- Our Infant Room includes a play area full of stimulating toys and books where babies are encouraged to develop at their own pace.
- Teachers sing songs and read stories to encourage language acquisition, and they pass balls and play games to develop motor skills.
- Teachers spend lots of time cuddling and talking to babies to instill trust and to provide a healthy learning environment.

- In many Goddard Schools, American Sign Language is introduced in the Infant and First Steps rooms. Infants learn to express their thoughts or needs without regard to their language ability.
- Infants love to move and explore and Goddard teachers appreciate this curiosity. Swings and play seats, therefore, are limited in our Infant Rooms.
- The First Steps classroom transitions children from infant to toddler – children attempt new vocabulary and practice self-help skills.
