Faculty Bios

Ms. Shannon: Director - Ms. Shannon is the Director here at The Goddard School. She is very excited to be at “home” and working with such great children and families. Ms. Shannon says, "I can honestly say that I am still excited about coming to work everyday!" Ms. Shannon has been in childcare for over 10 years and has her degree in ECE. She plans on continuing her schooling, even to her Masters. She welcomes any quetions, both personal and professional! Shannon's favorite children's book is "The Mitten" by Jan Brett.

Ms. Hilary: Office Administrator - Ms. Hilary loves being a part of Goddard and all the children's lives as they grow and learn. She has an Associate's Degree in Elementary Education and is working toward her Bachelor's Degree at Wilmington University. She is so happy to be a part of the Goddard family, and looks forward to working here in the years ahead! Hilary's favorite children's book is "Guess How Much I Love You?" by Sam McBratney.

Ms. Cortney: Lead Teacher: Infant Classroom - Ms. Cortney is very excited to be here at Goddard and working with your babies! She was born and raised in Delaware, and since the fourth grade, she knew that she wanted to be a teacher. For high school she went to Wilmington Christian School in Hockessin, and for her Bachelor’s Degree, she decided to go to Messiah College. She graduated with honors in 2003 in Elementary Education and a minor in History. Ever since high school, she has been working with kids, both on a volunteer and paid basis. She has had the pleasure to work with all age groups! At one point, she even had the amazing opportunity to work with abandoned babies in a hospital overseas. She is looking forward to getting to know both you and your children! Ms. Cortney's favorite children's book is "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" by Judith Viorst.

Ms. Jackie: Assistant Teacher: Infant Classroom Ms. Jackie has been around children all my life. As a professional, she has been in this field since January of 2005 and worked with many different ages. She came here to experience something new, and she loves it! She is First Aid, CPR, and seizures certified and has also completed both TECE1 and TECE2. In 2009, she graduated from Middletown High School with her diploma. She is a part time student at DelTech, and she works full time here with infants. She loves making a difference in children’s lives and is so excited to be working here. Ms. Jackie's favorite children's book is "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.

Miss Brittany - Assistant Teacher: Infant room - Ms. Brittany is an intern at The Goddard School. After her niece was born, she realized how much she enjoys being around children. Her plans are to further her education in early childhood and become an assistant teacher at our school! Ms. Brittany's favorite children's book is "I Love You Through and Through" by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak.

Ms. Nicole - Lead Teacher: First Steps Classroom - Ms. Nicole has been in Early Childhood since 2006. She is certified as both a curriculum coordinator and school-aged coordinator. Ms. Nicole has worked with every age and believes that all children have the ability to learn and should enjoy learning.

Ms. Nicole's favorite children's book is Llama Llama, Mad at Mama.

Ms. Ashley - Lead Teacher: Young Toddler Classroom - Ms. Ashley is currently attending the University of Phoenix for Elementary Education. She was inspired to become an early childhood teacher by her love for her daughter. Ms. Ashley is qualified to be a head teacher through the state of Delaware. Ms. Ashley's favorite children's book is There's a Wocket in My Pocket by Dr. Seuss.

Ms. Amanda, Assistant Teacher: Young Toddler Classroom - Ms. Amanda graduated from Perryville High School and is now looking to make teaching her long term career. Ms. Amanda has always been around young children and was always the family babysitter. She has a child who is also attends The Goddard School. She is very excited to be a part of the Goddard family, and is looking forward to all of the exciting opportunities to teach a child something they will carry on with them for the rest of their life! Ms. Amanda's favorite children's story is Goldilocks and the Three Little Bears.

Ms. Amy - Lead Teacher: Toddler Classroom - Ms. Amy was born in Virginia Beach, but spent most of her childhood in a small town in Pennsylvania where both sides of her family lived. She also spent a few years in both the suburbs of Atlanta, Georgia and San Diego, California. She currently reside in New Jersey, right over the bridge from Delaware. Ms. Amy has always had two goals for my life: to be a loving mother and to have a long and fulfilling career working with young children. Ms. Amy's favorite children's book is "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein.

Ms. Jeanette - Lead Teacher: Get Set Classroom - Ms. Jeanette is a recent graduate of Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas where she studied Early Childhood Education. She has been living in Delaware for the past three years with her husband their daughter. Her favorite children's book is "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. Ms. Jeanette is very thankful to be working at The Goddard School and can't wait to meet you and your children!

Miss Mirella - Assistant Teacher: Get Set Classroom - Ms. Mirella is a recent high school graduate planning to continue her education in the near future. She was hired at The Goddard School while she was completing a community service project for school. Ms. Mirella has enjoyed every second of her time here since!

Ms. Sarah - Lead Teacher: Pre-School 1 Classroom - Ms. Sarah grew up on Long Island, NY, but once she graduated from high school, she moved to Ohio to start college. She lived there for a few years and that is where she got her first Assistant teaching position in a preschool. After that, she moved to Tampa, FL, which is where she has been living for the past four years. She spent that time studying Early Childhood Education at the University of South Florida. Now she is looking forward to growing in the Early Childhood Education field here at the Goddard School! Ms. Sarah's favorite books are the "Amelia Bedelia" series by Peggy Parish.

Ms. Tammie - Assistant Teacher: Preschool 1 Classroom - Ms. Tammie is the oldest of seven children and has years of experience caring for young children both personally and professionally. She is currently furthering her education and knowledge in the field of early childhood development and is extremely happy to be a part of the Goddard family! Ms. Tammie's favorite book is Dinosaur Roar! by Paul and Henrietta Stickland.

Ms. Christi - Lead Teacher: Pre-School 2 Classroom - Ms. Christi is the Lead Teacher in the “Gentle Giraffe” classroom. She has her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and several years of hands-on experience working with 2 and 3-year-olds. Ms. Christi was born and raised in Delaware, and her husband and she moved to Middletown several years ago. They absolutely LOVE it here! She enjoys giving children the everyday experiences to help them learn and grow. Ms. Christi's favorite children's book is "My Many Colored Days" by Dr. Seuss.

Ms. Corey - Assistant Teacher: Preschool 2 Classroom - Ms. Corey's love for working with children started at an early age after various babysitting jobs and witnessing her mother raise seven children and seeing first-hand what a positive role model can do for young children. Ms. Corey declared her major two years ago at Wilmington University and she is currently working on receiving her degree in Elementary Education. She previously worked as a substitute teacher in the Capital School District, becoming very familiar with the students, faculty and the public school process. She has also been involved with the YMCA day camp during the summer. She believes that children have a lot to say and just want someone to listen to them. She hopes to be that ear that the children can talk to. Ms. Corey's favorite children's book is "I Wish I Had Duck Feet" by Dr. Seuss.

Ms. Kelley: Lead Teacher: Pre-K 1 Classroom - Ms. Kelley has a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from Temple University. She has wanted to be a teacher and is so happy to be a member of the Goddard family! Ms. Kelley's favorite book is The Tooth Fairy.

Miss Katie - Assistant Teacher: Pre-K Classroom - Ms. Katie graduated from Middletown High School, class of 2010. She is now enrolled in college at DelTech and plans to become a nurse. She has lived here in Middletown her whole life and she loves it! Ms. Katie is certified through the state of Delaware as an assistant teacher. She is so glad to have the opportunity to work with your children! Ms. Katie's favorite children's book is "Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb" by Al Perkins.

Ms. Clarissa - Lead Teacher: Pre-K 2 Classroom - Ms. Clarissa is married with three children of her own and has been working with children for fifteen years. She currently has her TEC1 certificate and many hours of training. Ms. Clarissa is working on her CDA and plans to continue her education in pursuit of an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. She looks forward to being a part of the Goddard family for years to come. Ms. Clarissa says, "Becoming a part of the Goddard family has been a wonderful and exciting experience. Working with each and every child at Goddard has been a pleasure and a ball of fun!"

Miss Kayla - Assistant: School-Age - Ms. Kayla is a junior at Middletown High School. She will be graduating a year early and pursuing a degree in Education. When she graduates, she wants to become a Kindergarten Teacher, because she believes Kindergarten is the biggest step in a child's life. Other than working with children, she loves the outdoors, as well as animals.

Ms. Emily - Assistant Teacher - Ms. Emily attends Del Tech where she is pursuing a degree in Education - Birth to Second Grade and a minor in Mathematics. She has a child that attends The Goddard School. Ms. Emily says, "I always wanted to find a place to work where I loved what I do and who I work with. I have truly found it here!" Ms. Emily's favorite children's book is The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear by Audrey Wood.

Ms. Ashley B: Assistant Teacher - Toddler Classroom - Ms. Ashley graduated from Middletown High School in 2006. She has recently completed Training for Early Care and Education (TECE) 1 & 2, and she has been around children, including those with special needs, most of her life. Ms. Ashley plans on continuing her education in childcare while still volunteering as a fire fighter.

Ms. Ashley's favorite book "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss.
