    Employee of the Month:  Mrs. Jenn K.

    Mrs. Jennifer has been involved with children for more than 20 years starting early on with babysitting for neighborhood families. After graduating from South Kingstown High School, Jennifer attended CCRI for Early Education for one year. Since then, she has worked in a few childcare centers and even had her own Home Childcare when her children were little. To further Jennifer's education, she completed her Child Development Associate (CDA) for infants/toddlers. Mrs. Jennifer is excited to be apart of the Goddard family and can't wait to get to know all of you!


    Clay & Gina Johnson - Owners -
    Owners of The Goddard School®, Gina and Clay grew up in South Kingstown and attended the local schools. After graduating from URI, Clay spent 15 years in various locations fulfilling project management roles. In 1998, the couple returned to Rhode Island to start a family; they are the proud parents of two children ages 8 & 6 years. The Johnson family began work on The Goddard School® in March of 2004 with the intent of sinking deeper roots into the community which they love and providing a new option in early childhood development.

    Angella H. - Director -
    Angella “Angie” H. is the Director at The Goddard School®. Angie provides overall direction for the educational efforts of the school, including lesson planning, training, and transitioning of the children. Angie brings over 16 years of early childhood development experience with her including four years as Director of Early Childhood and Youth Development at The Genesis Center and Program Manager of The Children's Network Program for Meeting Street School in Providence. Angie made the move to Saunderstown, Rhode Island, with her three sons after several years as a DCF Child Protections Counselor in St. Petersburg, Florida. Angie also worked as a Head Start Teacher and early childhood educator in Tampa.

    Lauren - Assistant Director -
    Ms. Lauren is the Assistant Director and graduated from the University of Rhode Island in May, 2007. She received a BS in Human Development and Family Studies and a minor in Business. Lauren has been working with children of all ages since she was 12 years old. Lauren is excited to join The Goddard School® and ready to put her knowledge to work!!

    Ms. Nicole C. - Starfish Room (Young Infants) -
    Ms. Nicole attended the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies. She loves children and has been working in childcare for the past seven years. She is very excited to be a full time teacher at The Goddard School®!

    Mrs. Jennifer K. - Starfish Room (Young Infants) -

    Ms. Kerri H. - Seahorse Room (Older Infants) -
    Kerri is a graduate of RIC and has been in the childcare profession for over 15 years! Her experience includes working in a group home setting, teaching art to children on IEPs and teaching in a Preschool environment. She absolutely loves Art and thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge with children of all ages.

    Mrs. Lorrie - Sea Turtle Room (Young Toddlers) -
    Mrs. Lorrie graduated from Fisher College in 1996 with her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education. She also has her CNA License and is currently enrolled in the Nursing program at CCRI where she is studying to become an LPN. Mrs. Lorrie has been teaching for 20 years and looks forward to continuing here at The Goddard School!

    Ms. Amanda - Sea Turtle Room (Young Toddlers) -
    Ms. Amanda graduated from Quinnipiac University in May, 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Health Science Studies and Psychology. She loves working with and helping children! They always bring a smile to her face!

    Ms. Ashley - Sea Turtle Room (Young Toddlers) - Ms. Ashley graduated from South Kingstown High School in 2000 and then attended Rhode Island College, where she began studying Early Childhood Education. She has been surrounded by children her whole life! Ms. Ashley has worked in a school/center-based setting, as well as an after-school counselor for the YMCA. More recently, Ashley has been busy taking care of her 18-month old twins!

    Ms. Liz - Sea Otter Room (Older Toddlers) -
    Liz is a graduate from the University of Rhode Island. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and a minor in Psychology. Ms. Liz initially wanted to work with adults, until an internship here at The Goddard School® rekindled her interest in working with children. Her favorite part of her job is seeing the smiles on the children's faces.

    Ms. Jennifer D. - Sea Otter Room (Older Toddlers) -
    Ever since Ms. Jennifer's first camp counselor job, she has wanted to work with children. Ms. Jennifer has enjoyed the chance to watch the changes that occur during a child's development! Seeing them learn and grow and being a part of that enhances her life experience. Ms. Jennifer looks forward to the opportunities she will receive while being a part of The Goddard School®!

    Ms. Lindsey - Jellyfish Room (Get Set) - I attended Narragansett High School where I was involved in sports and student council. I graduated from Bridgewater State College with a degree in Early Childhood Education. At BSC I worked in the Children's Physical Development clinic with special needs children. Last school year I worked at a private preschool in Tallahassee, FL, and am excited to be back in South County teaching close to home!

    Mrs. Linda - Jellyfish Room (Get Set) -
    Mrs. Linda holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from Worcester State College. She has enjoyed teaching in the preschool setting for several years. Mrs. Linda is excited about teaching in the Jellyfish classroom!!

    Mrs. Jennifer B. - School of Fish Room (Preschool) -
    Before joining The Goddard School® team, Jennifer was a Lead Teacher in a private preschool in Warwick for over four years. Jennifer is finishing up her degree in Early Childhood Education from the Community College of Rhode Island and plans to transfer to the University of Rhode Island in the fall to further her education. Jennifer is very excited to be a part of The Goddard School® located in South Kingstown and looks forward to many more years of working with young children!

    Ms. Cindy - School of Fish Room (Preschool) - Ms. Cindy graduated from the University of Rhode Island, where she received a bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders. Upon graduation, Cindy worked as a lead preschool teacher in Westerly, R.I. Last year she was also a part time dance teacher at Kathleen Messina's Danceworks. Ms. Cindy is currently attending Lesley University to receive her Masters in Education. Ms. Cindy is very excited to have joined The Goddard School® family and looks forward to the great experiences with the children that she will receive!

    Ms. Patti - Puffer Fish Room (Jr. Pre-Kindergarten) -
    Ms. Patti graduated from Rhode Island College. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature; her concentration is in Education and Philosophy. Ms. Patti has been a Preschool Teacher for over ten years and loves it! She looks forward to working at The Goddard School® for many years. It is a beautiful and modern facility and she considers herself lucky for the opportunity to grow with the School!

    Ms. Kim - Puffer Fish Room (Jr. Pre-Kindergarten) -
    Ms. Kim is a student at Rhode Island College studying Elementary Education. She looks forward to working at The Goddard School® and with the children who are enrolled here!

    Mrs. Andra - Whale Room (Pre-Kindergarten) -
    Mrs. Andra is very excited to join The Goddard School® staff and to be able to work with your children! In December 2007, she graduated from URI with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. For the past five years, Andra has been working as Substitute Teacher and Substitute Teacher's Assistant in various elementary schools. Mrs. Andra is looking forward to her new position working with your children here at The Goddard School®!

    Ms. Emily R. - Whale Room (Pre-Kindergarten) -
    Emily graduated in December of 2009 from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies. During college, she volunteered with young children through the Jumpstart literacy program. In addition, Ms. Emily worked as a Student Assistant at the URI Child Development Center. She also completed her student teaching at West Kingston Elementary School. Ms. Emily looks forward to learning and growing as a teacher with the young children at The Goddard School located in South Kingstown!

    Mrs. Laura - Dolphin Room (Pre-Kindergarten Coordinator) -
    Ms. Laura is a Teacher in the Pre-K classroom. Laura has worked with children for many years prior to college and graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. Prior to working at Goddard, Ms. Laura was the Kindergarten Teacher at a local child development center for four years and the Preschool Teacher for two years. The program focused on literacy enrichment and learning through play.

    Ms. Emily A. - Floater - Emily currently attends the University of Rhode Island, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies: Early Childhood. She also plans on going to grad school for Special Education. Ms. Emily has worked with children all of her life. She babysat two young girls from the ages of four- and six-years-old, and they are now in junior high and high school! Ms. Emily loves spending time with kids and watching them grow and learn new things each and every day. She is excited to join the faculty of The Goddard School located in South Kingstown and make use of the knowledge she has learned thus far!

    Ms. Kate - Floater -
    Ms. Kate graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 with two majors, one in Early Childhood Education and the other in Business Administration. She worked as a Lead Teacher in a few of the local preschools before opening her own licensed home daycare so she could be home with her three children, when they were young. Ms. Kate has lived in Florida for the past five years where she began a church-based preschool program and was honored to receive a National Teacher of Excellence award. Ms. Kate has worked as a Substitute Teacher and as a Kindergarten Teacher in the Sarasota County schools. She has also worked at The Goddard School® located in Lakewood Ranch, Florida in the Pre-Toddler room before moving back to Rhode Island this winter. Ms. Kate is happy to have the opportunity to work with your children!!

    Ms. Katie - Floater - I am currently a junior at the University of Rhode Island. I hope to graduate with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor is Sociology. I grew up in South Kingstown, RI, and have lived here my whole life. I have been working with children since I was 14 and enjoy it very much. I have done everything from babysitting, coaching basketball, teaching CCD and being a camp counselor. I am excited to work at The Goddard School® and look forward to learning and enhancing my career!

    Ms. Alyssa - Floater - I am a senior at URI, and I will be graduating in December of 2009 with a degree in Communications. I had the pleasure of interning at The Goddard School® from January to May of 2009. I am so happy to be back with all of the children!

    Ms. Kelsey - Floater - I have lived in RI all my life; I graduated from Narragansett High School in 2007. During my senior year of high school, I had the opportunity to work at a local preschool. This experience sparked an interest in Early Childhood Education. I am currently taking classes in Early Childhood Education at CCRI. I am looking forward to graduating later this year with my degree and hoping that my dreams of becoming a teacher will come true. I am very excited to work here at The Goddard School® to gain more experience and to put my knowledge to good use!
