In the science center, children will have the opportunity to mix and create their own colors. Cups of paint and craft sticks will be available to them to come up with a new color combination. Then, the children can think of a name for that color and paint with it.

We will learn only about the planets in our solar system. We will try to name them all and count them. The children will also paint on paper plates.

To learn more about what astronauts eat in space, we will make our own version of astronaut food. As a special snack the children will mix their own pudding mix and cold milk in a plastic bag. Shake, eat, enjoy!

While learning about the stars, the children will get a chance to make their own constellations. We will use foil, glue and star-shaped foam pieces to create a constellation.

Terrific Telescopes

We will make our own telescopes to see the "stars". We will paint paper towel tubes blue and cover one end with black tissue paper. The teacher will poke holes in the tissue paper and then we can hold it up to the light to "see the stars."

We will experience walking on the moon. We will place various, unbreakable items around on the floor, like pillows and soft blocks. Then, we will cover the items and floor with a big white sheet and the children can explore the different terrain of the moon.

The children will decorate fish shapes with various items, such as sequins, glitter and tissue paper. We will also read the book The Whales' Song by Dyan Sheldon. After reading, we will listen to actual whale sounds on a CD.
