Faculty Bios

Cornelius, NC

Elaine Wydra: On-site Owner -
Elaine is the proud on-site owner of The Goddard School located in Cornelius since it opened in 2001! She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Elaine and her husband John, an FBI Agent in the Charlotte division, moved to Cornelius in 1996. They live with their two boys, who attend Bailey Middle School and their two rescued Great Danes, Stella and Izzy. Elaine's office relocated to the recently opened annex building but she can be seen every day in the halls and classrooms of both buildings.

Stacey Smith: Co-Director -
Stacey is the Co-Director of The Goddard School® located in Cornelius and joined our faculty in 2002. Stacey has a degree in Elementary Education, over fifteen years experience and a Level III Administration Credential through the State of North Carolina. She is also a member of the Goddard Systems, Inc. Director Mentor program in which she lends her expertise and support to other Goddard School® directors across the country.

Amy Boutet: Co-Director -
Amy Boutet is Co-Director of The Goddard School located in Cornelius, NC.  Amy has earned her BA in Child and Family Development from the University of North Carolina.  She has worked with Goddard Schools since 2001.  Amy has her Level III Administration Credential from the State of North Carolina.  Most recently, Amy was Lead Teacher in our Toddler classroom.

Suzanne Harrington: Assistant Director -
Suzanne is the Assistant Director at The Goddard School® located in Cornelius and joined our faculty when the school opened in 2001. Suzanne has a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Development, nine years of experience and a Level III Administration Credential through the State of North Carolina.

Geneva L.: Infant I - Lead Teacher -
Geneva is the Lead Teacher in our Infant I room. She has an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Geneva is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was awarded the Early Childhood Academic Honor award. While she was still in school, Geneva completed her required class observations and volunteered at our school. Geneva joined us as a full-time faculty member upon the completion of her degree in 2006.

Sharon H.: Infant I – Assistant Teacher -
Sharon is an Assistant Teacher in our Infant I room and very much enjoys working with the babies. She joined the faculty at The Goddard School located in Cornelius in 2005. Sharon has obtained her North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials.

Karen W.: Infant I – Assistant Teacher -
Karen is an Assistant Teacher in our Infant I room and is a Registered Nurse. She truly enjoys spending time with the students at the School and has worked at Goddard since 2007.

Jaclyn H.: Infant II - Lead Teacher -
Ms. Jaclyn is the Lead Teacher in our Infant II classroom.  She has her BA in Child and Family Development from The University of North Carolina.  Jaclyn loves children of all ages and enjoys the opportunity to help them in their development.  She has worked in our school since 2009.

Debora S.: Toddler II – Lead Teacher -
Debora is a Lead Teacher in our Toddler II classroom and joined the faculty of The Goddard School located in Cornelius in 2004. She is fluent in several different languages and has an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Debora says, “I look forward to coming to work every day because I learn as much from my students as they learn from me.”

Bethany E.: Get Set I – Lead Teacher -
Bethany is the Lead Teacher in our Get Set I classroom and joined the faculty of The Goddard School located in Cornelius in 2002. She has an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education and is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Development.

Theresa B.: Get Set II - Lead Teacher - Ms. Theresa is Co-Lead teacher in our Get Set II room and has a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She has been working with young children for over ten years. She finds spending time with young children a joy and loves her daily interactions with her students.  Theresa joined The Goddard School in 2010.

Jane Courtney H.: Get Set II – Lead Teacher -
Jane Courtney is the Co-Lead Teacher in the Get Set II classroom and joined the School's faculty in 2007. She has a Bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Education. Jane Courtney has taught Kindergarten for CMS but feels her place is teaching younger children.

Rhonda C.: Young Preschool  – Lead Teacher -
Rhonda is the Co- Lead Teacher in our Young Preschool classroom. She has an Associate's degree in both Early Childhood Education and Criminal Justice. Rhonda is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Development from the University of North Carolina. She has worked with children for over eighteen years and loves every minute of it. She joined our School's faculty in 2002.

McKenzie B.: Pre-Kindergarten - Lead Teacher -
McKenzie is a Co-Lead Teacher in our Pre-Kindergarten classroom. She has a degree in Elementary Education and several years of teaching experience. She has worked at The Goddard School located in Cornelius since 2008.

Sarah P.: Transitional Kindergarten – Co-Lead Teacher -
Sarah is the Co-Lead Teacher in our Transitional Kindergarten classroom. She has an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. Sarah joined the faculty of The Goddard School located in Cornelius in 2001 and has worked with children in almost every age group and enjoys them equally.

Heather P.: Transitional Kindergarten – Co-Lead Teacher -
Heather is the Co-Lead teacher in our Transitional Kindergarten classroom and joined the faculty at Goddard in 2002. She has her AA in Early Childhood Education from Mitchell Community College.   Heather plans to obtain a Bachelor's degree as well.

Rebecca W.: School-Age - Lead Teacher -
Ms. Becky is a Lead Teacher in our School-Age program. She has a degree in Criminal Justice and several years of experience working with children. Ms. Becky has worked at The Goddard School located in Cornelius since 2008.

Joanna B. - Floating Assistant -
Ms. Jo has worked at The Goddard School located in Cornelius since 2003. She has over ten years of experience working with children and has also obtained her North Carolina Early Childhood credentials.

Jena S.: Floating Assistant -
Jena is currently a Floating Assistant. She helps out and lends support to our directors and teachers throughout the school. This position is a great learning experience for Jena and will hopefully help her reach her future goal to be a Lead Teacher qualified. She has worked at The Goddard School located in Cornelius since 2008.
