Faculty Bios

Mrs. Teresa R. (Executive Director) - Welcome to our beautiful School. I have always striven to provide educational programs that are developmentally appropriate, nurturing, and stimulating. As an educator, I fully understand the importance of children reaching developmental milestones. I have had the pleasure to live and work abroad in Okinawa, Japan as a Kindergarten Teacher. I have a BS in Early Childhood Education, a Masters in Education and over 17 years of experience in the early childhood education industry, 11 of which were in a management capacity. My work experience includes early intervention, creating literacy programs and staff / curriculum development. I have successfully directed and prepared programs for NAEYC accreditation. I look forward to sharing my experience and knowledge with your children. I look forward to building a rewarding relationship with you.

Mrs. Debbie K. (Operations Director) - I am very excited to be here as the Operations Director. I graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. degree in Child Development and PA Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education. I have 10 years of teaching experience working with children from Infants to Kindergarten and 15 years experience as a Director for Child Development Centers in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. My most recent experience was as the Director of Education for six years at another Goddard School. While there, I was successful in implementing a high quality, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment with a strong curriculum. In addition, I built strong relationships with the children and their families. Both of my children are Goddard graduates and thanks to Goddard’s high standards and curriculum they excel academically.

Madhu & Akhil Govil (Owners) - Welcome to The Goddard School®! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and share with you a little about who we are and how we came to The Goddard School®. Our families dedicated themselves to education and taught us the value of it. Madhu’s family established many schools in Delhi, India. They created learning opportunities for many children who didn’t have access to education. As Mathematics and Early Childhood Teachers Akhil’s parents helped many children experience a better life. As a successful business executive, Madhu has spent her career putting clients and colleagues needs first. At the same time, Akhil has proudly served as an executive for the Department of Defense. Our family includes a son and daughter who attend medical and engineering school. For the last 20 years, we have also worked with various non-profit organizations who have recognized us for our commitment, youth leadership, and cultural education. Recently, we decided to make our love for children and education into a full-time career. As on-site owners of The Goddard School®, our emphasis will be to provide a loving and nurturing environment to help your child’s learning and development. Sincerely, Madhu and Akhil Govil

Ms. Lipi - Education: Master’s Degree in Child Development. Ms. Lipi has worked in the Child Development field since 2001. Her work experience includes working with children from Preschool through Fourth grade.

Ms. Stacey - Education: Associates of Applied Science in Child Care Technology. Ms. Stacey has worked in the Child Development field since 1987. She has worked with a wide range of ages, but feels that infants are her specialty. She also has six years of experience as an Assistant Director for two Child Care Centers.

Ms. Jan - Education: Master’s Degree in Education from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, NC and Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, Education, and Music from Meredith College in Raleigh, NC. Ms. Jan has worked in the Child Development field since 1972. She has 21 years of experience as a teacher trainer in the areas of curriculum and music. In addition, she has over 35 years of experience working in a Preschool setting in various classroom and management capacities.

Ms. Raechel - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Ms. Raechel has worked in the Child Development field since 2003. She has worked as a Summer Camp Counselor and has experience tutoring and mentoring kindergartners.

Ms. Ana Maria - Education: Child Development Associate Certification from Georgia and Nursing Assistant education from Miami, FL. Ms. Ana has worked in the Child Development field since 2003. Prior to relocating to Virginia she worked at a Goddard School in Georgia for two years.

Ms. Mariella - Education: Childhood Education from San Martin De Porras University in Peru and completed the comprehensive Early Childhood Development course in Maryland. Ms. Mariela has worked in the Child Development field since 2003 and she had a home childcare center in Miami, FL.

Ms. Karen - Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and a Child Development Associate certification. Ms. Karen has worked in the Child Development field since 2002. She has worked with infants through school age children.

Ms. Amanda - Education: Liberal Arts Degree from Radford University and Early Childhood Courses. Ms. Amanda has worked in the Child Development field since 2008. Her experience includes being a nanny and substitute teaching.

Ms. Megan - Education: Bachelor of Arts Degree in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Liberal Arts for Education from George Mason University. Ms. Megan has worked in the Child Development field since 2005. Prior to joining Goddard she worked for Fairfax County Public Schools in both the Reading and ESL programs for two years.

Ms. Lindsey C. - Education: AAS in Early Childhood Education and working on BA in Human Services. Ms. Lindsey has worked in the Child Development field since 2004. She has worked in Head Start, with Special Needs children, and in Early Intervention. Ms. Lindsey has worked with children from Birth to five years of age.

Ms. Patricia - Education: High School Diploma and completed numerous Early Education trainings. Ms. Patricia has worked in the Child Development field with Pre-Toddlers since 2001. In addition, she will complete her CDA in 2010.

Ms. Jennifer - Education: Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA). She has worked in the Child Development field since 2002. Ms. Jennifer has experience working with infants to school age children.

Ms. Kimberly - Education: Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and working on Master’s in Counseling. Ms. Kimberly has worked in the Child Development field since 2006. She has worked with three and four year olds in a child care center and worked as a substitute teacher.

Ms. Ashley - Education: Currently pursuing Bachelor's degree. Ms. Ashley has worked in the Child Development field since 2000. She has worked with children from infants to school age.
