Today we will be visited by Ms. Uma and Ms. Tabitha, who are originally from Kenya.
They will share their pictures of animals indigenous to the African plains.
They will also share music from their country.

Using the Promethean Board we will investigate the great cats of the African plains. 
We will look at the differences in male and female roles in the pride and differences in speed and coloring.
We will use the Promethean Board to sort and categorize the cats and will also compare them to our domestic kitties.

Let's investigate the usefulness of elephants. We will read the book Elephants, a Book for Children by David Henry Wilson and Steve Bloom. We will see how elephants can help people and will talk about how people can help elephants. We will add gray paper and mud to our collage materials.

Using the Promethean Board, we will explore horned animals of the African plains. We will learn what the horns are made of  and what they are used for, and we will create our own horns with paper mache.

Using the Promethean Board we will investigate the living Great Barrier Reef and its inhabitants. We will then examine a sea sponge and a piece of coral. We will use our vocabulary to describe both and will graph their similarities and differences.

We will have special visitors today. Our accreditation team from AdvancEd (SACS) will be here to observe our School and review our self-study materials. They will interview our teachers, parent and students as well.

Today we will read an excerpt from The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, in which Pinocchio is caught in the belly of a whale. Then we will investigate to find out how large a whale's belly is. We will work as team (using our skills as collaborators)  to create our rendition of a mural of the class in a belly of a whale.

Using our Promethean Board we will learn about the art of dressage, that is, dancing horses. We will check out information about the Royal Lippizzaner Stallions. We will add horses to our dramatic play areas.

Using our Promethean Board we will learn about the Royal White Tigers. We will investigate how their beautiful coloring is a hindrance to their safety in the wild. We will reinforce our earlier understanding of how camouflage works. We will compare white tigers to other black and white animals and will tally how many we can find.
