Welcome to The Goddard School® located in Chesterfield, where we promise to educate, know and love your children as if they were our own.
We are Sheila and Scott Rinaberger, the owners and on-site operators of our school, a nationally and state-accredited School serving children six weeks of age through Kindergarten, and children up to age ten in our summer program. We are proud to bring the unique development program and outstanding reputation of The Goddard School to you and your children.
The opening of our School was inspired by our
experiences in childcare for our two children. After using various in-home and
day care centers, we felt there had to be a better option to develop our
children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical abilities. After a lot of
research, we found it and the answer was The Goddard School.
The great part of being the owners and on-site
operators is our ability to implement all the great parts of The Goddard School
program and bring our own twists to enhance your child’s experience. From the
moment you walk into our “Park” hearing the festive music, you will know our
award-winning program is all about the children.
We are blessed to have exceptional teachers who
believe in the Goddard way. Every classroom, beginning with our infant rooms,
is led by a degreed teacher who assesses their classroom’s learning needs based
upon The Goddard School’s age-appropriate Developmental Guidelines and creates
lessons plans that are full of fun, playful activities. The Developmental
Guidelines provide the teachers a framework around the core learning needs and
goals, yet allow the teachers to take ownership of the learning process and be
creative. This process of developing lesson plans creates a unique bond between
the teacher and child. The teacher has ownership of the learning process and
the child brings the eagerness to play and learn.
Our educational philosophy is truly about the
whole child and reaches far beyond just certain aspects of the child’s learning
needs. For example, we do not focus solely in one area, such as literacy and
language arts. Instead, we use language arts as a process tool to explore all
areas of learning from science to art, from dramatic play to mathematics. This
philosophy begins in our Infant program and continues until completion of our
Kindergarten program.
At The Goddard School located in Chesterfield, we
believe that it is imperative to introduce your child to various enrichment
activities. That is why, at no additional cost to you, all students participate in enrichment classes
each day, taught by dedicated teachers. Students learn Spanish with our Spanish
teacher, the joys of physical fitness and yoga with our P.E. teacher, math and
science skills through cooking, and computer / keyboarding skills. We display
original works of art created through our art history and world culture
classes, and our daily music class taught by our music teacher culminates in
our semi-annual Student Musical Performance.
The many families that make up our Goddard family
are very special to us. Our families come from all across the St. Louis area,
including St. Charles, O’Fallon, Maryland Heights and the surrounding
communities of Chesterfield. We encourage our families to be active
participants in their child’s learning experience. That is why we offer several
opportunities throughout the year for parents, grandparents or special family
members to come visit the school for special events. From music concerts to
Science Night, from our themed dances to Trick or Treat, you will get to meet
other families and be a part of our special community.
The last piece of the puzzle that makes us so
special is our facility, personally chosen to meet our vision of our school.
Our School, located on ten acres and shaped like a doughnut, has many wonderful
features to let our classes move around and experience activities outside of
their classroom. Our school has an 8,000 square foot gymnasium, an outdoor
courtyard in the center of the building with a gazebo and garden, a library, a
computer lab, a music room and a children's kitchen. You won’t find all of
these in in any other school or childcare center.
Finally, our school is recognized for academic and
quality excellence. Our School is accredited by Missouri Accreditation of
Programs for Children and Youth. Our proven curriculum, the FLEX Learning
Program, has been accredited for excellence in learning by AdvancED, the world’s
largest and most selective accreditation organization, an achievement no other Missouri preschool other
than Goddard Schools can claim. Goddard Systems, Inc. has recognized our
school’s dedication to quality with their prestigious Quality Assurance Award
and their Health and Safety Award.
