Bob Norman - Onsite Owner - I am very excited about the opportunity to serve the community through the opening of the latest Goddard School in Yorktown. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University. After 15 years of working for several Fortune 1,000 companies, I have decided to combine a life long dream of owning my own business with my love of children. Both of my children attended The Goddard School and I was thrilled with the entire experience. I thank you for being a part of our school. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
Susan English - Education Director - I am thrilled to be a part of The Goddard School located in Yorktown. My experiences include nine years of teaching ages two through seven, along with holding several administrative positions at the university level. I have a Bachelor's degree in Arts/Social Sciences with a Concentration in Education and a Master's degree in Arts/Teaching and Learning with Technology. I appreciate the unique and individual personalities and learning styles of children and care deeply about the happiness that they should experience in their educational environment. I truly believe that Goddard offers an exceptional level of quality, fun and learning that parents should expect from their child's school. I am excited about meeting and working with each and every new member of our Goddard family (both children and parents) here in Yorktown.
Ms. Savanna - Lead Teacher - Infant Room - Ms. Savanna holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College and has started her Master's degree program in Counseling. She has over 10 years of experience working with children.
Ms. Sue - Lead Teacher - First Steps Ms. Sue graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. She also received an Associate’s degree in Electronic Technology. Ms. Sue was a lead teacher for four years before relocating to subsequently teach other center directors on new computer system technology. She then taught three- and four-year-old children for another two years.
Ms. Melissa - Lead Teacher - Young Toddlers Ms. Melissa graduated in 2008 with honors from Rowan University, majoring in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Mathematics. She also has her New Jersey Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing, along with her Virginia Teacher Certificate and an endorsement in Special Education. She was also a preschool teacher for two years along with being a preschool teacher for a summer school program.
Ms. Georgie - Lead Teacher - Get Set - Ms. Georgie graduated from Longwood University with a degree in Education. Since her graduation, she has worked with various age groups as both a Pre-K teacher and a teacher's assistant.
Ms. Mallory - Lead Teacher - Preschool - Ms. Mallory graduated from Old Dominion University with a degree in Psychology and also has a certificate in Early Childhood Development from RCC. She has previously worked as an infant teacher, an assistant preschool teacher and as a nanny. Prior to her promotion to lead teacher, Ms. Mallory worked as assistant teacher to our Pre-K room here at The Goddard School located in Yorktown, Virginia.
Ms. Brie - Lead Teacher - Pre-K - Ms. Brie received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education along with her Master’s degree in Education. She has previously taught kindergarten for six years in the Hampton Roads public school system.
Ms. Kristi - Lead Teacher - Toddler - Ms. Kristi received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and has seven years of experience teaching children, as well as eight years of experience as a live-in nanny.
Ms. Jan – Assistant Teacher - Jan received her Bachelor’s degree in English from the college of William & Mary. She was a substitute teacher for Newport News schools (elementary level) and taught preschool (toddlers) at the United Jewish Community Early Childhood Center.
Ms. Beth - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Beth received her Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education from Pennsylvania’s Manfield University. She has eight years of experience assisting with two-and-a-half-year-old through five-year-old children.
Ms. Crystal - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Crystal received her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Northern Illinois University in 2006. She has worked with children for ten years, including previous experience at The Goddard School in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.
Ms. Laura - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Laura received her Bachelor's degree in Music and is currently pursuing her Master's degree in Music Education. She has three years of experience working at The Goddard School located in northern Virginia.
Ms. Tiffany - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Tiffany is currently working on her degree in Early Childhood Education. She has several years of experience working in the field of childcare.
Ms. Cherry - Assistant Teacher Ms. Cherry is currently attending college as a Nursing major. She had previously been an Early Childhood Education major and hopes to utilize that knowledge along with her Nursing degree and her love of children to work at a children's hospital.
Ms. Pamela - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Pamela has worked as an assistant teacher for twelve years for the public school system before joining us here at The Goddard School. She has her degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Educational Paraprofessional.
Ms. Nora - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Nora began her career in Early Childhood Education as an assistant teacher in a two-year-old classroom. She received her Associate's degree in Social Sciences in 2004 along with her Bachelor's of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies - Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education in 2009.
Ms. Alana - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Alana has her Bachelor's degree in Sciences, Communication Sciences, and Disorders with a minor in Special Education. She is a member of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and has previous experience working with speech pathology, language skills, and phonemic awareness.
Ms. Lynn - Assistant Teacher Ms. Lynn has over eight years of experience working with children, including with the State of Georgia's Pre-K program. She attended Southern Crescent University in Griffin, Georgia and received a Certification as a Nursing Assistant and in Medical Billing and Coding.
Ms. Sandy - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Sandy has eight years of experience working with children along with continuing to pursue her degree in Early Childhood Development. In 2006, she was honored with the creation of the "Sandra Chong Award," an annual award that is given each year to a parent who strives for excellence in Newport News Public Schools' PTAs.
Ms. Kady - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Kady has earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Disorders with a minor in Special Education. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Communications Disorders at Hampton University. Ms. Kady has worked in the public school system for three years.
Ms. Emily - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Emily recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Visual Culture Education with a teaching option. She also taught dance to students starting at age 3 and enjoys incorporating dance and creative movement into her visual arts curriculum.
