After reading Under the Sea by Alastair Smith. The children discuss  which of the different animals are big or small and what their differences are. Using different sized fish, the children will make logical patterns during cognitive skills and math. During creative art they will be designing their own sea creature. What do you think they will look like?

During science and nature the children The children will explore a sea habitat in the sand table. They will talk about the different shells, plants and animals in the sand table. The children will play a game of match the correct octopus, using color and size.  They will talk about how many tentacles an octopus has and what they would do will if they had some many arms. Cinco de Mayo

Come joins us as the children discuss what, how and what surfing is. They will imitate surfing on a board during motor skills using a balance beam.  The children will make wave bottles today, demonstrating the importance of waves during surfing. Do you know how to surf? I would love to learn. We will also be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with Chips and Salsa 10-12am.

Eve Bunting is the author of today's book, Sunflower House. During creative art the children will use petals to paint their master pieces with. They will look at different flowers and compare the number of petals on each. During science and nature they will place a white carnation in a cup of colored water and observe the carnation change through out the day. What do you think will happen?

Today the children will read Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. They will talk about pollination and its importance flowers. The children will also talk about the different flowers parts and what their roles are. During outside time they children will each pick a flower and create a classroom bouquet.

Today the children will read Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. They will discuss how plants grow. Looking at the difference between the seed and The plant that it produces. during social science the children will make a Flowers Acoustic Poem. I can't wait to see what they create during creative art, using paint, paper and their hands.

After the children read Oh Say Can You Seed? by Emma Helbrough, they will review the months of the year. They will talk about which months are better for planting what and why? They will also discuss what plants need to grow and why. During creative art the children will explore different seeds and using paper and glue will create works of art. I wonder what they will make.

During creative art the children will create "Free Art" using a variety of different materials. How does our garden grow?

During science and nature the children will go outside to discuss and observe the school vegetable garden. they will talk about what weather conditions are considered good for gardening. They will also review sun safety rules as we are coming up on summer. For art they will create a class community flower using paint and their footprints. I can't wait to see that.

Today the children will read and discuss the book I will Never Ever Eat A Tomato by Lauren Child. They will talk about the texture, taste smell and sight of the tomato. During social science they will compare different types of fruit, one of which is the tomato. They will also look at which plants ground above or below the ground. Where does the tomato grow, do you know?

The book today is Carrots Grow Underground by Mari Schuh. The children will learn about the life cycle of a carrot. They will use carrots to paint with during creative art. For snack the children will have a veggie tray of which, you guessed it, carrots will first in line.  During Computer Lab , the children will play Dora's Garden. Do you think she grows carrots? I can't wait to find out.

Today the children will read and discuss the book Your First Garden Book by Marc Brown. They will review both the Spanish word and sign for world. During cognitive skills the children will play a game of match the caterpillar shape. They will talk about how caterpillars affect the garden and what their role is in the garden. During creative art the children will use leaves to paint with.

Today after reading Mazes Around the World by Mary Lankford, the children will discuss the difference between a maze and a labyrinth. Do you know the difference? The children will explore the difference a garden in Texas and one in China during science and nature.  I can't wait to see the similarities as well as the differences. What do you think they are?

Rainbow Rice

The children will read and discuss Round the Garden by Omri Glaser. They will talk about the importance of the water cycle and how that helps our garden grow. During science and nature the children will create different colored rice using cool aid, wax paper and water. Once the rice has dried they will mix the different colors in the sand table and presto, rainbow rice. I can't wait, can you?

During math, they will using their sequencing skills to place vegetables from smallest to largest. The children will read and discuss the book Seeds Get Around by Nancy White. During science and nature, the children will learn how  seeds travel in the air as the wind carries them  from one place to the next. During cognitive skills the children will use their graphing skills as they sort different seeds on a paper. I wonder how these will come out. I can't wait to see the graphs.
