The Cat In The Hat
Our teacher is going to read this great book to us in class today. After we hear the story and look at the pictures, we are going to try to draw our own book character and describe him or her to the class. We are also going to learn a Dr. Seuss song called "The No Laugh Race." When we go outside today, we are going to have relay races. I can't wait!

Counting for Dr. Seuss
Today, we are going to read the Dr. Seuss book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and practice our counting skills. Some of us are going to work on our colors and some of us will work on number recognition and counting as high as we can! We are also going to try a special kind of art called "gyotaku"using paint and a fish! It is Japanese and means "fish rubbing."

Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!
We are going to hear this terrific book which will tell us all about our great imaginations! We will then try to draw what we are thinking! We will show our pictures to each other and see if our friends will be able to guess what we drew. Some of us will use Legos and building blocks to build what we are thinking! Can you guess what I am going to build?

If I Ran The Zoo
Our teacher is going to read us this great Dr. Seuss book called If I Ran The Zoo. There are so many fun and cool animals in this book. Afterwards, we are going to see what kinds of new animals we can create with our imaginations and paint! We will talk about what our new animals sound like, what they eat, and what they like to do in the wild. It is all up to us and our imaginations!

Eric Carle Week
We all love Eric Carle! We are going to start our special week by reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Afterwards, we will talk about caterpillars and how they turn into butterflies. We will also talk about the kinds of foods the hungry caterpillar ate and which ones we like the best. Our teacher will make a chart to see which food wins as the favorite food of the class.

Pancakes, Pancakes!
We enjoyed a really fun book called Pancakes, Pancakes! by Eric Carle. A boy named Jack wanted some pancakes and had to collect all of the ingredients to make some. We learned where he got eggs, milk, and flour and what he did with those items to make a plate full of yummy pancakes. Then, we practiced using measuring spoons and cups to measure flour, just like Jack!

Music today!

Music today!
Today, we got to see a very special song by Eric Carle entitled "I See A Song" on the computer. The song had a violin and the many colorful images moved to the music. It was like "seeing" a song. Then, we learned about some of the instruments in an orchestra. It was a lot of fun to compare the sounds.

Do You Want To Be My Friend?
We are going to listen to a great Eric Carle book entitled Do You Want To Be My Friend? We will talk all about friendship and how to be a good friend. We will talk about things like sharing, inviting a new friend to play, and how to use nice hands and nice words. Then, we will learn how to work as a team by creating a beautiful friendship mural together!

Today's featured Eric Carle book is The Very Quiet Cricket, which is the story of a young cricket who wants to make a chirping sound by rubbing his wings together. Will he get his wish? We will then talk about our favorite Eric Carle book from this special week and learn some sign language for some of the important words that were used in these books.

Favorite Fairy Tales
We are going to have a lot of fun choosing our favorite fairy tales so that we can pretend in our role-playing center. We will also have puppet shows for some of our stories. Some of us will read words from the books and some of us will describe the story from the pictures in the books.We will also learn some cool Spanish words today and practice our counting and numbers.

Tales From Other Countries
Today is going to be really neat! We are going to hear some unusual fairy tales from other countries. Our class will then discuss some of the differences that we noticed in these stories and in the popular ones that we listened to yesterday. We will then draw our favorite fairy tale character. Today, we will also be continuing to work in our outside garden. I love to work in the dirt!

We are going to learn some nursery rhymes and silly poems. Then, we are going to take turns adding a some words to make our own rhyme as try our best to make our own silly nursery rhyme! We are going to also use our B.A.S.E. and Trampoline outside programs to take part in some really fun outdoor games. The weather is so warm and sunny and we will enjoy having a picnic lunch outside today!

Today, we are going to listen to our favorite songs and dance to them. Some of them are silly songs and we will be able to play our instruments to them. Music is so much fun! We are also going to learn two new Yoga poses and will practice the other poses that we have learned this year. We will also talk about the seasons and how spring will soon turn into summer!

Today, we are going to dress up like our favorite fairy tale or nursery rhyme character! We might even get to parade around the school and get our pictures taken. Then, we will work on our letter sounds and will talk about the days of the week. We will get to play with the parachute outside in the beautiful warm weather!

This week, our teacher will be choosing books by her own favorite author. We will learn about the author and will talk about the stories that she will be reading to us. We will also be working outside in our garden and will draw pictures of the plants (vegetables and flowers) that we are growing. We will learn some of the names of our plants and vegetables in sign language and in Spanish.

Today, we are going to have a picnic outside. It will be so much fun to sit on the ground and eat with our friends. We will be careful to throw away our trash and to put our things away neatly. We will also try to identify any insects or animals that we see while we are outside.

Today is going to be awesome! We are going to work with all kinds of art supplies outside. We will hang large sheets of paper on our fence and use water colors to paint a wonderful work of art. We will also use colored chalk to draw on the sidewalk. We love to have our lessons outside!

Today, we are going to make our own books. We will think about all of the great authors and books that we have read this month, and we will decorate our pages with art, letters, numbers, or words. We will put them together so that we can turn the pages just like we do when we are looking at our class books.

Library Week
We are going to "build" a library in our classroom so that we can pretend that we are visiting and checking out books. We will make our own library cards, and we will have books that we can check out along with reading areas just like they have at the real library. Our teacher tells us that they also have DVDs and CDs that can be borrowed. The library is a wonderful place!

Now that we have built our pretend library, our teacher is going to show us how to act at the library. We will need to be quiet and should always put books back where we found them. If we need help finding a book, we can ask at the Information Counter. When we decide what we want, we will take our books to the Checkout Counter and hand the librarian our library card.

Sports Day
We will enjoy the wonderful weather by having a lot of outside fun today. We will have an obstacle course and relay races. We will also play with hula hoops and play some basketball and soccer. It is so much fun to learn how to play with a team. We are learning how to be good sports.

Practicing our ABCs
We have worked on our phonetic letter sounds and on learning how to sound out words. Today, we will practice our writing skills by writing our names or other words that we have learned in the classroom. We will also practice our sign language, Spanish, and Yoga skills. Some of us will continue to practice color recognition and how to count. There is so much to learn!
