We're gearing up for our Summer Program and another super season full of summer fun activities! Our theme this year is "Time Travel!" We will look into everything from Prehistoric Times to Ancient Times, Medieval Times, Colonial Times and even check out whats going on Today! We have so many fun visitors planned and even field trips for our older 'campers.' Water Days will still be a big part of our fun, so plan on getting wet when we turn on the sprinklers, fill up the sensory tables and toss in the water toys in the mix! As important as the learning component is to parents, an equally important factor is the opportunity for children to socialize and build memories that will last a lifetime through summertime fun games and activities. Every aspect of the Summer Program at The Goddard School® takes these corresponding needs into account. For more details and a complete copy of our Summer Program Calendar, please contact us.
The Goddard School® located in Westlake has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children! What is accreditation? 'Early childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC Academy for Early Childhood Program Accreditation have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process of internal self-study, invited external professionals to review and verify compliance with the Criteria for High Quality Early Childhood Programs and been found to be in substantial compliance with the Criteria. The Criteria can be found on NAEYC's Web site at www.naeyc.org/accreditation.'
Time to Sign will continue, which introduces children to American Sign Language.
We are also including B.A.S.E. for Fitness to our regular School schedule. B.A.S.E. focuses on Balance, Agility, Strength and Endurance. It's a wonderful program designed to expose children to the skills necessary to support their active lives.
The Goddard Guide to Getting Along is also an important part of our curriculum. This will teach the "Importance of Courtesy and Respect."
Apple Blossom Curriculum by Yoga School is another curriculum resource included in our program. This program is for teachers, utilizing yoga to enhance cross-curricular learning for children ages Infant through Pre-Kindergarten. It's a fun time!
We have a special music program which will include all the children! Miss Tracy from the 'Beck Center for the Arts' pays us a visit each Thursday morning and brings her guitar and other fun instruments. The children help Miss Tracy play each instrument as they sing and dance to the beat! Spanish will also be included in the daily curriculum with a special visit from Senora Maru once a week!
