      • Description: The Toddler class is getting ready for the 4th of July as they work on a creative art project using red, white, and blue tissue paper and lots of glue.

      • Description: The Pre-K class is using different color and size stars to create their own patterns.  The children will be challenged to design some intricate patterns and then see if their friends can continue the pattern.

      • Description: The Kindergarteners did a parade around the building and sang patriotic songs for the younger friends to hear.

      • Description: This summer's theme is Leap into Literature. This week we will focus on stories written by Eric Carle.

      • The Mixed Up Chameleon
      • Event: The Mixed Up Chameleon
      • Location: Preschool

      • Description: The Preschool class read The Mixed Up Chameleon by Eric Carle.  The teachers set up the sensory table with environments with different scents, colors, and textures then added a variety of colored chameleons for the children to explore with.

      • Description: The Pre-K class read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.  The friends had to draw a number then use their one to one correspondence to string that number of fruit loops onto pipe cleaners.  The children had to practice counting objects as well as use their fine motor skills to do this activity.

      • Description: The Young Toddler class read The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle.  Then the children had to match the animal on the farm to the sounds that the teacher made.

      • Description: The Toddler class read Little Cloud by Eric Carle.  Then the children were able to create their own cloud inspired art by using paint mixed with cool whip.  The mixture made a great fluffy texture for the children to explore with.

      • Description: The Kindergarten class read The Grouchy Lady Bug by Eric Carle.  Then in the math center the friends worked on matching the digital time to the clocks.  They also had the opportunity to use the manipulative clocks to put the time on themselves as well.

      • Description: The Toddler friends were able to match the animals halves from Brown Bear Brown Bear What do You Hear by Bill Martin Jr.

      • Description: After reading the story, Barn Dance by Bill Martin Jr.  The Pre-K class had their own barnyard square dance.  The children learned several easy steps and tried to follow along to the directive music.

      • Description: The Kindergarten class read Chicken Chuck by Bill Martin Jr. and the friends worked on matching numbers to sets as they matched the correct number of blue feathers to the number on the chickens.

      • Description: The Preschoolers read the story Listen to the Rain by Bill Martin Jr.  Then the children were challenged to use their five senses to create a picture in their heads as the teacher read small sections of the story.

      • Description: After reading, How Do Dinosaurs Play All Day By Jane Yolen and Mark Teague, the Preschool class had the opportunity to play with plastic Dinosaurs.  The teachers took the opportunity to ask the children questions such as which dinosaurs have spikes or long necks.

      • Description: The Toddler class will dance to "We are the Dinosaurs" by the Laurie Berkner Band after reading How Do Dinosaurs Play with Their Friends by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.  The children will have the opportunity to pretend to stomp around like dinosaurs during this fun song.

      • Description: The Preschool read How Do Dinosaurs Laugh Out Loud by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.  Then the class is going to make dinosaur impressions.  The children will be able to take dinosaurs and press them into Plaster of Paris to make their own "fossils."

      • Description: The Pre-K class will read How Do Dinosaurs Count to Ten by Jane Yolen and Mark Teague.  Then they will have the opportunity to dig for dinosaurs.  The children can use toothbrushes and paint brushes to discover the hidden dinosaur inside the rock.  How many dinosaurs can you find?

      • Description: It is Dr. Seuss week for Leap into Literature. The Preschool class will read Dr. Seuss The Foot Book.  Then they can take off their shoes and paint with their feet.

      • Description: The Preschool class read One Fish Two Fish Read Fish Blue Fish by Dr. Seuss.  Then, in the math center they practiced graphing skills as they filled in a bar graph using a handful of colored goldfish.

      • Description: The Pre-K class will read Yertle the Turtle by Dr. Seuss.  Then, classroom friends will have the opportunity to use the turtle blocks to see how high they can stack them.  They will work on their one to one as they count how many turtles high their towers are.
