Teacher will read Goodnight, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann. To reinforce our recall abilities, children will then create their own Goodnight Gorilla picture by using black crayons and craft sticks. Each child will present to the class and talk about their own gorilla.

Measuring Time
Teacher will introduce tools for measuring short periods of time. Teacher will then discuss how we can measure time at home (microwave, clock, kitchen time, stop watch, etc.). Teacher will demonstrate how long a second is and show on clock. Children will move across the room as teacher times with a stop watch. Children will then sit in a circle playing pass the beanbag. How long does it take?

Teacher will read "Zoo Books Ducks, Geese, & Swans". We will discuss as a class waterfowl birds. Children will observe a picture of an incomplete habitat. Children will then add missing parts to the habitat so that waterfowl could live in that environment.

As we work on our gross motor skills and develop hand-eye coordination we will play a fun game. Let's have a bucket toss on our carpet. Each friend will have a chance to toss a bean-bag into the bucket!

Children will conduct "Water and Wind" experiment to see if wind has an effect on drying a wet area. Teacher will discuss how wind is moving air. Children will create wind by moving hands back and forth quickly. Teacher will put spots of water on chalkboard. One spot will have wind blown on it the other will not. Children will predict which one will dry faster or the same. Conclusion?

Today the teacher will discuss rainforests. The different areas where rainforests exist will be shown on the globe. Why do the students think they are called "RAINforests"? The teacher will also discuss with the children the importance of saving these forests and what we can do to help.
