Bill and Melanie Hyatt, Owners Melanie is originally from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and she currently lives in the Simpsonville area with her husband, Bill, and their three sons who attend high school and college. Melanie attended The University of South Carolina where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Management and Master of Arts in Teaching Degree in Marketing Education. She later took additional graduate courses at the College of Charleston, which allowed her to add a Certification in Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities on to her M.A.T Degree. Melanie has several years of experience teaching students at different ages, at different levels, and different subject matters (preschool, elementary, high school, and college levels). She also owned and operated a very successful, small business before deciding to open a Goddard School. Melanie has worked with many non-profit organizations over the years. She combines her love of giving back to others with her experience with high standards with education. Melanie and her husband, Bill, opened The Goddard School in June of 2006. Melanie works on-site at the school daily. Her role is to make sure the faculty and management team members are providing a safe and nurturing environment where the children are having fun while learning.
Bill Hyatt is originally from the Greenville area. He received his Bachelors Degree in Business Management from the University of South Carolina. Bill is in charge of the business operations of The Goddard School of Simpsonville, SC and is on-site every day at the school. As a leader of various organizations throughout his 20-year career, Bill brings a wide range of business development and management expertise to his role. He spent many of those years opening up new markets and stores in the retail sector located along the east coast. Bill has also enjoyed working with youth leadership and recreational organizations for the past 15 years. This allows him to spend quality time with his boys as well as help others in the community. Even though he is in charge of the business operations of the school, Bill enjoys staying connected with the Goddard families and faculty. Bill and Melanie are happy that they decided to combine their lifelong dream of owning their own business with their love for education and children. They both look forward to getting to know your family and seeing your children grow here at The Goddard School.
Ms Kim, Director Ms. Kim Groves attended Western Carolina University where she received a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Psychology, with a focus in Child Psychology. Ms. Kim's previous experience includes teacher at a local preschool for five years, Director of a preschool program and Director of the Extended Day Program at Bell's Crossing Elementary in Greenville County. Ms. Kim is currently our Goddard School Director. She does a great job of maintaining an active system of parent-school communication to promote a strong relationship between the two and planning and implementing a program for teachers' professional growth. Ms. Kim joined our management team in 2007 when we expanded our facility.
Ms Tina - Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Director Ms. Tina was born and raised in England. After moving to the upstate area she earned her Associates Degree from Greenville Technical College in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Tina joined our Goddard team in 2006 and taught for several years in our Toddler classroom. She also taught many other age groups before joining our management team as the Curriculum Coordinator. Ms. Tina's passion is see the children move through the school growing and learning as they mature into Kindergarteners and join our after school program.
Ms Kathy - Office Assistant, Lead Teacher Ms. Kathy is a native of Wisconsin. She received her degree in Medical Sciences at Spencerian College. After moving to Charlotte, NC, Ms. Kathy worked at a private school, as a kindergarten teacher assistant for 15 years. After settling in the Simpsonville area, Ms Kathy joined the Goddard School in 2006. She has enjoyed working with the children from the Infant classroom to the Jr. Kindergarten classroom. Ms. Kathy has worked in the office for the past four years, and looks forward to greeting the children as they enter the school each morning. Ms. Kathy loves to see the children as they grow and move through our school, she also loves to see all the skills they gain along the way.
Ms Shawn - Office Assistant , Lead Teacher Ms. Shawn brought to our Goddard School team many new ideas and positive experiences from the The Goddard School in Chesterfield, Missouri. She holds her degree in Early Childhood Education from Missouri Baptist University and has been teaching children since 2001. Ms. Shawn is currently assisting in the office. She is a great asset to our team and we are happy to have her here with us at the school.
Ms Rebecca - Infant , Lead Teacher Ms. Rebecca is originally from Albany, New York and moved to Greenville for the beautiful weather and hot summers. Ms. Rebecca graduated from Maria College with an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with a wide variety of age groups for over 13 years, but her passion is working with Infants. Ms. Rebecca loves the children's author, Anna Dewdney, because of her descriptive illustrations that capture the attention of young children.
Ms Regenia - First Steps, Lead Teacher Ms. Regenia is originally from a small town in Georgina and moved here with her family earlier this year. Ms. Regenia is currently a Doctor of Education Student as Walden University and received her Master's Degree in Human Services with a focus on Marriage and Family. Ms. Regenia also graduated from Georgia Southern University with her Bachelors Degree in Justice Studies. Ms. Regenia has worked with young children of all ages for over 13 years and is passionate about creating experiences that help children reach beyond their expected potential.
Ms Dominique - Pre-Toddler, Lead Teacher Ms. Dominique is from Columbia, SC and moved to the Greenville area in 2014. She received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and has over five years of experience with children of all ages. Ms. Dominique has a passion and commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students. She also has a soft spot for the children's author Dr. Seuss as she heard those stories as a child herself.
Ms Heather - Get Set, Lead Teacher Ms. Heather received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College and has been working with young children for over five years. She has experience working with children between the ages of two and five. Ms. Heather loves implementing hands on activities in the classroom that allow the child to really grasp what they are learning about. She is also passionate about helping children to learn in a variety of ways so they can be adaptable and successful as adults in a business environment. Ms. Heather's favorite author is Eric Carle because of how he brings the pictures to life in his stories.
Ms Aileen - Preschool, Lead Teacher Ms. Aileen is originally from Long Island, New York. She earned her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Suffolk County Community College. She then attended State University of New York where she received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Ms. Aileen has been working with young children for over 15 years and joined our Goddard School team in 2007. She loves to do music and movement activities in the classroom to get the children up and moving around.
Ms Aimee - Music and Preschool, Lead Teacher Ms. Aimee is from New York and has lived all over the country with her Husband who is in the Coast Guard. She graduated from SUNY New Paltz with her Master's Degree and Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy. Ms. Aimee has worked with children for over 14 years and previously taught at other Goddard School around the country. Ms. Aimee loves to bring fun and silly songs and games into the classroom to make learning more exciting for the children. She loves to use Laurie Berkner songs such as "Drive My Car," because they are such good conversation starters that get the children thinking.
Ms Kristina - Pre-Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Kristina grew up in Norwalk, CT and moved to the area with her family several years ago. Ms. Kristina received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Spartanburg Community College and has been working with Preschoolers from over 7 years. Ms. Kristina loves to watch the children learn, she feels that each child is different and therefore learns in a unique way. Her passion is find how each child is different and use that to implement a variety of teaching styles in the classroom. Ms. Kristina loves Eric Carle books and how he uses colorful illustrations to bring his stories to life.
Ms Anna - Pre-Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Anna is from Woodruff, South Carolina. She attended Greenville Technical College where she received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has also received numerous credentials from the State of South Carolina Center for Child Care Career Development including; The Early Childhood Credential, Director Credential (Level 2 and 3), Special Needs Credential (Level 2), and Preschool Credential (Level 2 and 3). Ms. Anna has over six years of experience in the field working with children ranging from Toddlers to School Age. Ms. Anna loves to decorate the classroom and get creative with displaying the children's artwork. She really enjoys watching the children learn and grow throughout the school year. Ms. Anna's favorite author and illustrator Eric Carle because of his vibrant "child-like" illustrations.
Ms Brittany - Pre-Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Brittany has travelled and lived all over the United States as her father was in the Army. Ms. Brittany attended Greenville Technical College where she earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has worked with young children for over 6 years and has a love for teaching Pre-Kindergarten. Ms. Brittany enjoys using books as a way to introduce children to new places, concepts, and cultures. She is also a great actress and often participates in local plays and theater.
Ms Bijal - Jr. Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Bijal is originally from Kenya, Africa. She earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from South College of Florida. Ms. Bijal has been working with young children for over 10 years and has a passion for Project Based Learning in the classroom. She loves teaching language and literacy and incorporating all the different academic categories into a project. Ms. Bijal's favorite children's author is Eric Carle because of how he brings his books to life through the illustrations. She is also fluent in both Gujarti and Kiswahili which brings lot of diversity and special enrichment to our school.
Ms Taylor - Jr. Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms Taylor is from Williamston, SC and moved to the Greenville area as a child. Ms. Taylor graduated from Greenville Technical College with an Associates Degree, a Certificate, and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with young children for over three years and has had experience with all ages. Ms. Taylor is very artistic and loves to plan and implement hands on activities with the children.
Ms Ashlee - Jr. Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Ashlee is originally from Delaware and moved here with her family several years ago. Ms. Ashlee received her Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Physical Education and Psychology from USC Upstate. Ms. Ashlee has worked with children of all ages for over six years. She loves to create an environment where children are free to be themselves, ask questions, and have fun. This provides them with opportunities to learn and grow. Ms. Ashlee loves to share Dr. Seuss books with children because they are so silly and have children laughing within minutes.
Ms Everith - Jr. Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Everith is originally from Jamaica. She moved to the United States in 2006 and has been working with young children ever since. Ms. Everith earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and received the President's Award from Greenville Technical College. This award was given to only one graduate who had perfect academic scores and several nominations from professors, department heads, and advisors. She has also been a part of many projects led by The Greenville County Childcare Association and is very passionate about all areas of Early Education. Ms. Everith strives to instill a love of learning in each child and to encourage them to ask questions and discover the world around them.
Ms Jenna - School Age Coordinator, Lead Teacher Ms. Jenna is originally from Ohio and moved to South Carolina with her family over 20 years ago. She is currently studying at Brown Mackie College and has worked with all ages of children for almost seven years. Ms. Jenna loves to be active and participate in sports, she rides horses, plays softball, and plays volleyball. She brings this love for sports into our school age program and gets the children up, moving, and playing games. Ms. Jenna also engages the children in team building activities because she feels that when children learn to work with others at a young age, they carry that into their adulthood. Ms. Jenna also loves to do art and creative with the children.
Ms Haley - Kindergarten, Lead Teacher Ms. Haley grew up right here in Greenville, SC and has always had a love for young children. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from USC Upstate and has a passion for working with four and five year olds. Ms. Haley loves to build relationships with her students and helping them feel safe, secure, and loved in way that enables them to learn. Ms. Haley enjoys the children's book "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn because of the reassurance that it provides children.
Ms Misty - First Grade, Lead Teacher Ms. Misty is originally from Greenville, SC. She received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education from USC Upstate. Ms. Misty has been working with children since 2003, she has experience working in the public school system, and has a passion for helping children become ready for Kindergarten in all areas of development. Ms. Misty joined our Goddard School team in 2007 and taught Jr. Kindergarten children for four years before moving to our Kindergarten classroom. She taught Kindergarten for three years and is currently teaching our First Grade Class. Ms. Misty also spent five years studying Spanish and loves to incorporate that experience into her classroom and also many others throughout the school.
Ms Anne - Infant, Assistant Teacher Ms. Anne grew up right here in Greenville, SC where she met her husband and also raised her two children. Ms. Anne has been teaching young children for over seven years and has been a part of our Goddard team since 2008. Ms. Anne has experience working with all ages but is currently assisting in our Infant classroom. She loves to see the children grow and develop and also loves knowing that she is making a difference in each child's life. Ms. Anne loves the Click, Clack, Moo series of children's books written by Doreen Cronin because of the fun rhyming words that capture the children's attention.
Ms Melissa - First Steps, Assistant Teacher Ms. Melissa is from Greenville, SC and graduated from Greenville Technical College with her Associates Degree in Secretarial Science. Ms. Melissa has worked with children of all ages for over 6 years and is passionate about providing a safe environment for the children in her classroom. Ms. Melissa loves each child individually and spends time helping children fall in love with learning.
Ms Annie - Infant , Assistant Teacher Ms. Annie was born in Ingolstadt, Germany. In 1997, after marrying and having two children, she moved to the United States and began working in the childcare setting. Ms. Annie obtained her Early Childhood Development certificate and joined our Goddard team in 2006 when we opened. Ms. Annie is fluent in German and does a wonderful job of helping German students and families feel welcome by translating when needed. Ms. Annie currently works with our Infants but is always willing to help translate for other classrooms too.
Ms Blair - Infant, Assistant Teacher Ms. Blair is from Simpsonville, South Carolina. She has experience teaching children of all ages and is currently teaching in our Toddler classroom. Ms. Blair joined our team at The Goddard School in 2008. She loves to watch the children as they grow and move through our school and many of our families still come back down the hallway to visit Ms. Blair.
Ms Courtney - Infant , Assistant Teacher Ms. Courtney is from Greenville, SC. She received her Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College. Ms. Courtney has been working with Infants and Toddlers for over three years and loves watching each child grow and learn. Ms. Courtney loves the children's author Dr. Seuss and the way he pulls the children into a whole new world of possibilities.
Ms Lauren - Pre-Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Lauren is originally from Ohio. She attended Greenville Technical College and has experience working with young children in the school setting and as a nanny. Ms. Lauren joined our Goddard School team in 2007 and is currently teaching in the Pre-Toddler classroom. She has a passion for culinary arts and uses this at our school by helping classrooms come up with unique and creative snacks that can be turned into fun, learning experiences.
Ms Madison - Pre-Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Madison is originally from Raleigh, NC and moved here with her family as a young child. She grew up in the Greenville area and is currently attending Greenville Technical College. Ms. Madison has worked with Infants and Toddler for over 7 years and loves to watch children grow and learn. Ms. Madison loved to read Dr. Seuss books growing up and now she enjoys sharing her love for Dr. Seuss stories with the children in her classroom.
Ms Carmen - Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Carmen is originally from New Jersey and moved to South Carolina to be closer to her family. Ms. Carmen attended Camden County College in Blackwood, NJ and has been working with Toddlers since 2001. Ms. Carmen loves to read and sing with the children and enjoys creating an interactive experience in the classroom. Ms. Carmen wants to make all children feel comfortable in her classroom and welcomes parent involvement as well.
Ms Christie - Toddler, Assistant Teacher Ms. Christie is originally from Indiana, where she worked at a Goddard School for 7 years. She moved to Greenville to help with her family and also for the warmer weather in 2015. Ms. Christie earned her Child Development Associate Credential at Ivy Tech and has worked with young children for over 20 years. Ms. Christie loves seeing each child reach milestones in their own time and celebrating each accomplishment with their families.
Ms Amanda - Preschool, Assistant Teacher Ms. Amanda was born in Fargo, North Dakota and moved to Greenville with her family as a small child. Ms. Amanda attends USC Upstate where is currently working to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Amanda has been working with young children for over five years and loves to see them grow and learn in the classroom.
Ms Marianne - Get Set, Assistant Teacher Ms. Marianne is from Salzburg, Austria, where The Sound of Music was filmed. She graduated from Landwirtschaftliche Fachschule in Austria and then moved to America 30 years ago with her husband and three children. Ms. Marianne taught at a Montessori school for ten years and has experience working with children 3-6 years of age. Ms. Marianne's favorite part of teaching is to see their joy as they learn new things and progress from dependency toward capable and self-confident children.
Ms Sandy - Spanish, Assistant Teacher Ms. Sandy is originally from Mexico and moved here with her family 8 years ago. Ms. Sandy received her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and Physical Education and has been working with children of all ages for over 8 years. Ms. Sandy speaks fluent Spanish and is passionate about incorporating Spanish into her teaching in the classroom.
Ms Lindsay - Preschool, Assistant Teacher Ms. Lindsay was born in Germany and has lived in many different places as her family travelled around with the Air Force. She attended school in Ashburn, Virginia and moved to Greenville in 2004 to settle down with a family of her own. Ms. Lindsay has been working with children of a variety of ages for over 9 years and loves to read Dr. Seuss books in the classroom. Ms. Lindsay learned sign language as a child and loves to use it with the children in her classroom. She also loves having conversations with the children and helping them to discover their imagination.
Ms Julie - Preschool, Assistant Teacher Ms. Julie is originally from Virginia, she joined our Goddard team in 2013 when she moved to the Simpsonville area. Ms. Julie has been working with children of all ages for over 8 years and also has a son of her own who is in elementary school. She loves all of the funny things children say and her laugh is contagious. Ms. Julie has such a great positive energy that she brings into the classroom as she gets the children excited about learning.
Ms Kristi - Pre-Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher Ms. Kristi is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to Greenville with her family earlier this year. Ms. Kristi trained and worked in the Ohio school system for over 10 years. She worked primarily with children with special needs and assisted them in following their IEP's. Ms. Kristi has worked with children of all ages and loves seeing children use their imagination and creativity to make new discoveries in the classroom. Ms. Kristi loves the author Margaret Wise Brown and also enjoys using sign language in the classroom.
Ms Mary - Pre-Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher Ms. Mary grew up in Piedmont, SC. She received a certificate in Early Childhood Education from Greenville Technical College and has been working with children for over 12 years. Ms. Mary joined our Goddard School team in 2008 when the school expanded and has been teaching in our Preschool and Pre-K classrooms ever since. Ms. Mary has a passion for circle time, music, and small group learning. She loves to teach the children new concepts and watch them get excited about learning. Ms. Mary also enjoys sharing the book series "Pete the Cat" with the children as they teach great life lessons.
Ms Sue - Pre-Kindergarten, Assistant Teacher Ms. Sue is originally from Albany, NY and moved to sunny South Carolina to enjoy the beautiful, warm weather. She graduated from Potsdam State University in New York with a Bachelors Degree in Spanish and Secondary Education. Ms. Sue has been working with young children for over 25 years, but has the most experience with three and four year olds. Ms. Sue is very passionate about interacting with children and providing them with an organized learning environment. She loves Dr. Seuss and how his songs and rhyming engage the children.
Mr Blake - School Age, Assistant Teacher Mr. Blake grew up in Greenville, SC and attended both North Greenville University and Limestone College. Mr. Blake has been working with children for almost ten years and has experience working with children in elementary and middle school. Mr. Blake is very athletic and keeps the school age children engaged with physical fitness activities and sports. He is also very passionate about helping children find their confidence by discovering their individual abilities and strengths.
Ms Jessi - School Age, Assistant Teacher Ms. Jessi is originally from Easley, SC and moved to Simpsonville to attend school. She attended Golden Strip Career Center where she received her Early Childhood certification. Ms. Jessi has been working with two and three year olds for the last 2 years. Ms. Jessi realizes that each child is different and unique. She loves finding out what each child is truly passionate about and encouraging them to go for their dreams.
Ms Lesa - School Age, Assistant Teacher Ms. Lesa is originally from Waynesville, NC and moved here with her family after graduating from The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with her Bachelor's Degree in Intermediate Education. Ms. Lesa has worked with children of all ages for over 19 years and loves to see the world through their eyes. Ms. Lesa is passionate about getting to know each child and helping them grow and develop at their own pace. Ms. Lesa enjoys playing the piano and also previously taught piano lessons for children.
Ms Taylor - School Age, Assistant Teacher Ms. Taylor is originally from Hershey, PA and moved to Greenville with her family when she was six years old. She is currently studying Early Childhood Education at Greenville Technical College and plans to transfer to USC Upstate in the Spring. Ms. Taylor has been working with children of many ages for over two years but really enjoys working with the first grade class. Ms. Taylor loves watching the children grow and learn as they discover new things and she is always willing to help them with projects and their homework.
