    Canton, MI

Exclusively at The Goddard School located in Canton, Michigan!

  • 100% of our teachers are degreed professionals. 18 of our 20 teachers have their four-year Bachelor’s degree in a Child Development field; 2 have their two-year Child Development Associate’s (CDA) certification.

  • 100% of our teachers are certified in First Aid and CPR.

  • Two full-time Education Directors, Jennifer and Ashleigh, spend their day insuring that the educational curriculum is being applied appropriately to each age group, and that all safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards are being followed. Using Goddard’s Developmental Guidelines, the directors assure that the teachers create lesson plans that are brought to life in fun, stimulating and imaginative ways.

  • A full-time on-site owner, Carl Pittner, is present to take care of the operational and business needs so that the education directors can devote their time to the children and teachers.

  • Twice per year, unannounced, a representative from Goddard’s Quality Assurance department visits to perform an audit. We must continuously meet Goddard standards to remain a part of their system.

  • Open communication is promoted. Parents are welcome at the school any time to witness the program in action. Teachers, education directors and the owner are available to the parents at all times.

  • All classroom floors are vinyl; none are carpeted. In a group childcare setting carpeting can promote less than sanitary conditions. Every evening a professional cleaning company cleans the school's floors, bathrooms, etc. The throw rugs in each classroom are regularly changed and sent out to our contracted cleaning company. The teachers and education directors utilize our dishwasher, clothes washer, clothes dryer and sanitizing bins to keep the materials used in the classrooms clean.

  • The air circulating in the building is cleaned by six HVAC units containing the Lennox Pure Air Filtration System. Lennox specifies that the combination of the pleated filter, UVA lamps and metal catalyst has the net effect of producing the same air as hospitals provide in general surgery operating rooms.

  • Our building is designed with a gross motor room (gymnasium) to provide children with gross motor activities outside the classroom when weather prevents them from being outdoors.

  • Pour-in-place surfacing is used on all our playgrounds to insure a clean, cushioned and child-friendly area.

  • Fitness, foreign language, music appreciation, nutrition, sign language, dramatic play, math, science, language arts, creative arts and social skills are incorporated into the children’s daily curriculum.

  • Classrooms offer a multi-cultural and developmentally appropriate environment.

  • Children are treated with respect in an atmosphere focused on both emotional and intellectual intelligence, while nurturing their independence and self-confidence.

  • A daily activity report is prepared for each child and sent home with parents each day. We supplement these with periodic progress reports, newsletters and an individualized portfolio of your child’s work.
