Bill and Melanie Hyatt, Owners Melanie is originally from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and she currently lives in the Simpsonville area with her husband, Bill, and their three sons who attend middle school, high school, and college. Melanie attended The University of South Carolina where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Management and Master of Arts in Teaching Degree in Marketing Education. She later took additional graduate courses at the College Charleston, which allowed her to add a Certification in Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities on to her M.A.T Degree. Melanie has several years of experience teaching students at different ages, at different levels, and different subject matters (preschool, elementary, high school, and college levels). She also owned and operated a very successful, small business before deciding to open a Goddard School. Melanie has worked with many non-profit organizations over the years. She combines her love of giving back to others with her experience with high standards with education. Melanie and her husband, Bill, opened The Goddard School in June of 2006. Melanie works on-site at the school daily. Her role is to make sure the faculty and management team members are providing a safe and nurturing environment where the children are having fun while learning.
Bill Hyatt is originally from the Greenville area. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of South Carolina. Bill is in charge of the business operations of The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC and is on-site every day at the school. As a leader of various organizations throughout his 20-year career, Bill brings a wide range of business development and management expertise to his role. He spent many of those years opening up new markets and stores in the retail sector located along the east coast. Bill has also enjoyed working with youth leadership and recreational organizations for the past 15 years. This allows him to spend quality time with his boys as well as help others in the community. Even though he is in charge of the business operations of the school, Bill enjoys staying connected with the Goddard families and faculty. Bill and Melanie are happy that they decided to combine their lifelong dream of owning their own business with their love for education and children. They both look forward to getting to know your family and seeing your children grow here at The Goddard School.
Ms Kim, Director Ms. Kim Groves attended Western Carolina University where she received a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Psychology, with a focus in Child Psychology. Ms. Kim's previous experience includes teacher at a local preschool for five years, Director of a preschool program and Director of the Extended Day Program at Bell's Crossing Elementary in Greenville County. Ms. Kim is currently our Goddard School Director. She does a great job of maintaining an active system of parent-school communication to promote a strong relationship between the two and planning and implementing a program for teachers' professional growth. Ms. Kim joined our management team in 2007 when we expanded our facility.
Ms Kathy, Assistant Director Ms. Kathy is a native of Wisconsin. She received her degree in Medical Sciences at Spencerian College. After moving to Charlotte, NC, Ms. Kathy worked at a private school, as a kindergarten teacher assistant for 15 years. After settling in the Simpsonville area, Ms Kathy joined the Goddard School in 2006. She has enjoyed working with the children from the Infant classroom to the Jr. Kindergarten classroom. Ms. Kathy has worked in the office for the past two years, and looks forward to greeting the children as they enter the school each morning. Ms. Kathy loves to see the children as they grow and move through our school, she also loves to see all the skills they gain along the way.
Ms Tina - Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Director Ms. Tina was born and raised in England. After moving to the upstate area she earned her Associates Degree from Greenville Technical College in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Tina joined our Goddard team in 2006 and taught for several years in our Toddler classroom. She also taught many other age groups before joining our management team as the Curriculum Coordinator. Ms. Tina's passion is see the children move through the school growing and learning as they mature into Kindergarteners and join our after school program.
Ms Janelle - Infant Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Janelle grew up here in Greenville, SC and has worked with young children for over ten years. She obtained her Early Childhood Certificate from Greenville Technical College and is also working towards her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Janelle is inspired by the impact that one of her own teachers had in her life at such a young age and she hopes to do the same for children here at The Goddard School. Ms. Janelle also loves to read and sing songs with the children in the classroom.
Ms Rebecca - Infant Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Rebecca is originally from Albany, New York and moved to Greenville for the beautiful weather and hot summers. Ms. Rebecca graduated from Maria College with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with a wide variety of age groups for over 13 years, but her passion is working with Infants. Ms. Rebecca loves the children's author, Anna Dewdney, because of her descriptive illustrations that capture the attention of young children.
Ms Shawn - First Steps, Lead Teacher Ms. Shawn brought to our Goddard School team many new ideas and positive experiences from the The Goddard School in Chesterfield, Missouri. She holds her degree in Early Childhood Education from Missouri Baptist University and has been teaching children since 2001. Ms. Shawn is currently working in our First Steps classroom and the children love her gentle and calming personality. She is very organized and pays close attention to detail which is perfect for keeping the children on their schedules. She is a great asset to our team and we are happy to have her here with us at the school.
Ms Dominique - Pre-Toddler, Lead Teacher Ms. Dominique is from Columbia, SC and moved to the Greenville area in 2014. She is currently working to obtain her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and has over five years of experience with children of all ages. Ms. Dominique has a passion and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students. She also has a soft spot for the children's author Dr. Seuss as she heard those stories as a child herself.
Ms Brittni - Toddler, Lead Teacher Ms. Brittni is originally from Florida and moved to Greenville to pursue her education. Ms. Brittni is currently attending USC Upstate and working toward her degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with two year olds for over three years and loves that particular age group. Ms. Brittni is passionate about teaching the children skills and concepts that will help them for the rest of their lives. She also enjoys teaching them sign language as it was something that she learned at a young age and still finds useful today.
Ms Brittany - Get Set, Lead Teacher Ms. Brittany is from Bennettsville, SC and moved to Greenville several years ago to continue her education. She received her Associates Degree and Certificate in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College and has over three years of experience working with children under the age of five. Ms. Brittany loves being able to see the children grow and develop as she helps them acquire the skills they need to become successful. Her favorite children's author is Dr. Seuss because he really makes learning fun for children.
Ms Heather - Get Set, Lead Teacher Ms. Heather received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College and has been working with young children for over five years. She has experience working with children between the ages of two and five. Ms. Heather loves implementing hands on activities in the classroom that allow the child to really grasp what they are learning about. She is also passionate about helping children to learn in a variety of ways so they can be adaptable and successful as adults in a business environment. Ms. Heather's favorite author is Eric Carle because of how he brings the pictures to life in his stories.
Ms Aileen - Preschool One, Lead Teacher Ms. Aileen is originally from Long Island, New York. She earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Suffolk County Community College. She then attended State University of New York where she received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Ms. Aileen has been working with young children for over 15 years and joined our Goddard School team in 2007. She loves to do music and movement activities in the classroom to get the children up and moving around.
Ms Michelle - Preschool One, Lead Teacher Ms. Michelle is originally from Charlotte, NC and moved to the Greenville area to attend Bob Jones University. Ms. Michelle earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and has over 10 years of experience working with young children. Ms. Michelle spent several years teaching Pre-K and also directing an after school program. She loves spending time with the children and watching each one grow at their own pace.
Ms Ashley - Preschool Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Ashley is originally from New York and moved to South Carolina last year to be with her husband. She graduated from Daemen College with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and is still currently attending Anderson University for Art Education. Her love for teaching young children stems from her passion of hands on learning using art and sensory techniques. Previously, Ms. Ashley has taught children ages 2 and 3 years of age at a Preschool in Victor, NY. She has been teaching since 2010.
Ms Susan - Preschool Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Susan is originally from Myrtle Beach, SC. She attended Presbyterian College where she received her Bachelors Degree in Religious and Christian Education. She previously worked at The Goddard School in Franklin, Tennessee and joined our Goddard team here in 2013. Ms. Susan has been working with young children for over 6 years and is currently teaching in our Preschool classroom. She loves to watch the preschoolers grow and develop as they become more independent.
Ms Jenny - Pre-Kindergarten One, Lead Teacher Ms. Jenny is originally from Blythewood, SC. She received her Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Coaching from Newberry College. Ms. Jenny is currently coaching softball at Greer High School in addition to working with the Pre Kindergarten students at The Goddard School. Ms. Jenny previously worked at a church program for 4 years with children 4 -13 years of age. She also volunteered as a coach for different age groups. Ms. Jenny's "hidden talents" are that she has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and she is a dog trainer. Ms. Jenny loves hands-on learning and enjoys helping her students explore.
Ms Kaitlin - STEM Coordinator, Lead Teacher Ms. Kaitlin is from Florence, SC and graduated from North Greenville University with her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with children for over 6 years and has experience working with all age groups. Ms. Kaitlin is passionate about incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math into the classroom because the possibilities of children learning through STEM are endless. Her favorite children's book is "Where The Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak because it allows children to use their imagination.
Ms Kristina - Pre-Kindergarten One, Lead Teacher Ms. Kristina grew up in Norwalk, CT and moved to the area with her family several years ago. Ms. Kristina received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Spartanburg Community College and has been working with Preschoolers from over 7 years. Ms. Kristina loves to watch the children learn, she feels that each child is different and therefore learns in a unique way. Her passion is find how each child is different and use that to implement a variety of teaching styles in the classroom. Ms. Kristina loves Eric Carle books and how he uses colorful illustrations to bring his stories to life.
Ms Anna - Pre-Kindergarten Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Anna is from Woodruff, South Carolina. She attended Greenville Technical College where she received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Anna has been working with children for over 5 years and is currently teaching in our Pre-Kindergarten program. Ms. Anna loves to decorate the classroom and get creative with displaying the children's artwork. She also loves the author and illustrator Eric Carle.
Ms Shelby - Pre-Kindergarten Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Shelby was born in South Florida and moved to Greenville, SC when she was two years old. She has worked with young children for over nine years and she attended The University of South Carolina, where she received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Shelby's favorite children's book is "Oh The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss because of the way it engages the children and opens their minds to a whole new world of possibilities.
Ms Bijal - Jr. Kindergarten One, Lead Teacher Ms. Bijal is originally from Kenya, Africa. She earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from South College of Florida. Ms. Bijal has been working with young children for over 7 years and has a passion for teaching language and literacy in the classroom. Ms. Bijal's favorite children's author is Eric Carle because of how he brings his books to life through the illustrations. She is also fluent in both Gujarti and Kiswahili which brings lot of diversity and special enrichment to our school.
Ms Holly - Jr. Kindergarten One, Lead Teacher Ms. Holly grew up right here in the Greenville area and received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Bob Jones University. Ms. Holly has been working with children of all age groups for over 10 years and also has experience teaching in the public school system. She is currently teaching in our Jr. Kindergarten program and does a great job of making sure the children in our program are Kindergarten ready. She loves to see children master new skills and concepts, especially if it something they have working at for a while.
Ms Everith - Jr. Kindergarten Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Everith is originally from Jamaica. She moved to the United States in 2006 and has been working with young children ever since. Ms. Everith earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and received the President's Award from Greenville Technical College. This award was given to only one graduate who had perfect academic scores and several nominations from professors, department heads, and advisors. She has also been a part of many projects led by The Greenville County Childcare Association and is very passionate about all areas of Early Education. Ms. Everith strives to instill a love of learning in each child and to encourage them to ask questions and discover the world around them.
Ms Sara - Jr. Kindergarten Two, Lead Teacher Ms. Sara is originally from outside of Atlanta, Georgia, but has been in Greenville since 2006. She received her Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina and also attended the University of Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Ms. Sara has experience teaching in every level of preschool and elementary school and was fortunate enough to study the Reggio Emilia approach to education one summer in Italy. Ms. Sara's favorite part of teaching is sharing her love of reading and children's books with her students.
Ms Jenna - School Age Coordinator, Lead Teacher Ms. Jenna is originally from Ohio and moved to South Carolina with her family over 20 years ago. She is currently studying at Brown Mackie College and has worked with all ages of children for almost five years. Ms. Jenna loves to be active and participate in sports, she rides horses, plays softball, and plays volleyball. She brings this love for sports into our school age program and gets the children up, moving, and playing games. Ms. Jenna also engages the children in team building activities because she feels that when children learn to work with others at a young age, they carry that into their adulthood. Ms. Jenna also loves to do art and creative with the children.
Ms Misty - Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Misty is originally from Greenville, SC. She received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from USC Upstate. Ms. Misty has been working with children since 2003, she has experience working in the public school system, and has a passion for helping children become ready for Kindergarten in all areas of development. Ms. Misty joined our Goddard School team in 2007 and taught Jr. Kindergarten children for four years before moving to our Kindergarten classroom and she is currently teaching in our Kindergarten program. Ms. Misty also spent five years studying Spanish and loves to incorporate that experience into her classroom and also many others throughout the school.
Ms Adrian - Infant One, Assistant Teacher Ms. Adrian is originally from Camden, SC and has worked with young children for over five years. She graduated from Limestone College with her Bachelors Degree in Social Work. Ms. Adrian has worked with all age groups and is very calm and patient while teaching the children new concepts. She also loves Dr. Seuss books as she feels that he opens up a whole other world to children through his creativity.
Ms Anne - First Steps, Assistant Teacher Ms. Anne grew up right here in Greenville, SC where she met her husband and also raised her two children. Ms. Anne has been teaching young children for over seven years and has been a part of our Goddard team since 2008. Ms. Anne has experience working with all ages but is currently assisting in our Infant classroom. She loves to see the children grow and develop and also loves knowing that she is making a difference in each child's life. Ms. Anne loves the Click, Clack, Moo series of children's books written by Doreen Cronin because of the fun rhyming words that capture the children's attention.
Ms Janice - Infant One, Assistant Teacher Ms. Janice is originally from Ohio, she relocated to Greenville, SC to be closer to her family in 2002. She then joined our Goddard team in 2006 as one of our Infant teachers. Ms. Janice has worked in childcare for over 24 years as a Teacher, Assistant Teacher, and Director. She enjoys reading to the infants and assisting them with exciting sensory activities. She has a welcoming and nurturing personality that the babies really respond to, we are so happy to have her as part of our Goddard team.
Ms Annie - Infant Two, Assistant Teacher Ms. Annie was born in Ingolstadt, Germany. In 1997, after marrying and having two children, she moved to the United States and began working in the childcare setting. Ms. Annie obtained her Early Childhood Development certificate and joined our Goddard team in 2006 when we opened. Ms. Annie is fluent in German and does a wonderful job of helping German students and families feel welcome by translating when needed. Ms. Annie currently works with our Infants but is always willing to help translate for other classrooms too.
Ms Megan - First Steps, Assistant Teacher Ms. Megan grew up here is Woodruff, South Carolina and is currently attending Greenville Technical College. She is planning to graduate with an Associates Degree in Arts and Psychology before pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Child Psychology. Megan has been working with children for over four years and loves to watch them grow and learn in so many different ways.
Ms Lauren - Pre-Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Lauren is originally from Ohio. She attended Greenville Technical College and has experience working with young children in the school setting and as a nanny. Ms. Lauren joined our Goddard School team in 2007 and is currently teaching in the Pre-Toddler classroom. She has a passion for culinary arts and uses this at our school by helping classrooms come up with unique and creative snacks that can be turned into fun, learning experiences.
Ms Julie - Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Julie is originally from Virginia, she joined our Goddard team in 2013 when she moved to the Simpsonville area. Ms. Julie has been working with children of all ages for over 8 years and also has a son of her own who is in elementary school. She loves all of the funny things children say and her laugh is contagious. Ms. Julie has such a great positive energy that she brings into the classroom as she gets the children excited about learning. Ms. Julie is currently teaching in our Toddler classroom.
Ms Blair - Preschool One, Assistant Teacher Ms. Blair is from Simpsonville, South Carolina. She has experience teaching children of all ages and is currently teaching in our Toddler classroom. Ms. Blair joined our team at The Goddard School in 2008. She loves to watch the children as they grow and move through our school and many of our families still come back down the hallway to visit Ms. Blair.
Ms Marianne - Preschool Two, Assistant Teacher Ms. Marianne is from Salzburg, Austria, where The Sound of Music was filmed. She graduated from Landwirtschaftliche Fachschule in Austria and then moved to America 30 years ago with her husband and three children. Ms. Marianne taught at a Montessori school for ten years and has experience working with children 3-6 years of age. Ms. Marianne's favorite part of teaching is to see their joy as they learn new things and progress from dependency toward capable and self-confident children.
Ms Sandy - Preschool Two, Assistant Teacher Ms. Sandy is from Greenville, South Carolina. She has 40 years of experience working with children ranging from infants through high school aged. However, most of her experience is with the preschool age. Ms. Sandy received her Associates Degree in Science from Spartanburg Technical College. She also attended Pfeiffer University where she received a certificate in Education in Children and Youth. Ms. Sandy joined our school in 2012. Ms. Sandy continues to enjoy volunteering for the The Dogs for Autism Foundation while working at The Goddard School.
Ms Taylor - Preschool Two, Assistant Teacher Ms Taylor is from Williamston, SC and moved to the Greenville area as a child. Ms. Taylor graduated from Greenville Technical College with an Associates Degree, a Certificate, and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with young children for over three years and has had experience with all ages. Ms. Taylor is very artistic and loves to plan and implement hands on activities with the children.
Ms Anna - Literacy Coach, Assistant Teacher Ms. Anna is originally from Mississippi. She holds her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and taught Kindergarten for over 12 years. Ms. Anna has a passion for teaching language and literacy to children and she is currently assisting in our Jr. Kindergarten program. She has an endless amount of patience as she works individually with children to ensure that they have the skills they need to be successful as they enter Kindergarten.
Ms Chelsea - Pre-Kindergarten Two, Assistant Teacher Ms. Chelsea grew up right here in Greenville, South Carolina and has worked with young children for over 13 years. Ms. Chelsea is currently attending Greenville Technical College and is in the process of obtaining her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She is also planning to earn a Certificate in Special Needs Education and spent two years working with children who have Autism. Ms. Chelsea loves to find new ways to teach the children and she loves that all children learn differently.
Ms Mary - Pre-Kindergarten Two, Assistant Teacher Ms. Mary grew up in Piedmont, SC. She received a certificate in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College and has been working with children for over 10 years. Ms. Mary joined our Goddard School team in 2008 when the school expanded and has been teaching in our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms ever since. Ms. Mary has a passion for circle time. She loves to teach the children new concepts and watch them get excited about learning. Ms. Mary also enjoys sharing the book series "Pete the Cat" with the children as they teach great life lessons.
