Play is essential to the development of children's brains, triggering trillions of neural connections that form the basis of healthy cognitive function and mastery of their physical world. Playing alone and with others not only builds brain development, it also helps children develop social skills and a sense of ethics. “Young children who learn through play are more prepared to make their own decisions, advocate for themselves and use creativity to solve problems as they grow,” says Dr. Kyle Pruett, a Yale University child psychiatrist.
The Goddard School® located in Bear offers programs developed using a play based curriculum that encourages a life long love of learning in children. To supplement Goddard’s comprehensive core curriculum, our teachers use a variety of enrichment programs that are provided at no additional cost. The enrichment programs are written and designed specifically for preschool children using age-appropriate equipment and activities. These enrichment programs include:

Our school employs well qualified teachers who are provided with many hours of training along with additional resources including computers with internet access, classroom management assistance and school supplies to help enhance our students learning process. Bright, large classrooms with low student to teacher ratios provide an environment where children can explore centers for dramatic play, math, creative art, science, music and computers. In addition, social science, reading and writing, story telling and outdoor play are also incorporated in our lesson plans and each child’s daily routine.
In addition to our comprehensive curriculum and fantastic faculty, The Goddard School® located in Bear provides a safe and secure environment. To enhance safety, our school has a biometric system to gain access to enter our school. Security cameras with recorders continuously monitor the perimeter of our school. We have installed Fingersafe® guards in our classroom doorways. Fingersafe® is a revolutionary door safety device that protects little fingers from getting pinched from the hinge areas of doors. Our two age appropriate, securely fenced playground areas feature a Pour in Place rubber playground surface providing a safe fall zone and eliminate the need to use mulch or sand.
