Austell, GA

Ms. Bindu Reddy, Owner - As The Goddard School® owner, Ms. Reddy is committed to providing the best early childhood development experience for your children. Ms. Reddy is excited about this opportunity to positively impact our community. Her interest in early childhood development and The Goddard School’s absolute commitment to quality has led her to become the proud owner of this school. She has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School, Emory University. She has previously consulted and managed software projects for Fortune 500 companies. Ms. Reddy and her husband have lived in Atlanta for over fifteen years. Mr. Reddy has a Master's degree in Computer Science from Alabama A&M University and is the founder and CEO of a well established software services company located in Norcross, Georgia. They are blessed with three children, who attend The Westminster Schools and The Galloway School. They are actively involved in their education and all around development. Please call Ms. Reddy if you have any questions and she will always do her best to answer them for you.

Ms. Jill West - Director - In addition to the Owner, The Goddard School® has the benefit of an Education Director who is responsible for the curriculum and program. This dual management system gives the Director the freedom to observe classrooms, mentor faculty and develop a healthy learning environment for your child. The Goddard School Director has a demonstrated ability to operate a premier preschool with a complete understanding of the curriculum, QA and safety guidelines of The Goddard School® and is also required to complete an exclusive Director training series for Goddard School. As the Education Director, Ms. West is committed to providing a warm environment where teachers are able to provide premier education for the children. Ms. West has over fifteen years of experience working with children and families and holds a B.S. degree in Family and Child Studies with a minor in Child Development from Georgia Southern University. In addition to her extensive experience in childcare and education, Ms. West has worked with the Department of Family and Children Services and founded a business that provided nanny services. She and her husband have two children and understand the value and importance of early education. Ms. West loves working with children and views child care and education through the eyes of an educator and a parent and is always ready to answer parent and teacher questions. She is looking forward to developing lasting relationships with the families of The Goddard School.

Faculty - Our faculty is made of loving and dedicated teachers who understand each child’s needs. They are highly qualified childhood educators who are able to use their creativity and the Goddard Developmental Guidelines as the basis for unique lesson plans that are brought to life in a fun and imaginative way. Each Goddard School’s faculty is made up of warm and nurturing teachers with a combination of formal education and experience. Whether gently holding an infant, encouraging toddlers to share, or providing preschoolers with a variety of enriching activities, caring teachers support the healthy development of children from six weeks to six years.
Goddard School teachers are:
• Selected for their ability to engage children warmly in the learning process through the use of effective and unique lesson plans.
• Required to fulfill education and experience requirements.
• Provided opportunities to participate in Goddard Systems University (GSU). GSU has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).
• Required to complete an exclusive training series developed specifically for Goddard School teachers. This unique program coaches teachers in the areas of health and safety, curriculum, developmental guidelines and enrichment programs.

Ms. Teresa - (Quality and Safety) I have worked as a Director and a Mentor Director for many years. I am currently seeking my Associates Degree and my goal is to have a Masters in early childhood education. I started my career in Early childhood Education in 1983 in Florida. I had gone through many workshops and trainings. Each year we were required to have at least 40 training hours. I moved to Atlanta five years ago. I originally obtained Director Credential in Florida and again in Georgia. I will be working as Administrative coordinator, substituting in the classrooms and will be managing the kitchen. I am looking forward to establishing lasting relationships with families at The Goddard School. I have worked with toddlers, preschoolers and after schoolers. Each group of children has their unique qualities and I love interacting and learning from each one. It is important to me that children learn in a fun and meaningful way. I feel that children need to feel safe and always have a passion for learning. Favorite children’s book: “Love you Forever" by Robert Munsch

Ms. Meagan (Curriculum) - In addition to being the Curriculum Coordinatior, I teach the Kindergarten class. As a Georgia certified educator for grades P-5, I am committed to providing a strong foundation that enables children to succeed in their future education. At Georgia Southern University, I received formal training by earning a B.S in Early Childhood Education. I have over five years of experience working with children in an educational environment. Engaging my children with hands-on activities results in fun and learning simultaneously. I look forward to helping children learn and grow in the classroom each day, and I find nothing more rewarding than watching children discover their own independence and abilities. I am from Hershey, Pennsylvania, and moved to Austell from Statesboro, Georgia. I have a wonderful husband and an energetic dog named Molly. I love to read, write, and travel in my spare time. Ms. Ruth (Spanish)

 I’m originally from México City, my family and I moved to Georgia thirteen years ago. I have been married for twenty years to my husband Carlos Alcalá, a Systems Engineer who works for the IT Department of Home Depot at its head quarters in Vinnings. We have two children, Ruthie  attends Kennesaw State and Carlos attends Chapel Hill High School. We like to travel to different countries with our children, so they can be exposed to other cultures, food and languages.

The goal of the Spanish program is to instill in children the love and appreciation for a new language and culture. To allow the children to enjoy communicating by using simple everyday Spanish words with their peers. To introduce new vocabulary in Spanish and to encourage them to continue to learn the language.

Ms. Helene (Music) I am Helene and I am a music, drama and dance specialist. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree from Beloit College in Performing Arts, Creative Dramatics and Elementary Education Certification. I have worked as both a classroom teacher and educational specialist, offering a wide variety of workshops in music, movement, meditation and creative dramatics for all ages. In addition to teaching, I also tour with The Baal Shem Tones and am currently in production on a folk/pop album with my new duo "Helene and Michael Kates." Next upcoming release is a children's album, a compilation of original songs written in the classroom.

Ms. April (Preschool) I am excited about joining the Goddard Family. I am originally from Ohio where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education. I have been working with children for over ten years. I worked as a teacher at Porterfield Day School and Covenant Presbyterian Preschool. I was the director for the Kids on Wednesday for Covenant Presbyterian Church for one year. I have also worked as an Applied Behavior Analysis therapist and as a nanny for several families. In 2008, my husband and I relocated to the Atlanta area with our three young children. Teaching has always been a passion for me and I love working with children. I had a 4th grade teacher who I have always looked up to and strive to emulate her. I enjoy spending time with my children, exercising, reading, and cooking.

Ms. Ashley (Pre-K) - I am a Georgia certified educator for grades P-5 and have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of West Georgia. I have worked in a Pre-K to first grade after-school program for almost two years. I have experience teaching in Pre-K, first, second and fifth grade classrooms. In all, I have been working with children for almost 7 years and I have enjoyed every moment! I am an avid writer and will be getting my Master's in writing or English starting in January. I also love to read. As a child I loved to be read to and now I love reading to children. I love children's books and I have made quite a collection for myself at home. I enjoy books by Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss. I also thoroughly enjoy Shell Silverstein poetry. I am very excited about teaching at The Goddard School and I cannot wait for the road ahead! Favorite Children's Book: My favorite book since childhood is a Caldecott Honor Book, "The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Stupid Fairy Tales" by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith.

 

Ms. Lashonda J (Preschool) - I've been working with children for over fourteen years. I have experience working with children of all ages from infants to school age. I also have experience working as a Director of a Private Preschool. I am a graduate of Perry High School and attended Fort Valley State University where I received my Associates in Early Childhood Education. My goal each day is to provide each child with a nurturing, safe, and educational environment. I love knowing that through my teaching I can positively impact the way a child feels about learning, about being creative, and about finding their place in the world! I am a Perry, GA native and I have been living in Atlanta for eight years. I’ve volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and am a member of a sorority (EUNICE Chapter 164-PHA) where we give back to the community with service. My hobbies are tutoring children, spending time with my family, hunting, the outdoors, tennis, and shopping. Favorite Children’s Book: "Little Bear" by Else Holmelund Minarik

Ms. Amber (Preschool) - I am excited about teaching in the Infant classroom. I am originally from LaFayette, GA. I attended the University of West Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. My first year of teaching I taught fourth grade and have since taught preschool. I am a very sociable person and I love meeting new people. I am very passionate about working with children, and I hope to obtain my Master’s degree in childhood psychology. In the future, I hope to become a counselor or a psychologist. I am married and have a son. We enjoy spending time together as a family. We love hockey, especially the Atlanta Thrashers. We attend games at Phillips Arena whenever possible. We are also fans of the Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Miami Heat and Jeff Gordon. I love anything by James Patterson, Mexican food, and sour candy. Favorite Children’s Book: "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle

Ms. Gwendolyn (Infant) - I am a teacher in the infant room. I attended Rust College and have a B.A in Mass Communications. I have worked with children for over seven years. I am looking forward to working in the infant room. I am from Corinth, Mississippi and I love to read. I enjoy Thai food. My favorite color is coral and favorite flower is Gardenia. Favorite Children's Book: Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss

Ms. Gwen M (Toddler) - Hi, I am Ms. Gwen and I am very excited to be a part of the Humming Birds. I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services and a concentration in Child Welfare. I have always had a passion to work with young children. I have over sixteen years of experience in childcare and have worked with children ages newborn to twelve years of age. Nothing excites me more than seeing a smile on a little one’s face. I have lived most of my life in Georgia. Please stop by in my classroom and I would love to learn more about your family and children. Ms. Dee (Toddler) - “Bonjour les Parents, je suis très heureux d'être dans cette école avec vos enfants”- I am very happy to work at The Goddard School with your children. My name is Djeneba. I have previously worked with young children and I have an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Child Development Specialist Certificate. I am very fluent in French and I was born and raised in Ivory Coast, West Africa. I have been married for ten years. Teaching children is my passion and I am looking forward to learning about every child in my class and building long term relationships with all the families. Ms. Ana - I am working on my Bachelor’s degree in Secondary History Education. I will transfer from Chattahoochee Technical College to The University of West Georgia. I have over five years of experience working with children including babysitting, vacation bible school and my church’s nursery. I love to sing and go on mission trips with the church. My dad is a preacher at the Austell Christian Church. And my mom is a deaf/hard of hearing teacher’s assistant at Holly Springs Elementary School. I live with my parents, sister (who loves soccer) and my grandmother. Favorite Children’s Book: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Ms. Daveda (Toddler) I have a Bachelor's degree in General Health Studies from the University of Alabama. I’m excited to be a part of the Goddard Team and am looking forward to teaching in the Friendly Frogs Class. I taught at Child Care Network and worked with children under 3 years of age. I have volunteered at several childcare centers and elementary schools. I enjoy working with children and I want to make a positive impact in the lives of young children and give them a strong foundation. I have worked in retail as well as in the childcare setting. Ms. Kristin (Preschool) - Hi! I am excited to be working here at The Goddard School with your child! I have a strong desire and passion for teaching, and I hope to positively influence the lives of our future leaders. My aim is to bring the best out of every child that I encounter. I graduated from The University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in history. I plan to pursue a Master's in school counseling. My experience with children includes babysitting along with teaching Sunday school classes and vacation Bible school at my church. I am also an assistant troop leader/ volunteer for the Daisies of Girl Scout Troop. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good novel and spending time with family and friends. Ms. Jennifer - I am very excited to work at The Goddard School. I have been working with children for eleven years. I have a Bachelor's degree as well as a Master's degree in Elementary Education that I obtained while in NY. I have taught in public school in grades K-5. I am a Georgia certified teacher in both general education and special education for grades P-6. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. I moved to Georgia two and a half years ago. I really enjoy working with children. My favorite part of working with children is seeing the “AHH...HA” face when they realize they have learned something new. It gives me great pleasure to see children grow and learn. My favorite children’s author is Jane Brett. I have in the past learned many things about her and enjoy sharing that information about her with my students. Favorite Children’s Book: "The Mitten" by Jane Brett.

Ms. Cynthia (Toddler) Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star how I wonder who you are? My name is Cynthia Denise Evans. I am originally from Alabama and I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon a world so high I began to make a little star with my life. I am the proud mother of two wonderful daughter's Teairra and Tatiya. I have been educating young minds for twelve years, of ages that range from six weeks to twelve years of age. I attended Troy State University at Fort Benning, Georgia, majoring in Early Childhood Education. I have earned a Child Development Associate in Infant and Toddler Education, which are ages that are dear to my heart. I enjoy children, reading, taking walks, and watching Wheel of Fortune.

Ms. Ashley I am from Houston, Texas and is very excited to be in the Atlanta area. I graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama, where I earned a degree in Dance Performance and English Studies. I also have my early childhood through 4th grade teaching certificate. I have taught all styles of dance for many years. I have also taught Kindergarten and completed my student teaching in 2nd grade. I enjoy dancing, running, and reading in my spare time. I also love to Travel and have been to 15 countries. I believe that the lessons learned through experience are the most enriching. Favorite Children's Book: Chrysanthemum by Kevin Hanks
