Faculty Bios

Portland, OR

Executive Director: Lisa, Director of the Year, 2006 - I am a native Texan. I acquired my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Southwest Texas State University. I am certified in the State of Texas to teach Pre-Kindergarten to Sixth Grade. I moved to Oregon in 1995. When my daughter was born, I stayed home with her until she was four, and then worked as Cindy Smith's (owner) Assistant Director at another school (I like to think that I had a yearlong interview with Cindy). Now I am at The Goddard School® and loving every day with our teachers, parents, and children.

Director: Amanda - I moved from California to Oregon in 1992, and I absolutely love it here! I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Portland. I am also certified in the state of Oregon to teach Preschool through Eighth Grade. I have been teaching preschool since 1995. Before I was promoted to Director, I was the Lead Teacher in our Get Set program. I love working with children; they always have a way of brightening my day.

Ms. Newhart - Miss Newhart is our assistant director, as well as an assistant teacher. You will find Miss Newhart helping in the office or in a classroom!

Ms. A. Hernandez - I am currently working on my CDA in Early Childhood Education. I have worked with infants and toddlers at a childcare center for over four years. I enjoy amusement parks, movies, spending time with my family and going to the beach!

Ms. Lopez - I am planning to attend college in the near future. I enjoy going to the movies, reading and spending time at home with my family and cat.

Mrs. Saechao, Employee of the Year, 2008 - I am currently working on my degree in Early Childhood Education. I have spent seven years working with children in various settings.

Mrs. Racines, Employee of the Year, 2005 - I enjoy working at The Goddard School®. I love working with young children and watching them grow. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.

Ms. Roesch - I am working on my Bachelor's degree at Portland State University. I have worked in a preschool classroom for over seven years. I'm very outgoing and love music, movies and shopping!

Mrs. Gloria, Employee of the Year, 2006 - I have been teaching children for over six years. I attended San Francisco City Community College where I completed twelve Early Childhood Education units. I am the mother of two grown daughters, and I am also a grandmother! I really enjoy working with children.

Ms. Pullman - I have an AA degree from San Joaquin Delta College. I have worked for over four years as a Preschool Teacher.

Mrs. Petrossian - Before dedicating my time to my children, I held an Assistant Teacher position at the French American School. Now my children are at an age where I have time to do what I enjoy doing – teaching. I recently completed my CDA.

Ms. Jackson - I have a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in Educational Studies. I have worked with school-age children for 14 years.

Mrs. Nasseri - I have a BSC in Computer Science. I spent four years at the Kish Language Institute, and two years in Language Services.

Ms. Hemminger - I attended the Beruf und Fachschule Stuttgart in Germany and the Montessori Institute NW. I have worked for 13 years as a bookkeeper, four years at Morning Star Childcare and two years as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher before joining The Goddard School®.

Mr. Griff Employee of the Year, 2009 - I've been working with children for twelve years. I enjoy working with children because of the happiness they bring into my life everyday.

Mrs. Weeks - I received my CDA (Child Development Associate Degree) in February 2009. I graduated from the NW Nannies Institute, and spent over four years working as a Nanny. I love working here at Goddard!

Ms. DeWald - I have a BS in Social Science. I spent two years working as a Nanny, and three years working in various childcare settings. I love sports of all kinds, and spending time with my family and friends.

Ms. P. Hernandez Employee of the Year, 2007 - I started working with children as a volunteer. I enjoyed it so much, I decided to study Child Development. I recently received my CDA!

Mrs. Panion - I have an Associate's degree from the Ashmead College of Massage Puget Sound Christian College. I spent two years in practicing massage therapy.

Mr. Orange - I am currently working on my Bachelor’s degree in music. I spent two and a half years as a Childcare Coordinator for Sabin Community Development Center. My experience also includes working for a year and a half as a preschool co-teacher at a YMCA.

Ms. Wang - I have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I have volunteered at local elementary, middle and high schools. I also spent two years working at the Cedar Hills Recreation Center.

Ms. Saephanh - I was part of the Goddard team a few years ago, and I left to pursue my degree. Now I'm back, and having a great time!

Ms. Karel - I received my BA degree in Early Childhood Education from Trinity Lutheran College. I have worked with children since 2005.

Mrs. Snider - Mrs. Snyder is the Assistant Teacher in our Speckled Frogs class (three-year-old children). She spent one year at Mt. Hood Community College, and has several years working in retail.

Ms. Lacombra - Ms. Lacombra is the Assistant Teacher in our Bubbly Butterflies class (three-year-old children).

Ms. Dunn - Ms. Dunn has recently joined our staff as an assistant teacher. You will find her helping out in different classrooms with her sunny disposition!

Mr. Sorber - Mr. Sorber is a new addition to our faculty, but has worked with young children in a preschool setting for several years! He is our assistant teacher in the Dancing Dragonflies.
