumb Preschool in Mohegan Lake. Maria volunteers her time as a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Girls Softball Coach and Assistant and has assisted the Sensei of her son's karate school.
Maria is bilingual in both Spanish and English.
Ms Stacey, Assistant Teacher Ms. Stacey is currently our Pre-K assistant. She has an associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Stacey is continuing her education to finish her bachelor's degree in education. She is eager to learn and take on new challenges as they arise. She has been working with various age groups for the last four years.
