    GODDARD GOOD DEEDS

  • Program 1: Smart Sacks Program: Although the public schools offer reduced and free breakfasts and lunches to children during the school week, weekends can prove difficult for some local families. We have joined with The Manna Food Center to provide weekend back packs to 15 children at Fields Road Elementary School in Gaithersburg. The children are given a backpack full of nutritious, kid-friendly food to enjoy during the weekend. Here's how the program works:

  • Donate: Parents and Faculty donate single-serve, child-friendly items such as fruit cups, microwave single-serve soups, juice boxes and peanut butter. A complete list of recommended items is available at the front office. Drop off your donations in the front lobby.

  • Backpack Preparation: The School's children help fill the backpacks to send to our friends at Fields Road Elementary School.

  • Delivery: The School's faculty deliver the backpacks to Fields Road ES to be sent home with the children on Friday.

During the 2009-10 school year, in addition to helping the 15 Fields Road Elementary School students, the School donated over 1000 pounds of food to the Manna Food Center.

  • Program 2: Cure Autism Now (CAN): We have partnered with Cure Autism Now and raised over $5000 for this very worthy program.

  • St. Jude's Children's Hospital: The School partners with St. Jude's Children's Hospital every year by holding a "Trike-A-Thon". This program helps to teach the School's Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students the importance of bicycle safety while benefiting children combating cancer. The School raised over $5,000 in its first year working with St. Jude's Children's Hospital and raised over $9,000 in 2010.
